Will This Handle Our Rocky Terrain!?...We Bought A Titan PGD1032H Gas Powered Post Driver
The manual t-post driver just wasn't cutting it... so we upgraded to a gas powered Titan t-post PGD1032H driver. We are hoping this will make fencing our garden plus many other projects around the homestead a bit easier on us!

From chopping down the logs we used for our raised bed garden, to filling each bed with dirt.. it's been a never ending project! Fortunately, we can see the finish line... We decided to put only dirt in one raised bed, then dirt and logs in the second raised bed. Kelly from @deerhavenoffgridhomestead told us about the hugelkultur approach to gardening. Adding logs, branches, and dirt on top all...

Electric fencing. You need a few more wires down lower. Deer will rush under the fence
It’s not a really good huckleberry season this year.
You will get better at it.
Marigolds are about the only thing the rabbits haven't eaten! They even ate a dwarf sunflower and morning glories. Thankfully I don't 😮have a lot of deer but the birds like the strawberries. Your property is looking good!!
I finally gave in and put in 10 ft t-posts and that worked for me. They are pounded in around 2.5 to 3 feet so the fence is about 7 feet tall finished. Yes it was a huge amount of work and required a ladder to get up high enough to pound in, but worth it. Especially with chronic wasting disease I don't want deer anywhere near my food. I've seen videos where deer jumped 10 ft fences but they had a large area for a landing site. They won't jump that high if they can't see a clear space to land, they might try to tear it down though in a drought. I had a bunch of short posts already so I did a 10 foot post every 10 feet with a short one in-between. For wire I used 6 ft chicken wire on the lower portion. I left about a foot of the chicken wire laying flat at the bottom and held it down with rocks to keep critters from going under. I expected coyotes and such to try to dig under but that never happened. Then I put single wire up to the top. 12 inch spacing would be fine. The main thing is that top wire is up high. I see deer looking longingly through the fence but have never had one try to jump over. I've only had one rabbit who found a way to get under but I found where it was getting in and added more rocks. The critters it won't keep out. Snakes, pocket gophers, racoons, skunks, porcupines and grasshoppers. The hard part is a gate where critters can't get under or over. The best gate I've made so far is the same height as the fence. It has a 2 x 4 frame similar to a door, attached to 4x4 posts. Then I put large rocks as flat as I could find, in the ground under the gate to where it almost touches the bottom of the gate.
Kacie is see your leg healed good. I have problem with birds and green beans. So, i use a bird netting now. Starting seeds in cups and trays they get root bound easily. If you start early use a bigger tray it helps. (future reference) Work on the house and grounds coming along great.
Great job. Your almost ready for winter. We just th ave to wait for your garden to grow. I am so looking forward to this. I agree the rabbits need to go. I hear rabbit stew is good!😁😋😊
No!! No hunting rabbits. They are too cute 😊
Defend your space you need, not the property. Single wire electric fence done right will deter the deer. Keep in mind pack rats like plants for bedding. Notice you don't have your hoods up on your vehicles. They love hood liners. LOL!
You may need to build a green house. I noticed some of the other RUclips people do that.
I believe deer can jump/leap 10 feet fencing. Good luck! I am rooting for you to start the garden of your dreams!
1st!
The best thing you can do with the wheelbarrow is to get it sandblasted and then prime it with a good quality metal primer and then paint it with a paint like hammer rite (it’s a fantastic metal paint that is rust resistant and provides a very good wear resistant coating), I put it on my barrow back in 2003 and it’s still going strong and it’s shifted rocks, bricks, breeze(concrete) blocks as well as manure, sand and soil. But the beds are really tacking shape 😊.
Power Jake to do the tposts ???
I hope you have some pew pews for bears when you go hiking. I sure would Those gardens are beautiful! Great job!
It’s beautiful up there, love the videos and the progress on your home and garden ❤
Thanks so much!
Beautiful plants and really like the ideas on gardening 👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
Good friends are hard to find.
Indeed they are!
Wow! Kacie you did great on the garden beds. I can hardly wait to see your plants in there. 😊 I was hoping to see you guys having lunch with deer haven. Looked like it was a fun working trip for y'all. See you next week. 😊
Thanks! It was a lot of work but it is worth it. Noted! We will keep that in mind for the next time we meet up with Kelly & DeWayne.
I'm curious how it's working for you so far? I'm looking forward to getting the ones I did not do this year switched over. I got the beans you have me planted and the are coming back!
Yay! I'm glad the beans are coming back. The deer have been munching on the raspberries... still need to get those fenced in. So far, the raised bed I did with the logs and twigs in it, is doing pretty good. I can tell by digging around in the soil that it's absorbing water pretty well. We already have onions and potatoes we just planted coming up in this bed!
Plastic wheel barrel.............Keep up the good work, love your channel!!!
Thank you! It's hard to find a decent wheelbarrow these days...
Service Berries, Garnett Range for Huckleberries. Have fun hunting them in season, a lot of competition out there. Waiting for Flathead Cherry harvest. Enjoy!
