Use tube for wires to protect wires and fire 😅
Just binge watched your videos, great job on the build, very informative.
I did mine a year ago and for the front directions said does not need the wire ties. Mine didn’t even have holes. Mine slid right in maybe 10 minutes per side. But night and day in the sway. A bit firmer ride but in heavy wind much more controllable.
Je pensais que pour un van et vibration , la technique pour joindre les files serait plus spécifique. Genre connecteur métal recouvert de plastique,et après avoir pressé les files dans le jointeur il aurait été fondue sur le files . Mais bravo le travail est génial
How did the upper horizontal wood framing member adapt to the angle of the metal support?
I used pine which is flexible
@BuildingVanLife The framing member in particular has about a 20° longitudinal bend. To attach your 1x3 as you did means that there would be a void behind the wood unless your pine is so flexible that it could bend into a v to fit into the angled shape of this crossmember. As I study this member and the middle ones they also do not have good bearing surface. At this point I figure I will shim out both of those areas with an appropriate thickness material, running the full length of the horizontal member so that my one-x's will sit square to the angle of the walls.
What wire did you use to connect to the ball valve? The wire on the valve is so small. Thanks
Just some 10 gauge wire
I would never understand what pushes all developers, systematically follow the curve or bending of a van roof, to save anything on arrival, if not add time to its assembly and additional materials . My ceiling will remain straight without the slightest curvature.
I own a camper vann 3500 promaster & night driving was terrible - the headlights just dont light the road up adequately. So the light bar would be innteresting - not legal but interesting
Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that your videos and content were invaluable to me in my build. Many, many thanks. Your van builds are great and your details for the viewer are the best. I have suggested them to many people. Thanks again
Thank you! Appreciate it
MY NAME IS Eddie Green I AM GETTING READDY TRY TO SET UP A VAN LIFE BUT A AM PARALZED IN A WHEELCHAIR ANY INFORMATION YOU COULD FOR SET UP WOULD EXSTREMLY BE A BLESSING ARE YOU COULD GIVE ME A PRICE FOR YOU BUILDING ME ONE EITHER WAY THANK YOU AND I WATCH ALL YOUR VEDIOS
I framed my 2024 Promaster the same way but went with the pre-bulbed cross/plusnuts. I just like the fact that I can remove and remod anything and use the existing threaded holes. For a Promaster the existing hole sizes for crossnuts are: M5 (the tiny holes @ floor/bottom of beams, rear doors and a few other places), M6 (a few randomly placed), M8 (largest holes and some square cutouts) and 1/4- 20 (hex holes and some square cutouts).
Anyone else blown away by him drilling through metal
As long as he does not drill through the outer metal of the van, it is all good.
I intend to do this with my Promaster. I have the spray can stuff, which I felt was more practical. Allows me to use just the right amount and it doesn't require mixing two tanks to get perfection. Lots of phony stories floating around about spray foam, how it warps metal and "off-gasses" you to death, and it goes all over the place so you have to spend hours cleaning it all up. Talk to professionals who tell me only to spray 1/4-1/2 thick on the first layer, then let it cure then go around and build a second layer to 1" which will give you R6. Lots of guys are using "mouse-house" 3M Thinsulate while others are using stick-on closed cell that melts off in hot weather. Nothing compares to a good closed-cell spray foam, that's why the reefer companies use it.
Why are you using speaker wire and not 12 awg red black wire for the usb and lights
it's 10 gauge wire. 10 gauge is better than 12 gauge. The color of the insulation on the outside makes zero difference.
I'd still love to know how you stop it rusting on the outside of the van. Plus, how to give it a nice finish outside. No video I've seen shows that. I've seen at least 15 videos as well. Thanks
How much would you charge to build Ford transit 350 high roof?

@@BuildingVanLife I’m serious. I will appreciate you if you build a van for me and I will pay you … I’m in Philly .. I don’t know where you at but I can bring a van to you or you come to Philly and I have a place for you to stay and work.
@@AHMEDRAGAB-lr5jt Thanks but I'm not looking to relocate, I'm in California. You would have to get the van here.
What screws did you use when you done that change of the framework, was it strong fixing with screws, watching from uk great videos
Not sure what you’re referring to. What’s the timestamp
9.35 I'm on about when you changed the Framing to vertical, I'm thinking did you still use the 6 gauge screws or what size did you use, I'm thinking of using 2×1 battens do you think they would be strong enough
@@projectzorgo1085 I used 1''5/8 self drilling wood/drywall to metal screws. They are 6 gauge. I get them from home depot here in the US but you can find them at any hardware store by you. @BuildingVanLife thank you for your quick replies, 1:30 am here 😴 🥱 and watching your videos. I hope your channel grows. You deserve it
Sorry i didn't see your reply. Thank you
Keep up the good work.
I don't usually comment on videos but man, of the hundreds of videos/series I've watched trying to do this as an amateur with limited tools, your series has BY FAR been the most helpful and gotten me out of my head to just get out and start doing it. Thank you!
Thank you, glad it helped!
Thanks for the walkthrough! I'm looking to insulate a van. I was thinking to insulate just past the wood frame then shave it back before installing the walls and ceiling. I'll be using may van across the Southeast and keeping it cool will be my focus. How much of a gap did you have from the insulation to your wall? It looks like there is a good amount of space that could still be filled. Open to any suggestions you have!
if you look at the next video in the series where i install the walls i fill the extra gaps with some extra chunks of fiberglass insulation so there is basically no gap.
Thank you for the great content and showing us how us non-professional van builders can do these installs. The background music was a bit annoying, in my humble opinion. I have a PM 3500 159” Ext and will be watching your video series for how-to instruction. Thanks, again.
Does the swivel seat lock into forward position when you want it to? And does this swivel kit that you’ve linked work for a 2016 promaster?

