YES! That's actually one of my goals! I just wasn't impressed with the 2024 Mystery selection so I'm going to try to get back into the genre a lot more. I miss it so much 😭
I haven't made a list of the worst books I read this year. I just don't want to go back and try to remember what I hated about them because I'm lazy and can't be bothered. The only one that stands out to me the most and I can remember the name of it is the ARC I DNF called Seeker (The Sentinel Archives #1) by Samuel Griffin. I tried to get through it but after reading just over 50% and still not knowing what the plot was supposed to be, I threw in the towel. It was very slow, the writing leaned heavy towards literary fiction rather than fantasy. It was too fancy for me and I was not enjoying myself at all. For my 2024 wrap up I did slides for the book I liked most each month that I will post once the month is over and include the totals for the year at the end. I can say that I enjoyed way more than I hated at least. I try to read only the books that catch my eye. There are many out there that people rave about but when I look at the synopsis I'm just not interested. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of a new prequel dystopian series I came across online. I read the first book The Order: Kingdom of Fallen Ash by Katerina St. Clair and loved it. The 4th book just released so I will binge the next 3 in January and the author is working on the main series this year.
I absolutely would not bother going back and looking. I spent almost no time on this list because I just didn't want the bad vibes 🤣 I definitely remember you mentioning Seeker before and it seems to have absolutely traumatized you with how awful it was. I love that you aren't swayed too much by what other people read. I really need to learn that skill, but alas, I don't have it.
I'm currently reading olivie blake's januaries, and I think it's the best book she's written. I think the short story format really works for her writing. I'm surprised tempest of tea didn't make your list that's probably my worst book of the year. I recall you didn't care for either.
Oooo okay. I am still willing to try Olivie Blake books so I may give that a try. So Tempest of Tea WOULD have been on this list, but I DNFed it pretty early on so it didn't feel fair. If I included DNFs, Horror Movie would def be on the list too. I only included the two DNFs that I read a lot of and literally were a miserable experience.
Oh man, Violet Made of Thorns. What even was that ending? I didn't actually mind the first 50%, because having an enemy-to-lovers where they are actual enemies appeals to me......but I genuinely couldn't even explain to anyone what happened at the end. It was irritating because it *could* have been good with that setup, but it ultimately was just dumb.
Violet Made of Thorns will live in infamy as having one of the worst endings of a book so I'm glad there are others that definitely agree with me. it was just actually so bizarre.
Ava Reid is on my automatic skip list lol. I've hated three books by her so I'm SO HAPPY that I didn't read Lady MacBeth. The cover almost got me though since it's so stunning.
Hearing how much you love your new house made me so happy after all you went through to finally get there! 😊 happy new year Kimberly!
Omg yes. I’m always shocked by the love for the mindfuck series. It was so bad 😭
Kimberly More mystery in 2025! Happy New Year!

Hi!! Found your channel from Lexie's latest video! House of Last Resort was on my worst books of the year list too so subbed!! Lol
Thanks for letting me know and welcome! I went and checked out her video. It's an awesome format.
Really awesome vid!👍
I feel you were really reasonable with your thoughts 😊
Thank you! ☺
The Long Walk by Stephen King went from a 4 or 5 star to a 1 or 2 star because the ending made me so mad. I understand you.

My worst book of 2024 was Lady MacBeth by Ava Reid, I ended up DNFing it and I still hate it with a passion
