In true white out, stay off the mountain. I got caught and literally couldn’t tell in fog//freshies that I was still moving. I figured it out when I bumped into a rut on trail side. Luckily I found trees nearby to get down. I actually got motion sickness from being completely disoriented. Makes you understand how people die in those conditions (someone actually did that day. Went the wrong way and died in a tree well). I do not mess with that type of conditions any more.
Great video and great snow! Coming to Tignes next weekend and looking forward to it, first time visiting Tignes and first time skiing since Covid!! :)
Yep definitely keep your turns tighter . I count to myself and turn usually on 4 this keeps me on an even track. Another point concerning more foggy conditions , on the right hand piste poles there should be rings so you know you are on the piste. Saved me many times but surprisingly not a lot of people know this. Don’t know if this system is used everywhere🤔
The first trip of last season the afternoon we arrived in Bormio where I've never skied before was complete while out when we got to the top. Good tips! I find untinted yellow lenses best for my eyes in whiteout but I'm not sure anything would have worked there. We just had to use the force going from liste marker to piste marker. Not sure the red eye flight helped 😂
I love Sainte Foy and was there at the start of the season and it was so quiet! Lama lama is my favourite place to eat!!!
Love it, only comment on the marquis is how good the full restaurant is but don’t tell everyone!
Sf wasn’t all closed last week on Monday!
Great video and tips, thanks Floss
Thanks so much for your message 😁and watching
A first time skier here. I just put on my cheap sunglasses I got in decathlon. Already 7 days into the skiing trip. The conditions here are somewhat warm however. Lows negatives -1~-5. In Bansko
Enjoy your hols
What? This is every beginner on their first day
Look for anything that creates contrast: trees, rocks, piste markers, rope lines. Goggles don't create contrast, but they can enhance it. If you're in steep alpine terrain & the weather whites out, ask any other skier nearby for help; they may know the terrain & may guide you, or, at the very least, send you in the safest & easiest direction. 🏂⛷️
Is that a camera clip on your backpack shoulder strap? Wondering what you are using to film?
I film on an old go pro and it is a shoulder mount 😁
Merci pour tous ces conseils. Je pars à Tignes samedi comme chaque année et vu la météo annoncée, je pense que je vais pouvoir les mettre en application !
Merci pour votre message. Bonnes vacances 😁
Love Sainte Foy - great Video. I think we’ll be going at Easter in the hope snow conditions let us get to Le Moral this year
thanks for your message ... fingers crossed for good snow for you in April
Literally skied off the trail in flat light conditions one time. Took 15 minutes to dig myself out and I was very fortunate!
Lucky ...we have all done that one time or another
Yeah, happened to me in Big White years ago.😢
Keep 'em coming Cockle 🤟
Working on it 😁
On the plus side...great snow underfoot, ooh, that lovely crunchy sound I adore!
Totally... It is so nice to have fresh snow under foot ...😁

Happy New Year and congrats on 5K! 🎉
Happy New Year...How are you getting on?
skiing indoors I’m feeling good, maybe best ever now… but my body is not happy so very much still working on it. Hoping to make it to the mountains soon though even I’m not doing all that much skiing 🤞
@@__Steph keep up with the rehab 😁
Hi think you for the demo. I bought one and I did not find the way to install my water pack. Someone find a way ?
I haven`t yet ..
Level 4 is red for a reason and really gotta read and understand the bulletin for 3. The numbers relate to ease of trigger and size of avalanche so it's not a linear scale. Looks kinda wind loaded! Some of those pistes between tignes and VD get closed due to connecting terrain so closed really does mean closed. Great to see one of your students back after an ACL injury, just over 2 weeks till I see how I've got on. Happy New Year 🥳
Thanks for message Matt..HAPPY NY 😁
Ethan needs some lessons!
Ha! If there's no pressure on your skis you are probably pointing downhill. Val D' is useless in a white-out... following a line o' Brits following a line of marker-poles. Smith Storm Blue or Yellow lens with at least 60% VLT Visible-Light-Transmission: Most Dark lenses are 25%. Get a Thumb Squeegie and punch yerself in the face trying to wipe goggles. Do an Inspection Runs and then Rip a Trusty Groomer at GS speeds...With 10cms fresh and rime sticking and blacking out yer goggles...! At least the lift lines are shorter... ps: 'Harold Harb' ... Everybody is out there planting poles and Going Up. Flexed Transitions Rules !!
Great advice and tips or you could do what I do in tignes on a white out day. Jack it in and head to moose bar 😅
Sometimes that is the best thing to do..Surrender
Who is your new assistant in the orange ski pants? What a guy! 😂
What guy ...Happy New Year ...
If you haven't got a strong but flexible stance, you will have by the time you get to the bottom.🫣 Whiteout skiing is a great experience to show up any problems in your basic technique in my experience.👍
Totally
Excellent tips. 👌🏼👌🏼 Happy New Year 🎉
Happy new year!! How are things? Thanks for your message 😃
@ Things are good thank you. Looking forward to Kitzbuhel trip in February followed by Tignes VC in April. Keep up the great films. 👌🏼💪🏼
@@dougiedoesstuff Enjoy Kitzbuhel 😁
Good tips, especially: keep turning, follow someone so you can visually orientate yourself, stand tall, stay relaxed (soft knees, relaxed waist)
Thanks for watching and your message!