Love your built🎉
Really cool build man. How much did it sell for if you don't mind my asking? How does one contact you?

@ Okay. Thanks.
Hey great vid. It's been 8 months. Are you still happy with the Sumo upgrade? Did they meet your expectations?
Yes they worked out great. I would recommend doing them
@@BuildingVanLife Thanks man
Why didn't you use rivet nuts?
No insulation and sound deadening what?
Do you actually not know insulation goes in after framing?
You should have buried your cables in some kind of flexible ductwork so you can pull the cables in and out if you ever get a fault
1 spacer is correct for 90% of ram promaster. You should have a space of .5" of space. nice video
A pat on the back for not filling the rocker panel with foam A few really good tips for your next build Or viewers looking to get the most out of spray foam : #1 I used many tall cans of rubberized spray after scuffing panels and metal framing Along with the rear doors This does not stop cold air However it slows the transfer of forced convection (Cold air blowing on thin metal) / radiant heat..like a steel pan And a coated steel pan that takes longer to get up to temp. Any exposed metal in the van has the same results #2 With pocket holes leading into the rockers And a large gap in the rear doors You want to cover them up to spray over them For the pocket holes i used over lapping pieces of duct tape tight together (Foam does cure over it without burning it) Side note: I stuck a 5 inch long coat hanger in 3 places along, before i sprayed and removed them after for a small pressure release for opening and closing doors For the doors i used cheap plastic poster board you can buy at a Dollar store Or crafts place And done the same method. #3 Your wood / furring framing You can coat one side with the spray rubber if you did not spray where it is going to screw into (damp wood with hot and cold rots/warps/weakens it) I also done a very thin frame work to the rear doors About 3 paint sticks thick 1/3 inch? leaving one access point at the bottom of the rear doors for license plate lighting wires And made a wood mini cabinet without a door that pulls out when needed. I filled the doors with spray foam And shaved it flush to the framing Then added flexible thin paneling And spray glued my canvas type material #4 Red packing tape You will want to remove all the extra spray foam off the wood framing after you spray You can ether get a putty knife and scrape for 5 mins to a full hour depending on the mess Or peel away the tape. #5 Don't bury your wires in foam. What happens when down the road you want to add a plug in Or something breaks down And you have to replace it? Find yourself the ideal size of Mini PVC piping for the amount of wires you will have Use them down both sides of the van with 2 per side T outlets The outlets make it more simple to fish a wire thru Or pull one out Then you can foam over it leaving the T part exposed #6 The pros of hiring a pro...If you never done spray foam before By the time you understand the expansion rate And the areas you need to address first you are almost done The bad thing about that is many factors But the most common is nooks and crannies you missed And some panels have more foam And others less foam And you no longer have foam in the bottles to fix this. What was your method to know exactly How thick your foam was? is the foam the same thickness thru out the van? - The pro's have a "high tech" tool to know this And with a total of 100 gallon drums They do not run out of foam And if you say you want Min 3" inches That is what you get. #7 High tech tool. Not many bother to find out how much foam they have Just that they have some So here is my tip on the high tech tool....Get yourself a measuring ruler with inches on it Measure 8 inches on a coat hanger wire And cut it Now if you wanted the target of 3 inchs of foam measure the wire 3 inches from the tip Mark it The wrap tape around that mark with the tape line facing you ....Poke the foam hard till it stops there is your 3 inch line.....Do this on all the panels eyeball if the whole panel is level with the 3 inch mark fill as needed I have many more but this is long .....hope it helps
Great job. Well thought through nice planning.
thank you!
You're gaining 1.5 inches but on both sides and so 3 inches makes a difference.
How long does it last the lpg gas ...??
I had the van for a year before I sold it and it didn’t run out yet
Thank you for the easy steps by steps install instructions. I'm so happy with the mod and your right is super bright thank you.
glad it worked out
Great solution!
I just finished this on my Pro master using the exact same approach. Thank you for that! However, I can’t imagine having the wire gland facing that way. It seems to me it should face the other way.
This was very helpful and informative. Just wondering, should the wheel wells be sprayed with insulation too?
You can. I build a box around them later on and then fill the box with insulation
Clean install..... nice job
Have been following your channel for some time now.....just binge-watched your videos again. Great stuff! Are you still doing custom builds? Im interested!
@@fredzuccarelli not building one at the moment. Maybe in the future
Nice work, great tips brother.
Im wanting a van and i dont have money for building a wall and all that mice stuff. Im doing a no build. Just throwing my stuff in the van and live. So what would you recommend for insulation please? I seen some black one idk whats it xalled. Please help.
That would be the 3m insulate. A lot of people use it. It’s kind of expensive but it’s an ok option. Not as good as the spray foam in my opinion
@BuildingVanLife can you do spray foam and live in the van still? Or is it dangerous?
Little tip, use packers or spacers in the roof to get it even, running strips lengthwise
