Gold Size Terminology Explained! #gold #goldprospecting #goldpanning #goldnugget #prospecting
Gold sizing can definitely be debatable but I took some time and did some research noting what the general consensus says about gold size.
Let me know in the comments if I got it right or if I'm wrong, what do you classify each size being?
Thanks and Happy Prospecting!
Stoney
Flour Gold - Generally 30 mesh and smaller and resembles fine grains of sand or salt.
Flake Gold - Usually classifies as being between 8-30 mesh and would need tweezers to pick up. This size generally can't get picked up by your fingers.
Gold Pickers - Can for sure be picked up by your fingers and weigh up to 1 gram. Pickers resemble a grain of rice for a size comparison.

      Hey there. I really have no idea. Try and input that model number in Amazon and see if the igniter I provided in the video is a suitable substitute. From doing some of my own Amazon research, it looks like the one I have will not work. But please type in Samsung, then your model number and then oven igniter. It looks like a few of the people selling them on Amazon has a contact us and you can give them your model number and they can look it up for you. Hope this helps and good luck.

      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 7 часов назад

      Hey there! I think your set up is good, 8-9% is the go to, and I try and have about an inch of water flowing above the mat. I also like to have a nice V shape that forms in the middle. And it's ok if there are rocks in the mat. As long as the swirling motion is taking place and the light material is washing away, you should be good to go. That's a really good mat and it is catching the gold even if you think it's not. There's sometimes when I don't even see a speck, but when I clean it out and pan out the cons, bam, it's all there looking at me. Good luck and I hope you strike it Rich!

    Hey Stoney...I've heard so many different things about getting buckets of black sand from the beaches, how many buckets, permits or no permits, classify first or not, etc....what are the rules?? we are rookies at prospecting and what to follow the rules...

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser День назад

      Hey hey hey! Welcome and thanks for the questions. I know I won't be too much help, but I'll try my best. So on the handbook, there's a section in there about beach prospecting. I'd review that if I were you, but it sounds like from your questions, you're going to just take some sand home. In that case, I'd play dumb. I'd just grab some buckets, fill them up and go. Specific beaches may have rules about what you can pack out of there, but some probably don't. If it were me, I'd drive out there, find a good spot, dig a few buckets and leave. Then I'd run it all at the house. You don't need to classify it (personal preference), you don't need a permit (unless you are running a highbanker) and the rules are in that book for actual prospecting. I hope this helps and let me know if you need any other help. Thanks and good luck out there!!!

    Great video!!! But I unfortunately still have a problem so I hope you can still help. My broiler and stove WORK no problem - Gas lights up. My bake ignitor in the lower part of my oven GLOWS BRIGHT and totally works BUT my gas for the oven does NOT light up. Any ideas? Many thanks!

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 3 дня назад

      @@dcsdefense hey there! Sorry it's still not working. Now I have heard that you can get new igniters that are defects, this may be the cause. Now when you hit bake and you see the igniter glow, are you smelling propane by chance? If not, then you may have a regulator issue and if that's the case, I really don't know how to fix that issue. I'm really sorry about that. But let me know if you come up with anything and like I said, let me know if you are smelling gas

    • @damiansiwek8648
      @damiansiwek8648 2 дня назад

      Once again, thank you so much for replying, I sincerely appreciate it. So I removed that bottom plate the metal that covers the gas pipe and the igniter in the bottom of the oven. I can’t say I smell any gas. I went as far as also turning on the oven, and tried to light the gas with one of those Aim n Flame lighters while wearing an oven mitt, and it did not light. It’s so weird because I’m getting gas to my stove and my broiler, and the igniter gets screaming hot down in the bottom of the oven, but it will not light.

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 2 дня назад

      @damiansiwek8648 shoot :( then something else must be the problem. Your gas valve to the bottom igniter must be acting up or your control for the valve must be acting up. Especially if you are trying to light it manually (which I would do for sure) and nothing is lighting off. Then yea something else is going on. Now I do know, that when the oven is turned on, it may take 20-30 seconds for the gas to ignite. I'm not sure if that's because the igniter has to get to a certain temp or that's when the gas starts flowing (after a bit). That would be my only other thing to check. If that doesn't work, then you may need to try something else. Again, I'm really sorry this didn't fix your issue. Unfortunately with today's electronics and mechanisms, other problems can exist. The igniter replacement is the most common piece to fail and that why I did this video. I'm also not an appliance repairman, so please take my diagnose with a grain of salt. :) Again my sincere apologies and I hope you can get it fixed soon. I know how frustrating this can be. Keep me up to take if you could on the fix. Others I'm sure are having the same issue and this could help them. Best regards, Stoney

