I am playing this game for the 3rd time now. So i thought is there anyone else who is still missing this game in 2024 or not. I have played several games, and there has been many game which had very interesting and memorable story. But this game has something, that brings me back again and again. I guess, it is its way of presenting story, awesome music, unique gameplay not clustered with hundreds of silks and power to acquire. And made in such a way that players can play it over and over again after a break of few months.
I have never had the chance to play this game back then. I countless times played God of War 1 and 2, Resident Evil 4, and other classic PS2 games. Yet somehow I missed Shadow of Colossus.
This is a really great video. You articulated so much of what I've thought about this game since I first played it. I appreciate the PS4 version existing, but the ethereal nature of the original is lost. I'd say The Last Guardian feels more like PS2 SOTC than the PS4 SOTC does. Good stuff, man.
There is other reason to play PS2 version rather than the Remake one >Bluepoint team does not understand the games they remaking and most time ruined it becuase they thought know better than Original Dev
I've been there from the beginning & S.O.T.C. is still fascinating almost 20 years later. I find the original look of the game other-worldly & even though the PS4 remake doesn't capture that look, it's so gorgeous that it's hard to complain. No matter what version of the game you play it's a unique experience. By the way the widescreen is true widescreen adding extra picture to the sides & chopping nothing off the top & bottom. However...if you turn on Progressive Scan picture information will be chopped off. Nice discussion.
my first three consoles as a kid were the Atari 2800, a PS2 and a Phat PS3. I played more on my Atari and PS2 then I did on my PS3. I didn’t care about graphics, I cared about gameplay, and I loved repetition. It was a game that I still today, have so much awe for as the amount of effort to make such a demanding game on such an old console, showed the power of the playstation. Same thing eventually happened when the PS4 rolled around, played on my PS3 more than I did the latter.
The general idea of mystery game is ok, music is very good, but... these monsters are not scary, they look more goofy, killing them is like butchery ...
I wonder if they had left the fur out on thr giants if the game would run better. They should release the PS2 version on PS5 store, like they did with Jak and Daxter (but upscaled to HD)

This is cool, I replay this game every couple years, a different version each time, it always pulls me back.

Dude your voice is great to listen to! If you keep doing this kind of stuff I think you'll go great places
Thank you! I appreciate it
Already ahead of its time, i find it even still challenging playing it now
Yeah this game feels both like a timeless classic and still ahead of modern games in some ways
This masterpiecewill not be forgotten even though it is drowned by time
OOT and epona one taps this game...

Wait, the PS2 was aging 20 years ago?? I remember getting one like it was yesterday! Time just flies too fast...
Yeah, its crazy to think the ps2 is 25 years old basically

Thanks for sharing and clarifying those details!

Yeah every time I revisit the game I can't believe they made that experience on a ps2
I WILL be subscribing
Thank you!

it is a butchery - the first colossi is not even hostile; the ending changes the perspective of protagonist's actions

Is the ps3 version better experience in your opinion
I think for newcomers it's definitely a better experience, but I like all three versions of the game in different ways so it's hard for me to pick one
