Meng Qi Wing Pinger + Eventide H90 // Shadows and Lights
The Wing Pinger is not easy to process: it sports two outputs which are... double mono?
Not really, and I will show you why soon in the upcoming tutorial (long in the making, I know).
But that's also why I decided to keep one pedal, and that pedal is the H90, which allows for extensive customization of the inputs, and it's modular in its own way.
I created this new preset for the Eventide H90, called Noise Glue, which is a combination of a 4-head delay + tape saturation to keep everything cohesive, and I think it complements beautifully the sound echoing war chants and drums on the battlefield, juxtaposed to the few plucks of melodic rain here and there.

Random Source Serge INORI + Chase Bliss Mood Mk2 // Pings & Drones
Просмотров 7262 месяца назад
Just a little xmas noodling with the INORI panel and the infamous Mood Mk2 by Chase Bliss. I wanted to try the pedal with the best-sounding synth I own, and the result was good enough to post, so here we are! A bit of sparkly pinging, and some good ol' drones (mostly because I don't have another panel, but also because the INORI is so good at producing them) Enjoy! Do you want to buy the synth ...
Buchla by TipTop // Buchla Serenade by the Lake
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.4 месяца назад
When I got invited to the amazing Buchla event held by @ModularWorld, I knew I had to do something special. So I went out and bought a power bank capable of powering my modular system, and I sat by my favourite lake, duetting with the birds around, the Buchla system and my OP1 Field. The system is fairly simple in its parts, but I am very proud of the deeper complexity I was able to reach in th...
SERGE Modular INORI & TKB // First study on the use as a synthetic clarinet
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.4 месяца назад
Little snippet of my first exploration of the Pressure output from the Touch Activated Keyboard Sequencer (or TKB) and the INORI sound module, both from Random Source. I am using the filter as a VCA, running one oscillator through the legendary Wave Multiplier (the middle one), while using the top one as a VCA for the vibrato amount, given by the second oscillator used as an LFO. Very simple pa...
Meng Qi Wingie 2 & Synthstrom Deluge // The process IS the performance!
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.4 месяца назад
The Wingie 2 by @MengQiMusic changed my musical approach (for good). It made me embrace the environmental noise, it made me start thinking a bit outside of the "synthesizers are for synthwave" box, and its portability, its cuteness, made me more willing to open up and breathe a bit more. It's hard to explain, but after getting a Wingie I started to reconsider microphones, I got an Arbhar, I got...
Meng Qi Wing Pinger & Chase Bliss Mood mk2 // Meditation through pings, an intimate process
Просмотров 4,8 тыс.6 месяцев назад
Playing with the Wing Pinger by @MengQiMusic is a meditative practice. 🪷 While it looks simple (and beautiful) on the outside, the balance required to achieve something to be proud of is considerable. That’s the reason why, even though I play frequently with this instrument, I rarely record with it, because it feels like being naked and vulnerable. The right output (the lower note) is going bac...
Neutral Labs Elmyra 2 - Drone Synthesizer // Demo, Tutorial and Opinions

SUBTITLES AVAILABLE (in many languages!) I've had the lucky chance to be able to check out the Elmyra 2, by Neutral Labs. It has a very interesting approach to performance and sound building: it looks easy, but it can get way deeper than you think. After playing with it for a long while, I decided to offer you a tour of its functions, plus my (unrequested) opinions, all in this desktop configur...
Korg Monologue & Chase Bliss Mood Mk2 // End of the year!
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.9 месяцев назад
I got a bit emotional, with my internal (and external) Monologue, both the instrument and the thoughts. Plus, since 2023 has been very frustrating in all of its parts, even this video has been compromised by everything that could go wrong: dead batteries, bugs in the Mood (first time ever), the camera shut itself off in some other recordings, and so on. Two years ago I was playing with a $2000 ...
Instruo Arbhar & Lubadh // Everything started with a resonant filter!
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.9 месяцев назад
All did indeed start with a single ping from the Instruo I-o47, and then through the magic of recording many of them at different Lubadh's speeds... we got to this chirping forest of layers upon layers of magic! Arbhar came last, providing some substance under Lubadh (and the reverb too!), so I could easily tweak the two decks without having moments of silence. I left this going for hours, then...
Buchla TipTop + Strymon Starlab // More than just blipblops
Просмотров 7 тыс.10 месяцев назад
I wanted to be more regular with the uploads, but it turned out life always gets in the middle. But here we are: the most analog waves coming from the Buchla by TipTop Audio lineup crashing against the digital Strymon Starlab shore. The setup is comprised of a double 258t (oscillator), one of which is producing the chords you've heard at the beginning, while the other is on modulation duty. The...