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 2 дня назад

      You know, I wa thinking today... and I hate putting more work on you, trust me, I understand. But did you try swapping the top igniter with the bottom one? I say this because, if I were you, I know the top one of working and I would swap it and see if the bottom would start to work. This would garentee that something else is wrong if it doesn't work. Anyway... just my two cents and I completely understand if you don't want to do it. This problem would just drive me nuts... lol, which I'm sure it is for you

    • @damiansiwek8648
      @damiansiwek8648 2 дня назад

      DUDE!!! Your solution worked!!!!! And now I understand why it worked: The igniter must be able to gather enough electrical current to OPEN the valve that allows gas to flow. It must then generate an electrical spark to light the gas. If the igniter is unable to perform EITHER of these functions, the oven won't heat. My igniter was NOT gathering enough electrical current to open the valve to let the gas in. That is why my bake igniter was not working while my broiler and my stove were still igniting and turning on. Using your solution to simply replace the entire thing with a new igniter solved that problem. So even though it was glowing bright enough to light the gas, there was not enough electrical current to open the gas to light the oven. Stoney, you’re the best! Thank you so much for posting this video because it finally brought me to the solution I needed.

      Hey clpotis! Thank you so much for the comment and support. I can try and do something like that in the future. But for a quick lesson, if you see gold in a pan, it will never dim (in sunlight or shadow). Pyrite won't do that. It will shine like gold in the sun but as soon as it goes in the shadow, it will dim and almost disappear (if you have small enough pieces. Also, pyrite is lighter than gold and will tend to float and move around before gold even thinks about doing that. I hope that helped and thank you again so much!

    it seems to me that the green one is backwards, in stead of the vee catching the gold it allows the gold to move to the outside edge, and correct me if I’m wrong it looks like there’s an open space about a 1/4” inch wide between the side and the edge of the riffles where material can escape. 😮

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 8 дней назад

      Hey Clint! You're not wrong my friend. It does have a 1/4" gap along the sides so gold can migrate right out. As for running it backwards, I did a follow up video because a lot of people said the same thing. I got the same results running it either way. What you can't see in the video with how I ran it, those riffles actually have a flat drop off. So material collects more in this orientation, rather than the other way. Either way, it does work! Thanks again for the comment and support Clint! Super appreciate you :)

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 7 дней назад

      Hey Clint :) I may of not typed my message clearly. You're right and you definitely don't want the good to migrate down. You want it to hide behind the riffle and you're absolutely right that it could go to the sides and move out of the sluice. That's what I was trying to say. I was trying to be careful with putting it in the middle so it wouldn't do that :) Sorry if I confused you my man. It happens, but you're right 👍

And the beauty of this system, if they do rot, just buy anything 4x4 and slap it in there. Hahaha. Anyway, I hope this helps you and thanks again. I really appreciate it :)

    I just one of these for a stihl pole saw. Any advice how to get replacement files? My local stihl “distributor” just has no clue how to order parts, no clue how they became a certified stihl dealer!

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 11 дней назад

      Hey Jack! Well that sucks! The only other place (and I just checked) is see what file size you currently need, then go to Amazon and type in Stihl replacement file with the size. I just saw a bunch pop up so I know the sizes are there and they should work in your sharpener. Also, if you don't trust that... maybe call another local shop (maybe in a town or two from you) and see if they can ship you a set. That's what would do in your situation and I hope this works out for you. Thanks for the question Jack :)

      Hey Michael! Man I wish I knew who to contact out there. I do know there is some great ground in the upper east side mountains of Oregon but I wouldn't know the first place to get a pan wet. Try researching some areas in those mountains and see if there is a club. You can also try the Columbia River as well. Gold does travel through there and I'm sure you can find some flakes along the banks. My apologies if this didn't help answer your question. I'm mostly a western Washington guy so anywhere else... I'm lost and would be in your same shoes. Good luck out there! I hope you have great luck!

    How do you get the air? Do you have to pack out a compressor?

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 12 дней назад

      Hey Lucas! Thanks for the question. I'm definitely still working on this design and I know it's not perfect but I think it can work. This was done on my property to I have power available to me so I can plug in my pancake air compressor. Would this work in a remote area, not really, unless you have a generator available for power. This is more of an experiment to see if it can work and it kind of can but yes, there are some flaws... big one being you need power and a compressor. Thanks for the comment and support. I really appreciate it Lucas!

