I agree completely, even though sometimes I miss the possibility to use two rows in series and have 10 steps, or even run different lanes at different speeds. Well, I guess I have to buy another 245t 😄
That's exactly what I like about these old (inspired) modules. They can be so much "everything" that sometimes it's even hard to go past a few analog farts. But when you lock in, and you start seeing the direction unfolding, that's a beautiful moment, and I'm glad it came out as a beautiful record too!
Oh I like this a lot! Beautiful sound textures, especially that background string type drone and all so dramatic with great movement into different spaces! Great fun to be able to see what you are doing. You seem totally familiar with and in control of your synth setup.... i.e. controlled improvisation, not just random happenstance that sounds good.
Honored, thank you so much! I love the fact that everything is on the panel, with these modules. They're very tactile by design, so yeah, I usually rehearse the "path of interactions" for about half an hour and then press record, to strike the right balance between improvisation and knowing my way through them. Controlled improvisation, as you very well said 🧡
I might get a Buchla TipTop and the Straymon combo, but not sure the two Straymons overlap in function. This patch would not have that deep ambience with those two effects. Im bookmarking this to try and duplicate it with the description provided although i realize there's more to it than is on the surface. Great soundscape. Thanks for sharing 🎉🎉🎉
Strymon is undeniably at the top of the game, in the FX sector. I tried going for the Magneto first, but with this patch it quickly got too busy, so I resorted to the Starlab. I don't see them overlapping too much in fuctions, but in a way they are kinda mutually exclusive, in the sense that they are so... present/bold, that using both of them is usually too much to handle. I would say that for something like the Buchla TipTop lineup a more straightforward and less HP-hungry FX module could be more than sufficient, something like the MFX by ALM or even the Pico one, which has a surprisingly good delay algorithm :) In any case: thank you so much, and if you need any help or simply want to exchange some ideas about the patching, I'm here (or on Instagram) 🧡
Thank you so much! And I completely agree: while I am the first to love experimentation and cacophony (mostly as an exercise, but still), I always found it a bit strange that the Buchla world seemed to focus just on that, seemingly ignoring anything more melodic, and that's a shame since the sound is beautiful and the capability is there!
@Dexba you are completely right. The 258t sounds fat. More than my Roland 512 and I love transitioning between sine and square. I used it with an A-106-5 SEM filter... Instant synthwave, I swear 😂 The buchla system is capable of infinite possibilities, for those who own the sequencer and the source of uncertainty like you at least (I own only 281t and 258t in my case that is mostly Roland based). I think most people want to express the potential of this system. But the system sounds actually very good. It's a pity.
This could be a nice way to taste the (old) Buchla world! Simpler module units that makes you think a bit more in order to reach specific results. Probably a bit more even compared to Doepfer, since Doepfer has a module for everything, so you could potentially "buy your way" into a patch :)
Thank you so much 🧡 These Buchla/TipTop modules are a great way to remind us why we go modular, and they are priced in a way that is difficult to resist them ;)
Thank you so much! I do have one, you can find it as Dexba there too, but at the moment it’s a bit neglected. I will need to find the time and patience to organize my other recordings and put them there too 🧡
Unfortunately not, but a red Starlab would be sick! No, I just colour-shifted the whole video (actually compressed, around that red-orangish tint). Thank you a lot, I'm happy you like it 🧡
Thank you a lot 🙏🏻 In this case I used a color compressor in my NLE, but you could easily buy those same knobs in red, exactly the ones Verbos is using on their modules :)
I feel the same. Granted, most of the more experimental stuff I play doesn't end up on RUclips (unfortunately they don't do that well), but I always found silly the religious division between West and East Coast, especially because it easily ends up being more a religious thing rather than a technical thing, and I see instruments mostly as tools for MY expression, not someone else's agenda. I am glad this came through with this piece, and a new one (the one featured in the Modular World TipTop/Buchla video) will follow soon 🧡
I put up experiments in intermedia that are modular driven …. I hide in the over- saturation. People don’t generally understand why i do thing… but context destroys.. I was complementing you for annihilating notions… we apparently agree about such things
5-step sequences are soooo musical, lovely piece
I agree completely, even though sometimes I miss the possibility to use two rows in series and have 10 steps, or even run different lanes at different speeds.
Well, I guess I have to buy another 245t 😄
The Buchla voice and the massive reverb gives instant Cortini vibes.
I'll take this as a huge compliment, thank you so much 🧡🙏🏻
Oh good, it also does bliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiips and blooooooooooooops
Oh yeah it does 😄 In music, everything is a rhythm, it's all just vibrations ahah
Well done! Not just musical moment with "happy accidents" but fully developed musical piece. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you a lot! Trying to push myself more towards musical pieces again, even just as an exercise 🧡
That 258t sounds sooo good! I love the progression of this piece.
Thank you so much! And I agree completely: for the price, even without considering the Buchla name, it is a banger!
It does sound really good.
Watched this a few times now...love it each time for something new! Thank you!
Humbled, for real, especially coming from you!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻
Excellent excellent work. I can appreciate the restraint or focus, what with all the options of an open ended setup like this.
That's exactly what I like about these old (inspired) modules.

