  • Golden Corral at Chesapeake Square in Chesapeake, VA. wasn’t able to recover from Pandemic shutdowns and fears. As of June 2022, the property is up for sale. Do not know if present structure will remain when sold.

    We eat at GC pretty regularly. There used to be one on Kempsville Rd here in Virginia Beach but sadly it closed quite a few years ago. Now we go to the one on Independence or Battlefield. Great content. Subb'd bro

      I am glad you enjoyed. The one on Battlefield in Chesapeake seems to be dirty and nasty. Independence seemed to be a better dining experience. The location they had in Redmill Commons in Virginia Beach was also closed.

      @DyingRetail the one on Independence just got a remodel so it's pretty nice right now. That location seems to do well.

      I’ll have to dine there sometime. Been several years since I was there.

    When did the Golden Corral at Chesapeake Square open? I know it is now closed but I was curious what year it opened? Thanks in advance for responding.

      @2811abcdefg I will see what I can find. The mall opened in 1989 and I am going to have to dig a little bit. Not finding it in a quick search.

    Every Saturday morning we were released for the weekend from ft Eustis 10 or 15 of us would hit that place and eat and eat....

      I miss when you actually sat down and ordered food. With the all you can eat set up you watched overweight people just pigging out. Sometimes it was gross to watch.

    Just a suggestion, but you might want to get closer to windows to get a better view. Some people like to see what it looks like. Also try to stretch out the videos to 20 to 25 mins for more ads.

      Unfortunately, didn’t feel there was much more to film for twenty minutes. Unlike the malls, this restaurant didn’t have a lot of information I could find to use. But I appreciate the suggestions.

    Just curious if you considered doing the one on north Military Highway, next to the airport. It went out of business at the start of the pandemic. That whole shopping center has been dead for a while. There used to be a super K-mart, and a seirs outlet. Now, there isn't much except a liquor store, and a dollar tree. I don't know if there are any plans for the area, but you would think somthing would have replaced it by now, given it's location.

      I do have some ideas of some of those areas. Just not sure when I can get time to grab some footage. I would like to tackle Janaf and possibly Wards Corner as well in future videos. Thanks for watching and I hope you are enjoying.

      My brother worked for the company who owns all HR locations. Owners are racists. They use pandemic as excuse to close all in black areas.

    • @DyingRetail
      @DyingRetail  Год назад +1

      @@denverleatherboy Do not know about the owners but it wouldn’t surprise me. Besides this one at Chesapeake Square I am aware of the Golden Corral that was closed it in the Redmill commons section of Virginia Beach. What other locations have closed?

    • @denverleatherboy
      @denverleatherboy Год назад +1

      @@DyingRetail My brother was manager of the Hampton location. (Which they closed because of their racism). They only had ONE person of color in management and he had been with the company for decades. I believe they closed one in Portsmouth too. My brother said he sat thru meeting where they would make outrageously racist comments on the regular basis. I'd NEVER eat in a HR area Golden Corral.

    • @denverleatherboy
      @denverleatherboy Год назад +1

      To be fair, the Hampton location had to have an off duty copy in the store. They had lots of problems with people camping all day, swapping with friends (receipt fraud), people filling their purse, etc.

      It shut down in 2020. Never came back. I think it’s the 21st there’s an auction. Are you noticing weird stats on your channel? They were saying there was issues tracking live view data and now it’s like my stuff has dropped a lot. Unless the shorts is having an adverse affect which I don’t see how.

    Does anyone know why it didn’t reopen? They alway had a lot of business before the pandemic. Other buffets reopened such as china buffet, so why didn’t this one survive. I went there with my dad regularly since it was his favorite place. 😢

      I am leaning towards the COVID crap. In 2020 it closed down and never re-opened. I can see if I can find more info. There’s another one in the Red Mill section of Virginia Beach that closed and I believe that was around 2019. Some of this can also be changing attitudes of Gen Z and millennials. I read often that a lot of these chains they do not care for.

      Got me. They had the auction near end of February. Maybe they think it helps deter people trying to break in…. Or they have money to burn.
