I thought I heard that this was supposed to be a trilogy but changed to 5 books and I am not sure if that was the publisher asking her to do that to make more money off the series or Rebecca decided she needed more time to tell the full story and wanted to avoid big chonky books like Sarah J Maas, Jennifer Armentrout, and Cassandra Clair. I just hate to have to wait until what...2027 for this series to be complete? Also, she released a book inbetween this series which was annoying if she wrote it when she should be been working on this series or if that other book was already written and was put on pause to get the fantasy book out. Which now that I think about it may have been the case? Honestly, I need to read this book again because I rushed to read it so I didn't end up seeing a spoiler online. Luckily I was able to dodge any before I read it but I didn't get to appreciate the story like I normally would reading a book. So I might skim through it and stop at certain chapters to get more info that I might have missed in the first round. My Goodreads rating of the first book was 5 stars and 4 stars for Iron Flame and this one. I rated them 4.75, 4.5 and 4.5 on StoryGraph. What was the signifigance of adding Broccoli to the story? That was out of left field and didn't add anything to the storyline that I noticed. Am I wrong? Did I miss something? Someone please let me know if I am.

I've heard buzz about Water Moon and got the Owlcrate book. I don't get Illumicrate so no worries about dupe books from them. I just get them from Fairyloot when they choose the same YA book that Owlcrate does. I think it's pretty and love the artwork, especially the hardcover. I skipped the Evernight book but kind of regret it. I need to reign in my book box orders because they are out of hand and I have so many books I need to get more bookshelves. My husband is going strangle me if my book piles get any worse (which they will). I have 4 preorder Apollycon excusive books coming from JLA. I finished that series recently and I'm waiting for the last book in the Blood and Ash series to come out this year. My only complaint about both series is they could have been shortened by not being repetative with some of the undyling love comments and internal monologe from the FMC's in both series. Other than that I liked the story and how it spanned over time.

I gave this book a 4 star also. Yes, the stuff with Dain was so funny. I’m honestly surprised by how many people were confused by the beginning of the book. I personally did not have that problem. I have a theory about the beginning. SPOILERS I think that Imogen may have erased Violet’s memory at the beginning after the prologue. That’s probably why we jump to two weeks later in chapter 1. What happened in those two weeks? I bet in book 4 we will get more Imogen chapters. I just hope Rebecca doesn’t fumble the series.

I thought I forgot everything when reading the first 100 pages cause it didn’t made any sense. I loved the first 2 books and I hated this one. I didn’t like the storyline, the romance stuff, it could have done without the smut. Only thing I liked were the islands, the expansion of the world. I read the Dutch translation and I think it lacked editing and the translation wasn’t very good. I regret not picking the English books.

**SPOILERS** I just finished this one yesterday - the fact that it took almost 2 weeks tells me how much I struggled. I was actually one of the people who loved Iron Flame as well. The only reason I finished and rated it so high was because of how much I already loved the world/characters and the first two books. Do you have any theories about Violet’s observation that Brennan and Dain didn’t have a mark after Sloane used her signet so he could heal Mira? (“There’s no mark at the back of his neck like he carries on his palm. There hadn’t been one on Dain’s wrist”) I agree about Bodhi - I think the whole point of marrying Violet was so she would be able to lead without Xaden. Xaden making the comment that his new brother had seen how he had been struggling this whole time really limits who it could be. I’m worried about involving the gods as well. I’m a little nervous it’ll go off the rails like CC3. I'm assuming her Grandmother will play a part in some of the answers. I felt Xaden being venin lessened the interaction with his mother. I would’ve liked to see how the scene played out if he wasn’t fighting the venin influence.

You hit the nail on the head! 💯 agree with you. I rated the first two books five-star and this one a four-star. I loved it, but I didn't love it, if that makes any sense, lol. I think the main reason was I felt, as you mentioned, it was way too much romance vs. fantasy with a side of romance and then that ending! Ugh, that ending! 😫 anywho, I loved your review and your channel. It's my favorite to watch!! ❤

I unfortunately ended up DNFing Bat Eater so ended up selling my Evernight copy but the Illumicrate copy of Water Moon is gorgeous

I want to add to that that Eve said they entered the basement once before with the real estate agent. My theory is the real estate agent is related to the house too. So by getting out of the basement, they were now in a new reality in which they bought the house, sold the antler chandelier, and later she met the family. In real life they just went to see a house and never returned (or maybe just Eve went there). That explains why for final chapter Charlie the house was boarded as never lived in and nobody had records of the house being purchased.

I think you've answered this before, but I don't remember for sure, but are you planning on getting any of the new OC subs? Glad you liked all of the books you received! I totally agree with the first one, the main cover. The reverse artwork is much better. The mini vases-I'd get some fake mini flowers and put them on my bookcase. I also appreciated that all the items in Illumicrate were at least somewhat useful so even if you didn't know/like the fandom, you could still use them rather than just store them somewhere.

I definitely felt burned this month because I skipped the owlcrate box since I knew it was the same book as illumicrate. And I didn't buy the waterstone's exclusive edition, and I liked both of those better than the illumicrate that I got.😢

I have arachnofobia, so wouldn't touch Illumi's Invocations even with a stick 😂

I love this edition of Bat Eater! and the book has been amazing so far. I really like the tiny vases - I stuck just one old flower from a dried up bouquet and they are so cute 😅

I am definitely thinking of binning off the Romantasy box as I am sick and tired of every title being on KU for free that they choose. It drives me insane. The book in February as well is the first book in a new series but ideally you need to read the previous book serious first as the characters backstory is found there and it will be easier to understand. The new series is set in the previous world also…great. Plus it is on KU too

OC is lovely, but I don't think it fits the theme/atmosphere of the book. It just feels too dark or horror-ish. IC managed to do something that gave those "studio Ghibli" vibes, which is what the book intends to my understanding, so they definitely win.