Hi Floss, I hope the snow is still looking good! Heading out on the 11th :)
We have some snow coming in Thursday night which is needed and more forecasted next week. Which is great!
im a good skier, but with white wind is like learn again
We are all a bit like that..
Thanks for all the content I really look forward to it! Have the best new years! I’m currently in grindelwald skiing for new years. But I have a few days after and am looking to come to val disere for 2-3 days. I wondered if you knew a town or village to stay that is well connected but not expensive ? We are driving so can use the car. Many thanks.
Happy New Year ...Thanks for your message. Enjoy Grinelwald. Val is in 3 parts, which are connected La Daille, Centre of Val and Fornet. La Daille is the cheaper one. But it is Val and its very expensive. Other option is to stay lower down the mountain and drive up villages for example La Thuile, St Foy village .. keep me posted and have fun
Nice video Floss! in one week I hope to be there with similar snow conditions. Happy New 2025!!
Thanks for your message ..fingers crossed. There is new snow on the way towards the end of the week.
uh..too-cold for skiing probably means it is not global warming..so
wouldn`t that be great
Great video Floss. Keep them coming!
I am trying yo keep them coming. Our flat light video will be coming out this Thursday 😁
First turns were Villaroger. Just follow the signs to Villaroger I told my wife Hana and we will stay on blues, but she missed the turn and skied the (rarely open) path down to Pre St Esprit. Do instead of a few easy opening runs in Villaroger we had a bit of a trip through Arcs 2000 to pick up the Villaroger lift system again via the Lanchettes chair and the Aiguille Rouge red. But she skied it like a champ. And in the evening we met you whilst seeing the donkeys in Le Planay! The next day (Christmas Day) we skied Peisy and Vallandry and we have been skiing around in this gorgeous sunshine ever since. Great to see good snow in Villaroger again and the dog has even been enjoying the powder on our apres ski hike up to La Ferme for THE BEST vin chaud in the Tarentaise. Shame we have to head back to the UK next Thursday but we'll be back soon. Keep up the great videos 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hey floss, I was in tignes from 21-28th (yesterday) and I saw u 2 times. I wish i said hi… I was so nervous seeing u😭
Oh you shold of said Hi ... Thanks for messaging to say hi.. Next time! when are you back in Tignes?
@ I come every year on the week of Christmas. But I may be coming back in February…
Looks amazing Flo. Great start to the year 🎉
Thanks Bro ..love ya
Hi Floss, Is it possible to get a ski pass that allows you to ski VDI/Tignes plus St Foy; and then Les Arc/La Plagne; and if so, how easy to get between using public transport? Thanks
If you buy this card - www.skialacarte.fr/fr/ then you top up online and you get the 9th pass free and then cheaper rates after that. St Foy isn`t included in the pass. Sadly its not too easy by public transport. I hope this helps you? Let me know your thoughts
Hi floss, love your ski reports, please tell me where you are at 4.04 on this video as I am a very keen but very much beginner at off piste and would love to do something relatively easy like this when I go to tignes in March
4.04 I was off piste at the back of the grand huit chairlift. You have to choose the right time as its South face so if you have a thaw then it can be really crusty. I hope this helps ...message me nearer the time and I can tell you if i am around ..
Fantastic! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year .... 😁
Awesome! Keep us updated the weeks to come!
Will do Kevin ..Thanks for your message 😁
Awesome! Happy New Year!

Thank you for the update!
thanks for your message mike..have you skied this winter yet?
Me who remembers doing this at age 8
Top reason I love snowboarding in st Foy is definitely the plethora of off-piste options
I totally agree
Great weather report I want to do another season (2 prior) Need any help?
Thanks for your message.. Would love to take on a team..I need to get bigger first 😂
@@FreeFloFlossbookmark it for next season 😊. I’m Still trying for this season if you got any contact that need someone 😁
@alphabet6814 Do you have a european passport ?
Great to meet you a few days ago. Just a top tip from me - there is also free parking in Villaroger and in Peisy from which you can access the immense Ski Paradis (Les Arcs and La Plagne) area. Fabulous snow conditions today in Peisy and Vallandry and even Les Arcs 1800 wasn't that busy - get to the Peisy chair at 9.15am and have the mountain to yourself for oooo 30 minutes or so! Good luck to all skiing next week - gonna be busy.. Be careful out there. AJ
Thanks Andrew great to meet you too and thanks for the message 😁
Well there goes the uncrowded pistes
nahhh ..lots of people won`t visit as there are only 4 lifts it will be still quiet out of peak weeks
Floss, when are you running courses in St Foy
Hi Nigel, from 10th March for two weeks for ski touring. One Steps Beyond is the first week then I have Two Steps Beyond on second week
