Is this really patched though? I finished the game two weeks ago (btw it is fantastic) and my build ended up being Rattle'em'off + draw whole deck t1. Once you have 19 cards out of 20 in hand, you can just spam Baptiste's +1 patience card at no cost and therefore gain infinite patience.

It would be a convenient excuse to travel there for the first time, assuming i ever get some (four player) wins for the first time. Oh well.

I have mained Italy in diplomacy for years and vagabond strangly scratches that itch where you have to play everyone against each other and board communication is incredibly important picking a friend to trade with and beef up usely the weakest of the factions and attacking the other people nakes for the most fun i have playing vagabond

I tried to do early damage againts woodland aliance as birds. Rolling 2x 3 and 0. Emotional damage hasn’t heal yet. 😢 But yeah, i felt that low birds count = sad birds.

otters losing trade posts doesnt matter, so long as they don't keep funds in the bank. The only play against otters is to never buy from them, but as soon as 1 opponent breaks that pact, the other dominoes will fall like a house of cards...checkmate.

I must be an imposter or something, since I only played one game as the eyrie and lost due to tunneling on domination instead of just getting the victory points. I feel like in the later game they just multiply everywhere and can still overwhelm you with numbers and sheer number of cards since at least when I played, 4 out of 5 times there was a card to retrieve your fallen warriors and put them in the keep. Guess I still have a long way to go to really get the enjoyment of the game down, especially once I get past the base game and into the dlc.

My buddies and I tried the new expansion and my Marquise playthrough got completely squashed in the beginning by the Twilight Council as they used broad starting presence as a spreading vector and proceeded to have 5 debate-offs wiping a vast amount off my map presence, my forge in mouse territory and the league of adventurous mice I was banking on 😭

Played Lizards last night and had a real hard time (surprise to no one). Two main challenges/questions: 1) Outside of securing the initial two gardens in the starting clearing, how do you recommend acquiring more? With cats and birds, building slots got taken up fast. Just existing with warriors was not enough of a threat to gain many acolytes via Revenge. 2) How do you deal with Sympathy? Given that the ability to crusade is limited by the outcast suit *and* requires acolytes, it felt like the WA could pretty freely bomb my most valuable clearings without much recourse.

You can easily balance games of root by giving the player who is struggling more cards per turn. Start by +1 and see how he/she does it. Or, you can give cats +1 point for things that they build. This is also true for all the other factions. Make up a list of what works for a ballanced game. Or just watch this video and git gud! :D

Consilidqting Might be a good idea in the classic setup, but definetely not in the advanced setup, wich you should totally use! And that “Might” about classic setup, is a BIG MIGHT!

Who would ever allow Cats advanced setup? They already are broken good early game and they got BUFFED? Like it’s so expensive and boring to try and attack their buildings and they have them 4 extra warriors on the base xD

Otters rock in theory but as you point out, at a serious game (and because the victory condition is too easy to rush) the best strategy is to literally not play the game and idle dividends

I hated export from the tutorial because my game theory training told me “spend an action, a fund, AND a card that could be bought….and convert a warrior that could fight and defend me into 1 fund”… that’s fucking awful as I have to pay to actively convert a useful warrior into a useless fund (also how does turning one of your own company’s warriors into money work in-universe

The despot sucks. Build is the easiest way to turn oil because you don’t have the action economy and clearings get built on VERY fast

Cards don’t work! I can build as many movement cards and don’t get any extra moves. This faction really could use 2 extra warriors so they aren’t horribly passive

Hi, congratulations on the video, really exhaustive. I wanted to ask you where you found the images (I guess png) of the root characters. I also love ROOT and I have an Italian channel, only that to make beautiful videos I'm going mad by dint of "cropping" the png one by one. My goal with ROOT (in my small way), is to grow the Italian community, but at the moment there are not many resources, unlike the community that is very large but still fragmented. If you can help me I would be very grateful; have a good day.

And late next year, we can truly have an ALL-BIRD Root game! Eyries, Corvids, the Adventurer, and the upcoming Goose Vagabond! AND CUTE DUCK HIRELINGS. I originally came here just to write the above, and then discovered the 2nd half of the vid was Wingspan. How convenient, as tomorrow I plan to play it for the "first time" tomorrow (I did play a practice game of 2 rounds yesterday). So this was a nice primer before I actually go find the PDF of the rules. So thanks for the serendipitous help! Even if I don't win tomorrow, as long as I get the Blue Jay, I'll have a good time. But after I saw with my own eyes how BIG the Bird deck is.... pray for me. Only reason I'm even playing Wingspan is because it has been brought to the game board group I go to, so, many, times. Figure I finally try it. I predict I'll only play it once though, as I tend to stick my nose up and snub "multiplayer solitaire" games. I THRIVE on interplay, those are "real" games to me. And messing with my opponents is fun.

All the players I know just reiquire immediate return of funds as the terms of the trade. Tbh if I see otter not return funds I just wont buy from him.
