Russia is not here
Ronny from Norway
norway is the best sport nation in the world have if you take winter sport and sommer sport. Ronny from norway. Norway is before usa
Growing up, I competed in athletics, cross-country skiing, tae kwon do and track running. It was all for fun, and I was never pressured into anything. Now I mostly do powerlifting (with some skiing and running on the side), and I can't really imagine my life without sports.
Olympiatoppen has benefitted the average wannabe athlete, or hobby athlete, tremendously. When I started lifting weights in the 80's in Norway I was severely undernourished wrt protein. I read Muscle & Fitness, Ironman and Flex and even imported protein supps from the US. Which the customs agents automatically assumed were steroids. But Olympiatoppen eventually paved the way for the actually needed intake for an athlete. "You mean Olympiatoppen actually recommends 1.8 gram of protein per kg of bodyweight for a strenght athlete"`? That was mind blowing for some of us: You mean we are actually being listened to in a rational way? Sure enough, today something like Proteinfabrikken is mainstream. (Not affiliated, but a very early customer.) Gymgrossisten. Even Kinsarvik in Bergen were early adopters. Yes, it has resulted in some dudebros thinking they can build muscle only drinking whey protein shakes and not eating their fish and potatoes. But you gotta take the bad with the good. OK, rant over :)
Sport are an important thing for Norwegians. I played football from I was 6 years old until I was 25. The video describes our sports culture very well with the youth sports. But I thing our strategy is logical: statistics says that Norway need around 3000 football players to make 1 elite player (Norwegian top tier and higher). It's a higher chance to make elite players if we allow everyone to participate 😊
the real reason is discrimination of young boys in Norway. Schools and jobmarket is rigged for females and so no girls choose risky career paths but many talented young boys are not seen in school and have slim chances in regular jobmarket. So therefore we see the extreme male success in risky careers like sports and music and no females from Norway succeeding.
You should react to the Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway) vs Josh Kerr (Scotland) beef, lol
(Norway and Scotland are both currently middle/long-distance powerhouses. Interestingly, they've got almost the exact same population, 5.55 millions and 5.44 millions)
Legendary!
This is not apply to our immigrants so do your maths.....
The reason for sunglasses is that we are afraid of going snowblind. Lol. Sun? I 've heard about it! 😂
We like cabins alot! Good for skiing in the winter, fishing/hunting in the summer or just to get away and set everything on pause for a while. Dugnad is one of the thing Im most proud of as a Norwegian. Helping your local community with mowing lawns, throwing away trash, refurneshing the area and things like that. It makes living there alot cheaper, and the neighbours get to talk to eachother! And if you meet a Norwegian in the forest, we are the most open people in the world! But as they said, allways say hi. Its creepy if you dont. Love youre videoes btw! Keep em coming!
This is true for Norwegians as a group. The reason why you talk to strangers when you are out in nature is that you make others aware of where you are going. The weather in Norway, and especially in the mountains, is very unstable, and it can be dangerous to stay outside if you are not well prepared. If you were to get lost, it is more likely that someone will be able to tell where you were on your way, and search can be made in the area in question.
Yeah, we follow a lot of EU regulations, we are part of EEC, and we have to give something in return to stay in the European market. We could have been dicks and cut of gas and oil to EU-members, but that would never be productive to Europeans or Norwegians. And they would get it anyways from dictatorships. However, i do not think that Norway will ever join the EU, as they are governed today. Somethings are just not part of Norwegians values. My opinion
And a salmon river runs right through the city. Around Oslo there is a lot of trout fishing possibilities and for hiking.Unfortunately it's very expensive to live there. But there are good alternatives living in towns around with short way visiting.
And Magnus Carlsen is already forgotten 😮 Probably a too easy question 😊
Girl in red was also the opening act for Billie Eilish on the 2022 tour.
I am most proud of the very talented musicians in the band a-ha and all their great music!
Women are often fronted in media; education, jobs and so on as important persons, but here they don't dare to use a woman more than only once.
I'm Norwegian and have never heard of The Girl In Red. I am 50, though :)
gen-z music she's very known on tiktok i guess
@@leoalextk I’m 55 and big fan 🤩
I’m most proud of the singer/songwriter AURORA💙🦋 Billie Eilish was inspired by her👍
We like haaland and martin, great players, but we really just want to take part in the world cup😂
We live in eternal hope. It will mever happen, of course, but hope springs eternal, right? :)
@ i think we have more hopes now then in a long time😊
@@Randomdude21-e I appreciate your optimism :)
I have actually been to Hell and back!! I used to live in Trondheim... :)
would be cool if you watched Ylvis Big in Kyrgizstan & the final product "Ylvis - Janym" you get to see them be themselves and also interacting with an interesting fellow. And most of it is in English.
For classical musik lovers there is always Edvard Grieg and his home, for lovers of the '7sisters' series by Lucinda. Riley there are the feeling to soak in and places to visit, of course.
I went to the same school with Johan for 9 years.. were the same age. He was never really funny as a kid. Not like the class comedian, if you get me.
