This week’s practice will integrate core work. Our spine is a flexible rod. Strengthening the full length of the spine and using those muscles to control the twists and bends keeps our spines healthy and gives us the fullest movement in our bodies. Practice includes deep breathing, lunging, balancing, and strengthening of the hip and back muscles. We begin and end with a focus on appreciating this moment, even daily routines can be wonderful when noticed! You choose to stay in the best poses that work for your intentions. any Inversion inverted bicycle and shoulderstand and plough and feet
Thank you for your interest in these yoga classes. I agree inversions are wonderful and valuable! The ones I often include are legs up the wall and straddle fold, sometimes with a twist. The neck has smaller vertebra that can be vulnerable in inversions that weight the neck and shoulders and there are some concerns of loosening plaques in the carotid arteries with deeper inversions. I am doing very well thankfully! You can see my yoga practice on the other videos on my you tube page. My pain is mostly zero. If I sit too long, then pain can occur. It usually responds to a good walk. I do yoga and walk for exercise and do not use any medications. I also eat a Whole Food Plant Based diet which is very anti-inflammatory. So far so good. I have benefited from Upright health and Got ROM and FAI fix program exercises for muscle balance and strengthening. I wish I had found those videos before surgery, I wonder if I could have avoided surgery. One thing my surgeon did not know was to leave the torn labrum in place and use fibrin glue to stabilize it, I understand that is more effective now. He cleaned it up by cutting it out and then performing microfracture. A couple years ago I saw a bone specialist about bone density and she informed me that the more procedures people have the faster they move to hip replacements, but who knows which causes which. My bone density was low as a post menopausal female, but with a low salt WFPB diet and large quantities of leafy greens (especially collard greens) my bone density rose 8% in one year! The body wants to heal, listen to it and work with it! Best wishes on your joint care journey!
