Mostly about the family metal recycling businees, sixth generation and on the same site since 1876. Recycling machinery and trucks in action in our well organised yard. we carry massive stocks of foundry grade cast iron but our bread and butter is steel and non ferrous. We have just installed a Copex S-Wing 1000 tonne shear, a heavy duty version of the usual S-Wing, weighing almost 200 tonnes and this will fetaure a lot in future videos. I'm also a wildlife photographer so I might upset the machinery addicts with occasional wildlife videos.
Destroy and Recycle-The joys of January
Another compilation from the previous month. We had heavy snow so the yard had to be ploughed a few times, I shot a bit of footage from inside the Case loading shovel with the plough attached to the quick hitch. There’s a 360 degree view, or perhaps more than one, from my Sennebogen 835E cab, it gives you an idea of the geography around our yard.
Next I unload some long heavy girders, some were much too long for the 8 metre box on the shear so they were burnt in half and then sheared.
A customer dropped a safe off that I had to bomb with the four tonne ball. It was a well made safe, around £2k to buy new, weighing 1.25 tonnes, there was a fair bit of concrete lining it and it took a few sma...

Destroy and Recycle-Christmas Edition

A bit of everything here, loading, crushing and shearing containers. We rescued a stuck artic carrying a container to be scrapped, he had followed his satnav, never a good idea when you’re trying to find us in a wagon, we went down with the Case shovel and towed him out, the hill in front is 25% so pretty steep and very narrow at one point. At the end I give the Copex a Christmas Eve wash as we...

Winter’s arrived so I’m having to plough the yard first job with the new Case loading shovel so that we can get customers and articulated bulk tippers in and out of the yard. We’re situated on a hillside so we have problems in winter, we’re on a steep hillside with some steep approach roads, as well as steep slopes in the yard itself. There’s footage from my point of view as I load and unload w...

Lots to action from my Sennebogen 835E cab, feeding the Copex shear, loading bulk tippers for the docks at Liverpool with baled one and two, OA heavy and Baled car shells. The Copex folds and shears some pretty big hoppers, I wasn’t sure it would do them but it did.

This is quite a mixed bag of clips from my working days in the yard. I’ve not bothered posting to social media for a couple of months so this is my first post here for a while. These are mostly shortish clips made for Instagram, as usual, so not necessarily particularly joined up. We have our DAF tipping loads, the Copex 1000 tonne shear baler shearing heavy steel, which it does very well. Ther...

This video is another mix of everyday things in the yard-Scraplife as it’s known on Instagram. We start with a long sequence shearing a load of constructional steel, girders etc, it’s the Copex being fed by me with the Sennebogen 835E, the 825E and magnet gets involved clearing up. Then we have a clip at sunrise, 5.30am as I unlock, the first bulk tipper is parked in the road already, waiting t...
Destroy and Recycle….it’s been a while

A long time since my last post, I’ve had some time out from all social media, absolutely appalling weather doesn’t make it easy to shoot video, and when we have the occasional nice day there are lots of other things to do. These clips are spread over a long period of time, there’s a lot of the Copex folding and shearing large tank sections from three separate dismantling jobs, two local, one we...
Destroy and Recycle-concentrating on the destruction…it’s more fun

Plenty of Copex shearing and baling action, we had some heavily enamelled feed hoppers from a farm demolition, they were in fairly big pieces and I wasn’t sure the shear could fold them small enough, fortunately, it did, the dust is the enamel shattering and popping off the steel, even after it was sheared. There’s more heavy shearing, the final clip was much longer but I felt that too much wou...

A lot of stuff from my position in my Sennebogen 835. I destroyed some large saws with the big ball, general duties around the yard, loading wagons and bins, I also bomb some four tonne steel fan units to reduce then to shearing size. Obviously there’s some action from the Copex S-Wing 1000 tonne shear as usual. Someone observed that the videos would be better filmed from outside of the cab, av...

The view from that Case 521 and the Sennebogen 835 as I’m driving them. In the forst clip with the Case I'm testing the built in weigher by filling the bucket with tarmac road planings and raising the bucket, the beeping noise is the weigher confirming that it has successfuly weighed, it's very accurate. There’s the Copex shearing, loading wagons for delivery to the docks at Liverpool. The old ...
Destroy and Recycle-A life of grime

Well, I’ve bought a clamp that lets me film from my driving position in one of the Sennebogens or the Case loading shovel so some of these clips are a bit experimental. You’ll see me doing a tour of the yard in the Case, early morning and, needless to say, in the rain, then something similar in the Sennebogen 835. I then set it up to film me balding a load in the Copex with our John operating t...

Another week another video. I was shearing constructional steel, girders, a few times, then we had another load of the Kirklees Council bins, despite being £40m short on their budget, all blue steel bins are being replaced with plastic bins. There are a few short clips of our wagons tipping, I also strip a couple of machine tools with the Sennebogen grab, using the four tonne ball to knock stee...

This is a long one for the lovers not the haters 😂 A week of crushing, drop balling and shearing with the Copex. I haven’t shortened the seperate clips as much as usual, hence the length, there’s a 44 tonner tipping a load of machines, the tipper almost at the top with 24 tonnes jammed before it comes crashing out, my own wagons tipping, more shearing aluminium, crushing and shearing hookloader...

This is a collection of videos, made for Instagram really, from just before Christmas. The weather as been appalling for over six months and I’m not inclined to stand about making videos, I have a job to do, I start work at 5.30am six days a week and trying to keep reasonably warm and dry is a priority as the days are long when you’re cold and wet. There’s a couple of safe destruction clips, wa...