OwlCrate's adult book is beautiful! The Illumicrate cover seems more apt for a middle grade or young adult book..so it doesn't appeal as much to me. Love you unboxing!❤

Finally, Evernight does a book I actually want! I'm currently reading Bat Eater, so if I love it, I'll have to find someone reselling a copy of this stunning edition. (BTW, pretty sure the US release was delayed because they completely redesigned the cover to better market to an adult audience and set it apart from her YA series.)

Beautiful books! 100% agree about the Starlight Heir needing reversed. I unfortunately don't have Fairyloot but definitely looking into Starlight Heir to buy! I'm anxiously awaiting Bat Eater from B&N. Water Moon Owlcrate I just got and I think it's pretty though I would have wanted something slightly more magical looking. Cannot wait for the YA boxes!

In February I'm the most excited for Polish translations of "Wind and Truth", "Bonesmith" and "Sleep Like Death". We also just got an announcement for translation of "When the Moon Hatched" (but that's for March). I will still attempt to read it in English first, but Polish may be easier. Also I think grandma may enjoy it. She likes romantasy. --- "Illusions of Fire" sounds interesting. "Carmilla" is quite boring. I mean it had an interesting idea, but I feel asleep during the audiobook xd. Also the "romance" was weird. It wasn't really a romance in my opinion; just a vampire lady trying to use a young, unexperienced lesbian that genuinely cared about her wellbeing. "Unlock the dark" - yes, i'm excited for that one. It comes out in February? huh? I've seen someone guess it may be Locked Library's book for May. "Greenteeth" could be interesting too. I have a lot of water related books on my TBR for this year so I will add this one too. "Our infinite fates" sounds really good too. Is any book box doing it? --- Also! Have you seen the cover reveal for the "God and the Gwisin" from Sophie Kim? It's so pretty. Waiting for the second version of the cover but it will be a hard to decide which one to buy (I didn't like the first book's cover by Sija Hong, so I bought the one by Kuri Huang [the same as Fairyloot's version], but I don't know if this time Kuri's version will be better. We'll see. Can't wait for the reveal). [Also I may be trying to get FL version if they do the second book]

I really loved this book. It was a 4 🌟 for me. Lots of action and unique worlds. It was a little long. I would have preferred 9 echos max. I also didn't like the nursing stuff. It just seemed unnecessary.

Late to the party, just had my digital copy through from the library and DEVOURED IT. I think religion plays a bigger part in it somewhere because Eve is ex-church, Paige has found religion and there's the focus on her cross necklace (which later becomes Charlie's locket), Thomas is ex-church, there was the whole chat about their "lifestyle choices" upsetting Eve's religious parents, and the bible verse in the motel (plus the homophobic woman on the front desk) I've seen on Goodreads that Heather is perhaps Alison's/Thomas' mother, because her husband has a music connection like the OG dad had a band tee on (Elijah?). And the author has said the dual coloured eyes of Shylo and Charlie has a bigger connection to the story.... SOMEHOW. I need another book like yesterday. Your video is much-needed to fill in some of the gaps and highlight details I missed. Ordering a print copy so I can re-read and annotate! does the map in the front of the book help provide clarity at all? I tried to make sense of it when I started reading but couldn't wrap my tiny brain around it 😂

This book infuriated me. So many dumb decisions by the main character that took away from the plausibility and made me want to quit multiple times, but i try to finish books i start. I hate books and movies where main character makes repeated bad decisions that defy the logic of most people, just to move the narrative along. To me, it's infuriating. Much better if the main character acts logically and despite that, bad things happen. But from the very beginning, she already acts like an idiot by inviting the family in. From that point on, it repeats over and over. Also, this book reminded me very much of the show Dark matter, which is precisely about parallel universes.

The writing was beautiful. Very descriptive to the point that the reader gets pulled into the story. If you had a religious upbringing, the paranormal aspect is very believable and realistic. 4/5

I was just checking what the book was for this month and I thought it was Only A Monster which only shows how little I pay attention. Especially when I wrote down The Laast Hour Between Worlds in my reading journal... (incert huge sigh) I need to do something about my ADHD... Then I thought I already had the book and just needed to read/listen to it but no, I don't have it. Really annoyed with myself. I think I will read it, but at a later time. I have a few books I need to get through and I don't want to panic read this one. I'm hoping your review will slip my mind once I finally get to it.

I really enjoyed reading this one, I ended up 5* it as I couldn't put it down and read it over two days at New Years so maybe the timing helped too. The author was definitely setting up closer to the end for the second book that's coming out this November

Dear Kimberly, I am so bummed ☹️ by this one. I was so excited to read this book and also have the beautiful Illumicrate edition and I ended up not enjoying it that much … I think that world building is so interesting and really cool, I wish we could explore more of the echoes. I absolutely agree that this should have been a novella, only to introduce the world and to set the grounds for a thrilling series, that is what I would like this to be. I was also very annoyed with the pacing, it was just very slow at times and was going in circles. We have the same feelings about this book, I share all of your opinions completely. The whole pregnancy and new born theme I find really annoying, same as you I don’t enjoy motherhood themed books. The relationship between the two main characters is also something I didn’t really like because it doesn’t make sense that they would act the way they did at the beginning being what they are to each other. This should not have been enemies to lovers kind of thing at all. Although I kind of lost the interest by the end of it, I would still like to continue with the series or at least try because I am hoping this could get a lot more interesting if done properly. I am giving it 3 ⭐️.
