Was music still playing there?? Lol! I kept wanting to know what the abandoned hotel looked like inside. I keep seeing footage of the mall but not the hotel. I just left a comment under another video. I remember when people used to set off fireworks 🎆🎇 from the top of the Hotel for the 4th of July. This was when i was little, in the late 80's. My family and i usually always watched the fireworks 🎆 at the beach/Chic's Beach off of Shore Dr. where we lived in Virginia Beach. However, on occasion, we had to stay at my Grandma's house and she lived near Military Circle. We would drive over there, park across the way and watch the cool fireworks show from off the top of that Hotel. I'm not sure what year it stopped being the Sheraton and became the Double Tree though. 🤔 Thank you so much for taking the time to film this area and thank you for sharing it with all of us. #LoveThe757 🥰💗💕🌹
There was the Muzak system that started when I went up to the door. From what I can tell the hotel is bare. Everything has been stripped out of the rooms. :)
Obviously the sprinkler system in the former hotel failed or the the pipes froze releasing all the water into the hotel so I can imagine the hotel has bad water damage.
It’s been in bad shape for years. The upper floors has rooms with busted out windows so no telling what’s been growing in there. Either sprinkler system or a main line.
I literally went past this mall today on my way home, still thinking about how it use to be the spot back in the 80's and 90's,I've worked at 2 different retailers, Software etc (then became Gamestop) and Jcpenny
The alarms had been going off for over a month. I do not know if they were connected to emergency services. When the shut off the main pipe they appeared to also turn off those alarms.
I really wonder how full that lobby was. You can't really see inside because they have black plastic covering the windows but the water jetting out of the seem at the bottom had me concerned which is why I backed up.

+CoolCat Productions Malls & Retail Im sure it’s had years worth of damage. Id hate to be inside there.

Yep. Lot of memories.
I had similar issues at work today and the pipes were frozen
I tried to find mall security to alert them but no luck. Found someone leaving the hospital offices there and they were going to alert someone.
Geez, would hate to see *that* water bill! 😬
They'll probably get the city to eat it since they purchased the property.
Was that just a random boom box playing music?
It was their music system that started up as I walked up to the window. Freaked me out when it suddenly started playing.
With Alarms going off, where’s the Fire Department?
The alarms had been going off for over a month. I do not know if they were connected to emergency services. When the shut off the main pipe they appeared to also turn off those alarms.
Think about the water buildup and what will happen to the mall like that pressure imagine what the theater looks like too
The theater as far as I know is fine. Of course it was only recently closed where this hotel has been closed for over a decade.
@@DyingRetail is there away to see in the old Pembroke Mall?
+Master Wolf of the sea As far as I know the theater wasn’t having leaks.
It looks like a pipe burst or fire sprinklers from the alarm going off
The alarms had been going off over a month prior to the Christmas freeze. I did notice when the water was stopped, the alarm was shut off as well.
+Mel Brown oh I’m sure. No telling how much water was behind the glass that day.
Is the alarm going off part of the mall?
It's the hotel that has the alarm going off
The alarm is in the hotel and has been going off for almost a month. I did a short showing the strobe lights flashing on all the floors.
Why wasn't the water shut off ?, being it's vacant.
I’m sure pipe runs through the mall.
I'm sure that despite being vacant, the fire suppression system has to remain active.
Don’t forget. The hotel was part of the building so I’m sure it shared plumbing.
So sad to see...
Yes. It sure is.
+unionrandom I know. Thanks for watching. Sorry for late reply.
Is the mall flooded too
From what I saw no. It appears to have just been the hotel area.
Must be a water main

+Dennis W 👍🏼
Military circle mall
Yep. Thanks for stopping by.
