- This video is another mix of everyday things in the yard-Scraplife as it’s known on Instagram. We start with a long sequence shearing a load of constructional steel, girders etc, it’s the Copex being fed by me with the Sennebogen 835E, the 825E and magnet gets involved clearing up.
Then we have a clip at sunrise, 5.30am as I unlock, the first bulk tipper is parked in the road already, waiting to load at 7.00am, he’s a regular and always here very early.
Next up is the Sennebogen 825 loading some small OA onto a DAF XF for Liverpool. Then something a bit different, two clips of me running up the heavy cast iron pile as fast as I can, I do it most years on my birthday, it started as a bit of a laugh, I climbed every pile in the yard and called it Scrapyard Challenge, I was 65 earlier this month so, knee problems notwithstanding, I did it again, I always end up doing it a few times to get the clip that I’m happy with and this time was no exception. The irony is, I actually had an appointment at the knee clinic on the day of my birthday for the results of MRI scans and X-rays.
As I was on the way back from the clinic a new toy was being delivered, I got back just in time. I’ve bought a Genie hydraulic lift, it takes you up 50 foot with a fantastic view, we all went up, including my daughters out of the office, in a later clip our John takes young Bonnie up, she had an harness on but she wasn’t scared.
John tips a muck spreader, that flips right over as it slides out, I didn’t have time to film the crushing part but it took some doing, I put in the Copex whole, hoping that bits would break off and lessen the whole thing into smaller, shearable pieces, unfortunately the high tensile steel was well welded and it stayed in one piece making it really hard to compress and shear.
John tipped a load of SG skull, large pieces jammed in the body having been dropped in by a forklift, the customer destroys the bins we have built specifically for the job. There’s a limit as to how heavy we can build them as we also deliver cast with them and need a reasonable payload, maybe Hardox next time.
At the end John is in my 835 loading OA for Liverpool, that was today, 15th August so that’s it for now.
Scrap yard Olympics! 🤣😂 Great video Mark, looks like the weather is cooperating. Cheers!