    Have you ever consider alternative purchases of Gold and Silver. One month you buy gold and next Silver this creates a balanced portfolio! Dollar cost Averaging is the way to go😮

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 13 дней назад

      Hey Bob! Thanks for commenting and the support! And yes, I have bought silver and gold in the past and did my research before hand to get the most bang for my buck. I just wanted to try one of these crate companies and see what it offered and that's why I only did a 6 month trial run. The best thing I like about it, was the Christmas feeling of not knowing what to expect. Did I get the most bang for my buck, I wouldn't say so, but I was surprised in finding out that I wasn't completely taken advantage of and trust me, I know that can be subjective. As for buying gold and silver, it's always a good idea if you are into it to buy all the time so that yes your DCA evens out. I really don't deal in silver and gold bullion anymore (not saying I won't in the future) it's just that it got too expensive for me at the budget I wanted to commit to it. Anyhow, thank you again so much for your comment and I hope your "stacking" adventure goes well for you. I wish you nothing but riches and happiness :) Stoney

      Hey White tail! I'm actually in the Pacific Northwest where it's pretty mild. And I've always been taught to bury your post a third of the total height of the pole. So if you want a post that's 6 ft high, you should bury 3 feet of it. Now when it comes to your particular area... that could change based off many factors. Thanks for the comment! I appreciate it :)

    Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I really appreciate the efficient production-value of the video; only the relevant information is a relatively short length of time. I also like your design and how you minimized the bill of materials without compromising structural integrity. I need to see if your design will work on my pretty large slope. Can you give an update on how your fence is doing with respect to reliability ~2 years later? Is there anything you would change? Thanks again!

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 13 дней назад

      Todd! Thank you so much for the kind words about this video. I appreciate you and knowing that my effect (as little as it may be) helps someone out there. As for the condition of the fence 2 years later. It's never been stronger and looks as good as new. Everything is tight and solid as a rock. As for your particular slope, yes, that all depends, and this may not work in your situation. As for your other question if I would change anything. I actually would. After the video, I thought about ice accumulating on the bottom slit where the fence goes into.I didn't want the ice to split the wood so I simply drilled 1/4 inch holes along the bottom to simply allow the water to drain. It's an easy adjustment to make the fence work longer. Also with how it's designed, these panels are very easy to take out and replace/fix if necessary. I know that nothing lasts forever and wanted my fence system to be easily fixed and I think I accomplished that with this design. Anyhow, I hope this helps you and again, thanks for the questions and the support. It does mean a lot. I hope you have a great day!

    Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and share your moss removal video. Just been given a quote for roof cleaning - spoiler alert, it was ugly! And so it should be, as it is a lot of very hard graft, not to mention dangerous. That said, I'm no stranger to donkey work, and will happily get into the zone with Audible while plodding away at the mundane task of scraping. Great tip, BTW, regarding the plastic putty knives. Over here, in the UK, shingles are not so common, and we tend to use slate, or concrete. The roof I'll be cleaning is the latter - I might need a fair amount of those putty knives - and I should be able to use a stiff wire brush in addition to manually scraping the worst of the moss away. Once done, I intend to chemically treat the roof, and then apply a coating of breathable sealer.

    Any thoughts why the dishwasher would have no power after the circuit breaker gets turned back on after replacing the motor? Everything seems right back as it was...

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 15 дней назад

      EsBanks, thanks for the question. I honestly have no idea. The only working connections you unhook is the power going in and then the motor connector. I'm sure the motor connector is ok because that can't be inserted a wrong way. From what it sounds like, maybe your power connection to the dishwasher may be acting up. Recheck that your wires are going to the proper connection and also make sure that your wire nuts are on tight. Also, make sure your wires aren't knicked where the metal is because that could cause I short to ground. Trust me. It wouldn't be the first time hooking those up wrong and that would definitely cause your breaker to pop instantly when you apply power. I hope this helps and I hope that's your problem. Let me know what you find.

    • @StoneyCreekSparkchaser
      @StoneyCreekSparkchaser 15 дней назад

      I just reread your comment. You said the dishwasher doesn't have power when the breaker is back on and that it's not popping the breaker. In that instance, make sure your black is going to black and has a solid connection. Also make sure your white goes to white and you have a solid connection. Sometimes our wire nuts can look like they are good but they are actually not. Also, if you have a volt meter and can safely do this, unhook the connection from the dishwasher and you can make sure you have power at the wires, but be careful with the exposed wires.
