The console just came out too late and had nothing of anything to offer hardware wise and had discs with low storage space which made it hard for developers to port games.......

Easily one of my favorite games of all time. Probably the #1 thing which sticks out for me in F-Zero GX was the blinding speed. Unmatched in it's exhilaration. Good thing the handling was so precise. Back in the day, I even had the opportunity to use my custom cars in the F-Zero AX arcade cabinet. If you thought handling the cars with a GC controller was hard, try doing it behind the wheel in a gyroscope. 😵‍💫

I have a modded gamecube that I run swiss on, and use an HDMI adapter and run some games on 576i/p and they still look great (better than this video). The gamecube is kind of my sweet spot for consoles since it was my last console as a teen/pre-teen before I got into PC gaming and PC building

F-Zero always "wiped" the floor with the WipeOut games, WipeOut feels slow, clunky, and boring in comparison...

F-Zero GX is very good, but it's not better than F-Zero X. F-zero X has better gameplay, the combat is much better (when you use the move to hit the oponent, it has weight, GX feels like the cars are made of paper, and is even hard and not satisfying to destroy the oponent car), and the soundtrack is in another level in comparison.

This game is an absolute masterpiece. So much to do, so much to unlock. I just completed all the story mode missions on very hard difficulty. Probably the hardest thing I've done in any video game ever. With f zero tho, you know its your mistake when you fail or come in second place, rather it being complete rng in other games

This is one game that needs a remaster, Nintendo should bin Mario Kart 9 as we don't need another one after how much content 8 Deluxe has..... Just remaster this game instead and give online!

Man, the hours I sunk into this - it came to a point where it was just twitch reflexes. This and Outrun were the absolute peak arcade racers

maybe the reason we still dont have a new f-zero is cause nintendo is afraid they can never make a sequel that can match, much less surpass gx

Missed a major opportunity to show off perfect polygonal performance in the form of the realistic bouncing of the females' breasts in Soul Calibur 2.. but good video otherwise.

Fzero GX/AX and Panzer Dragoon Orta were post-hardware Sega at their best. Not really sure what happened beyond that because Sega been phoning it in with shovelware the last 20 years. Regarding the GameCube hardware, it’s important to put in perspective the gecko would be Nintendos foundation for the Wii and WiiU, which were both essentially just overclocked GameCubes with a little more RAM. The GameCube was the last time Nintendo was actually competing for performance, and of its generation it was possibly the most capable, though Xbox, on paper, had stronger numbers, cross-platform ports often played superior on GC.

Best racing game of ALL TIME hands down. Perfectly optimized. Insane amount of content. I have 100%ed this game twice. It's still just as much of a challenge and I can't wait for a possible Switch 2 game for this... Also, the music in GX adds so much life and pop to the game. Unparalleled! If anyone can get their hands on the Wii U emulated port for this game with the upscaled resolution. It's dope. A PC emulated version in 4K also looks sick.

F-zero is the goat, its disgusting that Nintendo havent tried something with it after all these years.

I remember how hard GX was when I first played the story. It was probably one of the hardest racing games I ever played.

It's worth mentioning that Studio Liverpool wasn't able to get their hands on a PS2 dev unit for the first stretch of Wipeout Fusion's development. They were working under the assumption that the PS2's hardware would be similar to a high-end PC of the time, and wrote their code accordingly. When they finally did receive a dev unit, they quickly realized that their code was mostly incompatible with the hardware, and had to restart from (almost) scratch.

I owned a dreamcast first, and then a ps2 and then xbox. Then i got the gamecube and i thought the GC looked the best in its own way. Same with the dreamcast. Overall the xbox looked the best tho. Ps2 looked the worst to me but ps2 was my overall favorite out of all of them.

Really appreciate your analysis emphasizing the aesthetics and "feel" of the game, over specs on paper. I feel like playing on a CRT if possible is also a crucial part of the style of these low res 6th gen titles. Ico especially, considering it runs at 240p, which makes it look incredible on a tube tv. I was considering the remake, but I'm picking up a copy on PS2 soon to play on my CRT, in a dark room with good speakers. I thought Ico was incredible, so I can't wait

I loved my Gamecube. Through much of that generation, it was the only console I had. Even after I got a PS2, I really didn't play it that much. I agree that it is an underrated console, ESPECIALLY at the time. Owning it, and playing the best games felt like some kind of exclusive club that most people didn't get to be a part of, because it was just a small pocket of people that knew about the games, and discussed them. Great video!

With many Nintendo games getting a new life, like Linnk's awakening, I wouldn't be surprised if they make a Super Metroid with new graphics

When will we get a HD Remaster for this game? Are they scared people won't by another racer game again once they find out about F-Zero GX?

If you want a game to make your eyes bleed, this is it. There were rumours at the time that with this game being so fast, it actually blew up TV's because they couldn't handle it. Not sure if this was true or not but still funny because it seems believable.

Nintendo does more with less. I’m very late to Mario Odyssey but I’ve just unlocked mushroom kingdom… Considering that I play a lot of Xbox Series X, 4K HDR OLED screen etc, I’ve not experienced anything close to the joy of seeing that Mario 64 castle recreated on the Switch… it’s BEAUTIFUL.

GX is my favorite racing game. Holy smokes that campaign though. I remember I would try and try to be at a level on hard or very hard. It was such a a rush when I finally beat a new one. Most days though I'd just fail, and pivot to playing a Grand Prix or two.

I... actually manage to beat Story Mode in all difficulties... each one done on the highest difficulty unlocks and AX racer

It'd be nice to have more F-Zero games like this unlike that multiplayer F-Zero on the switch

I played Metroid Prime Remaster in 2023. Never played the original, 'cause I was a PS2 kid. One of the best experiences I had as a gamer. Can't believe that game is 20 plus years old.

How have they not made a new F-Zero game yet is a crime cuz it would fit in so much, f COD bring back this classic, they should release a new game cuz soon we are getting Mario Cart 9 unless it's already out, companies need to listen to the people that buy their stuff otherwise it could be like another Volition downfall although I doubt it cuz Nintendo is way bigger then them

After learning all the tricks from Chen about f-zero I beat the hardest difficulty mode. The „bugs“ really are are feature in this game, so much, that it makes mastery incredibly satisfying. It’s sad that I haven’t found a sci-fi racing game that feels so crisp in its handling like gx. I found rx too floaty to play even though the colour changing was interesting

you can buy f-zero gx's soundtrack as a reprint from japan for like $15, makes for a 10/10 driving experience
