Swimming Basics - The FIRST THING you should learn as a new swimmer! The backstroke body position
This video is for absolute beginners to swimming or backstroke. It is the first thing Adam teaches new swimmers who have not learned to swim yet or have a fear of the water. Backstroke is an excellent first stroke to learn as it is easy to learn and keeps your face out of the water. You can take it at your own pace, and this video aims to teach you the body position (floating on your back) and how to practice for it.
Please watch our flutter kick video to progress your kick and aid your backstroke position. You can find it in our swimming basics playlist here:

Swimming Basics - Front crawl how to breathe to the side (freestyle)
Просмотров 8 тыс.14 дней назад
Have you ever wondered why swimmers breathe to the side when swimming front crawl (freestyle)? In this video, Adam explains why we want to breathe to the side to help our body position, reduce water resistance, and speed up our swimming. Breathing to the side will help you swim for longer as it is more efficient and causes less strain on your body during your swimming workout. Adam also talks a...
Swimming Basics - How to swim breaststroke: Timing, breathing and full stroke

It is also a great stroke for those with shoulder or lower limb injuries as it is a linear stroke without too much rotation of the joints. In this video, Adam runs through the basics of the breasts...

    "In out together" - can you please elaborate on whether arms and legs coordinate simultaneously? I cannot coordinate properly; I seem to be using my arms and legs simultaneously, and of course, I still cannot breathe yet. I have been swimming for 5 weeks.

    • @AaquaticsUK
      @AaquaticsUK День назад

      Sure, that is the trickiest part. I use those words to time the actions and get you moving. But when you drill down into the stroke you find that the legs snap and you use that snap the propel you forward as the arms pull to lift you out. So in more advanced technique the legs go before the arms by a very small amount. I will do a video for you soon to explain the exact timing - but if you need any exercises or help, get in touch with us by email and I can help you out!

      Thank you for the comment. Make sure you are fully exhaling underwater, and breathing in when you lift your head out of the water. Practice standing still, exhaling for three seconds underwater (blowing bubbles) and lift your head to breath. Hi, I had total knee replacement on my both knees, I want to learn breast stroke. But because of total knee operation I can’t bend completely, to bring my legs near my bottom. I can bend only upto 90% . So do you think I can’t do breast stroke properly?

    • @AaquaticsUK
      @AaquaticsUK 28 дней назад

      Best to follow your doctor’s advice. But from experience this won’t be a problem for you at all. Even with the limited range of motion, you will still be able to perform the leg action and it will help you to strengthen the associated muscles and tendons around the joint. I’d recommend trying it with the legs in isolation, perhaps buy yourself a pool noodle and pop it under your arms and try the leg action. I will film a video for you soon, to show different ways to practice all of these things in multiple ways. In the meantime best of luck, let us know how it goes! 👍 If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out.
