@@BuildingVanLife low key tho I'm using this video as a go-by for my own van build project :). So thanks!
Excellent - interested to see you glued the cross beams down this time….
- I ordered my PM 2500 right after ur first vid… so stoked…. Will be at least 6 months
The adhesive is only there to cut down on the creaking, not to hold the floor down. Like i explained in the older video the floor is held in place by it's shape but mostly once you screw things into the wall and into the floor later in the build.
That's gotta be the most beautiful home depot storefront I've ever seen
Which location is it?
Costa Mesa CA
Best videos out there, we just picked up a 2021 Promaster 2500 with 5K miles, went to home depot for the sub floor wood, I guess here in Maine we don't get exact 1x4's, but found some pressure treated.
You have to look around they are hidden in there with the pine. You could also use 3/4 insulation if you have to
Nice 😊
This might be a dumb question but do you put the quarter on the underneath of the van when sealing the holes as well? And what do you think about the JB weld steal stick vs. the marine sealant?
I only seal the floor of the van, not underneath. I'm not familiar with JB Weld, but I absolutely love the marine sealant, it's the best I've used.
Wow, you didn't waste any time getting started on the van, it took me a week after work to finish my floor.
It helps I’ve done this so many times. It’s definitely starting to go faster now
You have the best video! Is it better to put some sound deadening (e.g. Kilmat) on the floor?
I have found it to be completely unnecessary
@@BuildingVanLife Thanks! That's also what I thought
@@BuildingVanLifewhat about on the walls?
@@TrailersYT with the spray foam insulation I show in the later video. The sound insulation is already incredible. You won’t need it
@@BuildingVanLife Thank you for the quick response! I am planning on doing it with Armaflex because it is much cheaper. Do you think I will need the Kilmat on the sides?
Love the vids man such an inspiration. What would you estimate $$ you have total in this build?
Really nice video! How do you scribe the wheel arch shape into the ply when the ply is wider than the space available? Is there a trick I'm not aware of?
I just scribe it on a piece of cardboard and then transfer that to the plywood
my question is, when you put the screws into the flooring and then strips, are they going into the van as well, or is weight and alignment just holding it all in place? wondering about water penetration if you are screwing into the floor.
One inch wood frames, 3/4 plywood. 1” 5/8 screws. The screws do not go into the van. I explain in the other videos that’s it’s held in place because of the shape and weight but it’s also completely immobilized later when I start screwing things into the floor and also into the walls. See later videos in description
@@BuildingVanLife what about a sofa or 2nd row seats? Any thoughts on how those would be installed with the floor like you’ve installed it?
@@kurtbmiller I think I have several videos on the channel building seats. But essentially you will screw it into the floor and screw it into the walls once it’s built.
I asked in an earlier video.. What is the SKU of the full sized 1x4's in this build.. Where in the store did you go to find them? The clerk could only show me common 1x4 (3/4x3 1/2)
Try another location, sometimes they don't all have them, it was near the pine.
Is there something you like about the 2500 159wb over the 3500 159 extended?
I like the size of the non extended. It’s just right for me. It can fit in parking spaces and it’s enough room for me
Boooooom!
Me again, how to you get the side door strapping level with the other strapping? Seems to be on a angle, The same with the other small piece against the wall?
Hmm not sure what you mean. What’s at an angle?
If you used extruded polystyrene, you wouldn’t need to frame under your subfloor.
Spray foam underneath the van - so much easier and you don't lose height
How is underneath the van easier? Seems to me it would be a heck of a lot more difficult to access and make sure you are actually covering everything evenly while not creating issues with undermounted parts.