Controlled improvisation, as you very well said 🧡
I could listen to this all day. 👌
I will make sure to release it as audio-only too, in the near future :)
Thank you so much!

Excellent piece man. I really enjoyed this one beautiful soundescaping progression in the cool sequence. Nice ending….✨✨✨
Thank you so much, I am glad you liked it! 🧡
I feel like it is a bit of "back to the basics" and "jumping into the future" for my style!
I love when someone take these modules and do real music, not just experimental cacophony! These modules sound great and I love your video.
Thank you so much! Really nice patch!
Thank you a lot!
I wanted to make it as dense as I could, but without making it crowded or confused!
I'm a bit into eurorack modules since couple of years but buchla still seems like magic or different world to me
This could be a nice way to taste the (old) Buchla world!

your sound is stunning am looking at tiptop modules am sure i ll buy some
Thank you so much 🧡

Wow! Just wow😮
So glad you like it 🧡
Lovely stuff
Thank you so much, glad you like it 🧡
so sweet; ambient music finesse
Honored 🧡
Now I would just need the magic of the tape to glue everything together...
Sounds great!
Thank you so much 🧡
bravo ! really really nice !
Thank you so much 🙏🏻
Lovely!
Thank you so much 🧡
Amazing
Thank you, I am glad you like it! 🧡
💙
Ahaha so good, thank you so much!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you a lot 🧡
dope!!!
Thank you so much 🧡
That was wonderful. Do you have a Bandcamp channel?
Thank you so much! I do have one, you can find it as Dexba there too, but at the moment it’s a bit neglected.
I will need to find the time and patience to organize my other recordings and put them there too 🧡
very nice :)
Thank you a lot 🧡
Very noice.
Thank you so much 🧡
Did you get that red Starlab panel custom made? Looks great! (rack sounds amazing too!)
Unfortunately not, but a red Starlab would be sick!
No, I just colour-shifted the whole video (actually compressed, around that red-orangish tint).
Thank you a lot, I'm happy you like it 🧡
Love this piece, how come your modules have red knobs? just wondering.
Thank you a lot 🙏🏻
In this case I used a color compressor in my NLE, but you could easily buy those same knobs in red, exactly the ones Verbos is using on their modules :)
I’m an experimental sound designer but I do appreciate the far move away from standard west coast enthusiast lack of effects and filters etc..
I feel the same.

4:11 nice sub bass creeping in
These oscillators are crazy good for the price!
Not just blipblops. Also bleeps!
Those are my favourite 😍
How the heck did you get a red Starlab?
Eheh unfortunately it is just a color compressor applied to the video 😄
But I would love to have a red Starlab
@@Dexba Disappointing, but also cool to know this color compressor thingy exists
Wonder
Thank you so much 🧡