Polyend Tracker // An undercover ambient machine
Просмотров 5 тыс.Год назад
I mean... it was on sale, how could I resist? First day with the Polyend Tracker: this jam came out spontaneously while browsing the manual and familiarizing with the instrument (and the manual was mostly to double check before clicking something that could have destroyed the whole project!). I've never used a tracker before, but everything came natural to me, with the modifiers, the lovely Fil...
Meng Qi Wing Pinger & OP1 Field // Welcome to my synthetic dojo
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.Год назад
I finally managed to bring the Wing Pinger to the new house, and as soon as I plugged it in, I remembered why I got it in the first place: its range from mellow, realistic birds, to harsh and complex territories, in a single twist of a knob. This time it can also make friends with the OP1 Field, acting as a recorder and FX for the Wing Pinger, in a somewhat small and portable experimental setup...
How to recreate the Hologram Microcosm in Eurorack (for just 10x the price)
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.Год назад
Do less with more! Wasn't that the saying? With this patch I wanted to recreate a simple two-voice setup, using two different sequencers but the same oscillator (the Instruo Cs-L), and then run them through a sort of Hologram Microcosm remade in eurorack. As for the PROs, a little tune at the beginning, then the patch demonstration/tutorial/patch breakdown/something else I don't remember, and t...
Instruō Lúbadh & Cš-L // Tape Looper as a Glitch Ambient Machine
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.Год назад
This video follows the live stream from two days ago! A single voice from the Instruo Cs-L is being fed four different sequences coming from the TipTop Buchla 245t, passing through the two mixers of the 257t, being once again mixed into the Instruo [1]f before entering the Instruo Harmonàig. A touch of reverb coming from the Strymon Starlab, and the recording stereo into the Lubadh, using both ...

Hands down the best tutorial I found yet regarding tuning the Lyra! Love your approach and presenting style
Gonna need u to drop the download link 🙏🏽 a di da phat!
great video. loved the breakdowns
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it 🧡
Hey are you still planning to do a tutorial? Would love to know how to do this with mine
So tasty! Blippin' and a bloopin its way into my weird heart, lil Wingie 2 is! This demo is legit.
This was amazing. This side of the Pulsar 23 is seldom seen on RUclips. The Pulsar 23 is capable of some serious beauty. It is incredible.
Gorgeous tones... excellent demo Dex !
Thank you so much! I would be curious to check the new Solar42f out, and see how it compares!
Hey Dexba, thanks for your presentation. I've read a lot about quality control issues with the pro 3,whats your experience with it? Dennis
Sounds amazing, can you share the patch?
This is the worst garbage i have ever heard. It doesn't sound like Ambient music at all. Do you even know what Ambient music is? I am not gonna lie, this synth wouldn't sound very good even if someone would play it who knows what he is doing. But you mangaed to make a bad sounding synth even worse. There are free VST plugin who sound better then this.
Mind sharing what you used to film this?
Sure! This is a Sony A7SIII + Sony 85mm f1.8 :)
@@Dexba It's a lovely image quality. I have the pink Lyra as well. It's a beautiful color in person and you captured it well.
@@jordanmuller4735 Thank you a lot, this shade of pink is quite hard to get right, and while beautiful in every lighting condition, it rarely comes out faithful to the in-person shade!
The Deep Space patch that comes with this is very similar.
grazie!
Is it difficult to make pleasing ambient sounds with the 0-coast?
Infatti -- mi trovo decisamente d'accordo con le tue conclusioni. Troppa complessità per poi sfociare in un output mono. Il mio l'ho rispedito a quelli della Perfect Circuit.
Wonderful !
Nice one, mate!
Thank you so much 🧡
poor! - it sounds like flatulence...........
It really does, and somebody out there has to synthesize flatulence sounds too! Or did you think in movies they just ripped real ones out in front of the mic?
Beautiful use of this lovely electronic music device.
Thank you a lot! It's not an easy one, especially for the audience, because as players & explorers we might - personally - enjoy even some more extreme noise, burbling and so on, when we play for and by ourselves, but that's harder to convey to a more general public. The rare moments I feel like I achieved that on the Wing Pinger, I am very glad I can share it with all of you 🧡
@@Dexba I was some of whose noise and abstract sounds weren’t inside my taste, thanks to great people and this community I realized the beauty of noise and waves. Show your talent is so inspirational and motivating.
Hey, my friend, your video is absolutely awesome! I know it’s really hard to play… but the Meng Qi Wing Pinger sounds incredible in your hands, and you’ve crafted such an immersive atmosphere full of rich textures. It’s clear you’ve got a special talent for bringing out the best in those sounds. you really nailed it-I’m already looking forward to hearing more!
