The Goodreads choice awards really had me raising my eyebrows this year. The fact that Zodiac Academy even made it to the list is wild. I'm also so glad I'm not the only one who thought A fate Inked in Blood being that high was a crime lmao I hated it so much but everyone seems to love it. I feel like most of the books are only there because of sheer popularity and sales. Not because they where actually good.
Exactly! I feel like a lot of the choices were just the sheer number of people reading it compared to a lot of other better books. A Fate Inked in Blood absolutely baffled me
Many of the noimiated books I have not read but had them in my TBR. I was surprised of some winners, not surprised of one specifically (SJM). I liked the Cresent City books, but I would not have picked it as my #1 for this year at all. Too many other books I read in that catagory would be higher on my list than that book/series. I read God of the Woods, it was a Jimmy Fallon book club pick. I did like it but not as much as The Boyfriend that I read in Oct (I think). It's funny to me that All the Colors of the Dark was in the running because I DNF that. I just was getting really irritated and wanted it to move along. Is it considered a literary book? If so, I hate that. I didn't vote in some catagories because I didn't read any of the books chosen so I had no way to know if they were actually good or not. I'm also annoyed that they do not do this poll in Jan after all the books were released but also, books that have been out for 11 months vs one will have been read and rated more. It just doesn't seem fair. It's funny that the most books I read in the lists was horror vs Fantasy. I don't agree with any of the winners in the catagories I typically read.
SJM def won just because so many people read that book and people will rate any SJM 5 stars no matter what. I definitely voted for it at first until my conscience broke me 🤣 The winners baffled me too. I didn't pick a single winner from any of the categories. Next year I might try and guess what will be in the goodreads awards to see if I can read more throughout the year.

I also dnf'd The Wedding People.
Me too!
I need to go back and watch your fate inked in blood video. I get why people don’t like it was a 5 star to me but I really like the Norse mythology.
I would NOT recommend watching that video then 🤣🤣

I would never put on make up just for a video, people get what they get haha, if they stick arround then they are cool!
I DNF’d Crimson Moth. The magic system was gross and made no sense.