A wonderful machine.
how many trucks have got stuck up that lane lol
Nice one Mark. always a nice clean yard to go load out of. Ye defo need to get 660 v8 scania hook loader for your next one.
Another great video from the cleanest best organized yard i have ever seen! Thanks for sharing, always looking forward to your next video!!
2:13 I really like the railway viaducts in the background. Those are always scenic.
The tidiest scrapyard i've ever seen 😇
*That shear is an absolute beast.*
Hello Mark,,, nice to watch a bit of precision demolition with a glass of wine. That was a safe, I think, but it isn't any longer after those gentle touches with the ball. You run a nice and clean yard I must say.
Excellent video loved it ❤
Enjoyed your video, thanks very much.
you have a shredder as well? when that tractor was dumping looked like a mountain of shred!
No, it’s broken heavy foundry cast iron
dang that dump body looked in decent shape around me that would fetch far more than scrap value even with a rusty floor
Sweden again,,,, good thing you take care of the Copex, you gave her some oil I guess and a good clean up. Now we know where the dirt went but the idea is to get it on the ground. Always nice videos.
Neat and tidy, chop-chop-chop!
How heavy is the crushing ball
3.8 tonnes, I have three of them as well as a few that are around the one tonne mark
I would like to see where those trucks go after they leave your yard full of scrap metal, any chance of that happening.
Top of the line operation. Great footage of processing procedures not seen anywhere else in the RUclips channels. I'm viewing from TAMPA BAY FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸
Apologies for not getting back to sooner, I don't really monitor RUclips and I have all social media alerts disabled. You're right that we do operate a little bit differently here, although, my methods wouldn't work for everyone.
Not sure about that but we seem to spend a lot of time seeping and wearing brushes out 😂
Sorry, reply meant for someone else
Nice work 🎉🎉
❤ great looking 🎉🎉
New subscriber here. Enjoyed your video of what interesting things go on in a scrapyard. That large cannon-ball-type thing being used as a crusher is fantastic. Thank you.
thanks, glad you like it
Thank you for this Christmas present.
What a stunning yard !!!
Perfect Perfect Thank you for a very good video
Mark! Thanks for the great video!
My Dad owned 2 977's in the late 70's , doing complete building demolition in The Bronx , NYC ; He had 35 ft heavy custom made poles with a ripper type on the end , they would fit right into the custom-made holder for the poll which was mounted on top of the bucket ; they're literally was no building that was a match for those two monsters.... My dad operating one and his brother , my uncle operating the other... From the mid-70s to the mid-80s there were hundreds of fire damaged buildings that were owned by the city that had to come down , we got most of the work and there was nothing that those 2 977's could not do....
Good to see Ken getting his wieght on Great video mark
Sir, your yard is absolutely clean and well organized! When I was a young guy I worked on a friend´s scrapyard back in 1980, also operating a grapple, but they were much more difficult to operate compared to today´s modern machines. And environmental regulations were almost non existant 40 years ago and the yards were pretty messy. To save time and money, we just drained oil and fuel from scrap-vehicles, just by punching holes in gas tanks and oil pans with a pick-axe. Sometimes we even left the batteries inside and just scrapped the whole thing, either by ripping bigger vehicles apart or dropping a 2-ton steel plate on cars. At that time, nobody cared about environmental issues. Unimaginable today! Well, as a young guy I had fun destroying things without being punished for 😂
It’s how it was everywhere, we operated within the law as the law was written at the time.
You have a better view from your high rise cab than i do working at sims metals in Stratford on avon.great video ❤
Another good video mate what a nice tidy scrap yard you have mate keep up the good vlogs love watching u all keep safe
Why do you store so many brakedisks? Why not sell them for scrap?
Waiting for the right price as with all scrap dealers/sellers. I recall them having many more last year so they did move a lot out.
Piles of cast iron are worth more than money in the bank.
👍👍🙂🇨🇦
😊
Why was some compact baled & some loose? First truck
Different treatment for different grades, also, small scarp doesn't bale well and it's acceptable to just load it loose, it's the same price. Heavy steel is just sheared and loaded loose.
10:53 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
4:55 ist fast nicht zu glauben, welche Kraft hinter der 1000 Tonnenschere steckt. wooow
Wow what a perfect video Thank you very much keep on filming please
Mark! Great to see you. You keep a tidy yard and your loading is perfect as well. /waves from Paula
Je trouve tes video super en plusse ellle sont de bonne calitte
How did you process that type of scrap before the shear was brought into your buisness?
When you buy and maintain quality equipment as you do, it does the job as you expect. Great video as always, but someone put the truck's steering wheels on the wrong side. A very neat and well organized yard to be proud of! Jim ,from Pennsylvania in the USA
@24:20 why was it beeping at you?
@@luke_mma_love it’s the boom cylinder pressure warning, a sort of overload device that beeps with every bounce of the boom, until I remember to turn it off
@@markschofield9494 Thanks for the reply Mark. I deeply enjoy watching you work in your yard, and how clean you keep everything. Thanks for recording it for us all.
Did your muffler fall.off yet?🫣
@@Shopweasel What ? This is a video of a random 977 taken on holiday on Tenerife in 2015, I have no idea if it’s fallen off.
@markschofield9494 munching on that volcanic dust I'd say the operator fell off by now.😏
I have a question: do you have payload scales in both of your Sennebogen (like Ascorel or Loadrite) for loading the lorries? Thank you for your videos, greetings from a loader operator in a rock quarry in the north east of France.
no weigher but the wagons have weighers, I'm pretty accurate with my guesses though, sometimes more accurate than the truck weigher. We have a weigher on the Case loading shovel.
@@markschofield9494 Yes, nothing can beat experience .
As always, Excellent video!! Love your process of working, always a pleasure to view a piece of your day, Thanks for sharing!!
thank you
I love this channel.
