This is SO weird. My mom took me there idk... Couldn't have been more than a few years ago on my birthday and she took me shopping. And I was there for my birthday this year and I think it was still open, the woman at the Hilton was saying it was a ghost town but there was still shopping there. Are they demoing it? I think I was in high school when it opened.

They missed😂. Honestly, i am going to miss this movie theater. If they tear down MacArthur center in the future, and there is a good chance of that happening, the only other theater in Norfolk would be the Naro. I think the base might have a theater, but i cant get on the base without a sponser. To be fair, i haven't been to a movie theater in a long time, and probably wont go any time soon. It doesn't appeal to me like it did when i was in high school.

I was just there yesterday. The only reason I go anymore is to use the money exchange kiosk to buy foreign currency when I travel overseas. There were more security guards than shoppers It's a mall that should have never been built in the first place. It is a high end mall in a low rent area built when malls were already past their prime. I don't think it ever got over 80% occupancy at any point in its life

Very sad video. You are correct that there hasn't been crime there. That whole area is pretty upscale and super safe. There is a lot of both old and new money in Richmond, especially in the more suburban areas and Stony Point shoppers definitely had money. Honestly online shopping is a huge factor killing these malls. I know I used to love going to the mall, especially Stony Point. I couldn't afford most of the stores. It was just pretty to walk around. Now I shop online these days. Short pump mall was always better and not as upscale. Oddly enough I was told that the more "old school typical mall" Chesterfield has been super crowded recently. So it would seem the clientele that would shop as upscale malls like Stony Point either go to Northern VA to shop or just go online.