"Hunter-gatherers".. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue in a Scottish accent.. ;-)
So happy that you are able to collab with your twin brother <3
Also the sport Biathlon , historically comes from soldiers on skies, comparative training during war, and the hole heavy metal destroying wasn't possible without 'soldiers'/resistance in Norway on skies.
We have not only pouring rain as bad weather, but snowstorms, winds....
Something I feel is often forgotten, is how many idioms we in Norway use that originates from sports, like ‘gå først i løypa’, to be ‘skeiv i skøytene’, ‘hoppe etter Wirkola’, ‘komme skjevt ut (fra hoppkanten)’ etc.
I knew only 'først på mølla...'
There is a very good Norwegian podcast about the Norwegian kings and queen, named 'Kongerekka'. But unfortunately it's in Norwegian.Ask N RK, the broadcaster, if they had an English version.
coming from Germany, but beeing Norwegian now, I'm against the EU, especially the currency and I'm for having our kingdom. Having a president sucks, because often a politian, who the party wanted to fire, but can not, get the job and often Germans didn't remember his name!
Nowadays the competition in Biathlon between the Norwegian elite team and the youngsters is crazy. If we would allowed to we could have 12 good to very good athletes in the men's elite team, but sadly we have only 6....😁
The last years Btits complained about the tree, because they found it so ugly, but this years tree seems great and to their taste.😀The Brits had helped, that was enough.
The rule of free education /University for everyone is outdated, check the rules, if you are interested, but the last thing I heard, it's free for EU/EWR/EØS citizens and Switzerland.
Yes, I've had a DNA-test. I'm 93% Norwegian and 7% Finnish. We've had extensive geneological research on my fathers side, but not on my mother, where the Finnish genes comes from, so it's a bit of a mystery. Could be that I'm related to Kven or Sámi people or that a great-great grandfather moved in from Finland.
❤❤❤❤!!
I'd say the "Simula" first object-oriented programming language was a ground-breaking invention at the time and "the father" for other languages like C++, Java, etc.
A funny one is: " Det er helt Texas". Meaning: Its Texas. Meaning it is crazy. Lol
There is one I tend to use that wasn't in this video. As I have a specific dialect it'd be "Ka i granskauen" but written correctly in bokmål it'd be "Hva i granskauen" It translates to "what in the fir forest" Usually used instead of cusswords, like saying "what the hell are you doing?" but replacing hell with granskauen. "Hva i granskauen er det du holder på med?"
I am Norwegian, and I use these regularly as a natural part of speaking Norwegian.
Interestingly enough, the saying "ugler i mosen" originated from an older expression "ulver i mosen" (wolfes in the moss). The words for owls and wolfes are quite similar. It makes a little more sense for there to be wolfes in the moss, I think. But it's a fun expression nonetheless.
The saying comes from Denmark. Myr in Danish is moss, so it means "ulver i myra". Wolves in the swamp mean of course that there is danger on the way, but the meaning has changed over the years.
@ahkkariq7406 Oh, I guess I was a little wrong there. Sorry about that. Thanks for correcting me.
Yes, this is what it sounds like
I have no knowledge about DNA at all. So the letters and numbers doesn’t mean much to me. In the end I feel like that the cultural history is much more relevant. Yes, one can sometimes see a difference between certain people, but I think the difference today has more to do with cultural and social factors than DNA. Great video though!
I did a test recently and found I had 70% "scandinavian" DNA origin, rest was finnish, French/german and british. And 1 percentage from deep amazon. But yeah, I knew of this, but I do not think all Norwegians do. And for the Sami, they were treated bad for a long time, but not so much in the viking age. Worse in the christian period and worst in recent history until the 1980's. Norwegification it was called, kind of. One of the darkest chapters of Norwegian history. Today they have their own "Sameting", kind of their own governing structure and their own language rights and cultural rights, along with increased protection for their reindeer herding. But not without problems. There were different kind of Sami people. If not for many Sami loosing their language and culture attachment in the Norwegification period from the 1700s onwards, more would be Sami today. But there are maybe 100,000 but not all speak Sami as many lost their language and links to the culture.
The Samis did not get to Scandinavia before the Scandinavians. 💯
It was warm'er in norway back in the Viking age, bronze age and back
I'm a norwegian forest finn so I'm 25% finnish, 70% scandinavian, 2,5% Inuit and 2,5% southern italian. The Sami people pay less tax have cheaper electricity etc. They have their own government and flag aswell.
Sykt
Why do Sami pay less tax than the rest of Norway?
"Finnmarksfradraget" 30000 nkr in 2024..
@@larsbjrnson3101 ah, so it's because they live in the north, not because they're sami, got it
Its not only the Sami people I think ? It's all of Finnmark that gets subsidies! To counteract centralization, we need dentists, occupational therapists, taxi drivers and so on for people there too!
Well if ever asked Siri for something on your phone, Siri is a Norwegian invention. If you been in the army you maybe have thrown a hand grenade? This one is a Norwegian invention. Maybe you have given money to aid, for victims of land mines? Well unfortunately the land mine is a Norwegian invention. Rescue Anne is a Norwegian invention, the doll you practice first aid on, breathing and heart compressions The outboard boat engine is a Norwegian invention 😊😊
What would Nobel say about advancing a hand grenade?😁