Honoured 🙏🏻 I sometimes see it as a challenge: the Wing Pinger sits on my bookshelf in the living room, so I see every day, and some days I pick up the challenge it is offering me; sometimes I win, sometimes it wins, but it feels so good when I can tame it and ride the subtle line between noise and tones. Plus, the H90 can really be whatever I want, so now I have an extra ally to be able to tame the beast, which is definitely picky with the usual pedals and FX
Great performance!)…its life prosessing?..or pre recorded layer.. Anyway- love it!)
Thank you so much! No, everything coming from this live recording, I tend to focus 99.9% on the performance and get it right "in camera", but maybe I should learn how to layer too ;)
It’s like Phantom of the Opera synth style.
Beautiful. Keep ya head up yo.
Great demo, thanx! What do you think of the build quality of this Pro 3? Whobbly knobs, sticky buttons...
Thank you a lot for checking out my video! The PRO3 has probably the tightest build quality I've ever experienced: the knobs are probably even a bit too stiff, everything is ultra solid, including the hinge, no sticky buttons (yet) All in all a great instrument!
@@Dexba Thanx for the quick and clear response ;-)
Excellent! Is this all the Pro 3, anything in post?
All PRO3, really a complete machine, with the two 2 FX slots that can be modulated
@@Dexba fantastic, and thank you for the reply!
Awesome!
Thank you so much! 🧡
Lyra-8 is my must-have in the nearest future. Its blowing my mind <3
You will have a lot of fun exploring all its nuances 🧡
Great evolving pads sounds, should be used in a movie as backing. Lovely synth.
@@DexbaI am to blame, I guess. The mk I reverb didn't resonate with me. Thank you for showing this combination in such a great way.
@@fonitronik Definitely to be praised, more than blamed, especially because I always tended to avoid putting nice instruments through these very... "characterful" pedals, missing out on huge opportunities: I've never run the OB-6 through the BigSky, and now I have sold both and I will never get the chance to try it (unless I buy them both again, sure...) I love the synth community exactly because of these snippets of conversation, bouncing ideas back and forth, trying new stuff, even if it is to prove people right, wrong, or simply have fun 🧡
BIG.
beautiful and meaningful (at least for me). Really get beyond the noisy nature of this instrument. A pinch of chaos here and there would have brought the cherry on the cake but it's a lovely piece, still. Well done!
I forgot this one my friend!! I love it! and I like your mood limited version a lot! (I prefer yours to the original one that I have 😉)
Honoured, for real. Especially for "smaller" videos like this one, where it is just about the appreciation of the joy instruments bring us and the joy to share that with my virtual friends around the world! ...and I have to agree about the Mood mk2: almost didn't consider it in its purple over purple (wtf, Chase Bliss?) of the standard version, but this is just delightful!
Nice job. Sounds great. I've a Lyra 8 for about 2 months now and I'm obsessed.
Thank you so much! The Lyra can be so much that it takes a lot of time to explore even in its most basic form
I skip through and i just hear talking. Do you think its normal that you all talk more than you play synth on you channel and do you think its normal to explore a synth one time in a bad one take just to present anything new a week later until you die? There is a sickness in this scene... I never saw more disgusting creatures than synthtuber on the internet. No serialkiller nothing. Please go search for a new hobby like collecting soap. Then you can talk the whole day how it smells and feels and you can buy a new piece of soap every day....🎉
I just hoped this is a passionate 40 min demo but then....noooo another human manual. Why you guys don't present calculators. Why you can't just shut up and do what people do with instruments?
I can’t wait to check out your 40 min demo!
Very nice mate, very nice.
Thank you so much 🧡
This is wonderful
Matriarch is such an inspiring instrument!
Great tutorial for the Lyra, very inspiring. 🙌👍👍
Thank you so much, I’m glad you found it inspiring ✨
Sounds very refreshing, especially during summer heat :D
I do find pings to be refreshing too! And the Serge filter is just so good at them. Thank you for checking my recording out 🧡
btw the way you do it, somehow reminds me of Ondes Martenot a bit
Amazing play!
very good
Thank you a lot!
Love this! Mind me asking where you got your patch cables from? Love them.
Mi manca di già il MOOD
Quando ci vuole il Mood, ci vuole proprio il Mood
This sounds freaking epic😮
Thank you so much! And... it's hard to go back from Serge and 4U 😥 It will be a painful and expensive journey from now on ahah
Hello, the power supply is dual 110/230V?
The power supply is not provided, so you will get the one you prefer, but they are all usually 100/110/220/230!
