I would love to just be able to make my drums sound close to a released track, my samples all sound like the pack took them from other records, i cant seem to get the full, wide feel with drive and shuffle, any tips would be welcome as i feel like ive tried most techniques, my soulful house drums never sound quite right

You could probably separate these into three layers. Your first with the transient, then the rest of it filtered down, then the second sample filtered up to prevent phase cancellation. Skrillex separates out transients.

Be aware that a note is an individual sound' a beat is a group of notes and a measure is a group of beats. If a measure is divided into 16 notes, there are 4 beats with four notes in each beat. This terminology has been around for hundreds of years in musical notation and theory.

The advice you give about the sub frequencies is a little bit ambiguous because the spectrum analyser you use has its own display settings. Change how it displays and you'll have very different looking curves. So "eyeballing" the subs only works if you know your spectrum analyzer well.

I think you are showing good mixing techniques, but depending on how much control you have over the session, it might sometimes be easier to fix the kick directly in the synth by manipulating parameters like ADSR, instead of reshaping with a compressor. Nevertheless, the advice you give is valid in general.

I also organize my samples outside splice (in simple sample folder in my case, add favos in bitwig). But splice as a source of good samples is still worth while (every now ans then i pay for 1 month download a bunch and then quit again

Hey, would you classify Reason 13 as a loop-based DAW or a hybrid DAW? I don't know *a ton* about it, but it is one that I am somewhat considering using. Also, would the following DAWs be worth considering at all?: MOTU Digital Performer 11, Traktion Waveform, and Cakewalk by Bandlab
