    Mom dragged me here all the time in the early 7'o's, Sears, Woolworths, good times. Going to miss that place.

      Yeah. I remember the days of being dragged to the mall. Usually for clothes when I wanted to see something cool 😎 I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the video.

      Same Here, but I didn’t have a choice on the Toughskins 😂😂😂
      I think my Fondest Memory will always be S&W Cafeteria, where our family ate almost every Friday night in the 70’s 😢😢😢

    Brings back so many memories when my parents took us kids there to shop. Missing Woolworths, Sears and the water fountain!!!

      @DyingRetail  6 месяцев назад

      I was too young when the fountain was there. Except for some old footage I never got to experience it.

    I grew up in Va Beach. As a little kid my mom would go to sears at this mall and I would come along. Inside the sears there was a kiosk that sold candy and doughnuts. And there was popcorn too! I was happy to go there and endure my mom trying on dress after dress - the deal was I got to go look at the toys and mom would get me some candy. My mom would try to buy me jeans from sears. I wore Lee jeans instead of sears toughskins because I didn't want to be beat up at school, lol. Inside the mall there was this store called "The Alley" that sold all sorts of sundry items. I believe there was a fountain too in there. I saw the movie "Charlottes Web" in the separate movie theatre next door. 1979 - Great memories of a time long gone by. It's not a good sign that demolition has not started. I hope what they have planned works out for the community.

      I’m glad the video brought back good memories for you. The interior demolition might be on schedule. Maybe they had site plans and stuff to go through first. However, from what I heard there are several out of area dining options and possible live entertainment venue coming. I hope it all works out for the best.

    My most Fondest Memory of Pembroke Mall will always be S&W Cafeteria - Our family ate there almost every Friday night in the 70’s and had very good food & they even had a back door that existed into an alley, seemed so Cool as a Child - Such good memories ❤️

    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I’ve visited Pembroke Mall back in 2012. It was a quiet mall back then. All the anchors were open then but the mall wasn’t busy. It’s still really sad to see it go.

    Probably the same reason stuff stays abandoned and not torn down in Portsmouth..... But I would have though VA Beach would have more revenue to do such things as demo

    • @DyingRetail

    Whoa. I haven't been to this mall since I was a teen of the 00s, actually that's not true, I came back as a Navy wife and mom in 2008, and it was pretty slow going then IIRC. Wasn't there at Radio Shack and a Toys R Us there, too?