Thanks for the tip! Have you been to Garnett Ghost Town? It's a pretty area. The cherry crops in the flathead area got hit pretty hard by a freeze this winter... hopefully there will still be cherries available to harvest.
Thanks for taking us with you. That is a beautiful hike! The berries will be delicious and I can hardly wait to see those growing.
Kacie can't wait to bake a huckleberry pie!
Oh my that sounds scrumptious! She’ll have to show us that on YT.
Beautiful hikes. Great idea scouting for them early is a smart idea.
Hope ya'll enjoyed Bozeman. I live here and didn't even know there was a meat eater store. I'll have to go check it out.
Yeah! It was really cool. I think it just opened up.
How long was that snake and what kind was it?
The snake was 6 feet, it was a rat snake.
How did you settle on Montana?
That's a fantastic question. Kacie's family is from Missoula, so Montana has always been a special place for her. Adam and I took a couple of trips to Montana, and fell in love with multiple areas and all of the recreational opportunities. We will cover this topic more in depth in a video coming soon!
KC, be very happy you stayed home. Texas is already seeing 💯 degree temps or close to it
Yeah, dealing with the wind was much better than dealing with the heat!
Also, thanks for showing us the museum tour. It gives me ideas for a vacation. Great!😀
You bet! It's definitely worth checking out.
I can hardly wait to go. 😀
That was a nice, entertaining video. I hope your plants will do okay. It was nice seeing more of Kacie. I like how good the porch looks now. If you want get a pretty tablecloth and wrap on top of your already wrapped wash machine on the porch and pretend its a counter. You could always add a round or square piece of wood on top and use it as a little table. You'd just have to buy the right height chairs for it. Or not. Just a thought. Glad to see y'all this week. Have a good and productive week. Take care. 😊
Thank you! Our plants are just kind of ehhh. Hopefully they start to take off soon! I like your idea for turning the oven into a little table. That would be fun!
So your Husband gets to runoff and frolic, and you have to stay home and do outside house work. How rude. My wife's favorite is beets. My wife is a pumpkin girl. Every fall I have to go to the store and get one of every snack pumpkin. Looks like you guys are having a great time. Good Luck.
Haha! It was HOT in Texas, so I was okay with it. It sounds like your wife and I would get along great! I already have a craving for a pumpkin spice latte...
Good to see more of Kacie in this video!! The time frame is a bit confusing on the videos, its near the end of June and Kacie said it's May and is just planting some seeds. I really enjoy your videos but I'm often confused by the time difference.
Thank you! This video was recorded in May. Kacie was planting a second round of crops in May for our garden. Whatever projects we are filming for in May, will typically be released in June. We have a TON of footage to go through. We are working towards releasing videos in more 'real time'.
Great video. Looks like a fun trip for all
Indeed!
I love your guys videos. You explain why you do things.
Thank you! That is Adam's goal, to explain why we do the things we do.
I hate Plumbers crack! LOL
I also love your inspector! Cute!
I agree with you Kacie, I hate plumbing. Its a necessary function. But let it be done already. The Aurora Borealis was beautiful! Thanks 😊
Indeed, plumbing is a necessary evil haha! I just have to remember the end goal... a hot shower with a turn of a faucet.
There is that! 😀
Wow! Love your Aurora footage! I totally agree about plumbing. When my toilet got fixed I proclaimed it to be plumber appreciation day!
Haha right!? I like that, plumber appreciation day!
1/3ofthe stud
Looking more and more like a house.😊 Love the bantering between you and Kacie.
Hi l would put extra support on your roof in the future will save you money 💵 xx
Hi can see you trying to save your plants 🪴 all you can do is try 😊good luck with them xx❤❤❤
Thanks! Sadly, they have been in their red solo cups for a little too long. I'm not sure how well they will do this year. We are going to sow new seeds into the garden this week.
Thanks Kacie for the nature visuals at the beginning! That is so beautiful! That snow/sleeting storm was unexpected. I guess that's just Montana. It looks like Adam is getting a lot done. I can hardly wait for the finished house. Take care and God bless you all.
Oh yes, Montana can be very unpredictable. Adam has been getting a lot of projects done around the house while I get our garden ready for planting seeds. We are a little late... but lessons learned.
Great video. It's been a really nice spring here with some unusually frosty nights. It's go time for the garden now. Yesterday I got my first try at sorghum planted. Onward and upward!
We JUST got out raised beds done... time to re-start the garden lol. We started seeds way to early, now they don't look so good.
@@bigskyoffgridThat's great! Y'all have so much going on! It's been a really weird year for gardening. It must have frosted a little here last night. Some of the tomato varieties I tried this year are very cold tender and showed signs of cold damage. Very unusual here for frost this late. You still have plenty of time for fall crops to mature. I just direct sowed some zucchini and yellow crook neck. I think there's probably time for those. Probably green beans if you still have them in pots. If not I would direct seed some of a bush variety. Even if you don't get much produce this year, it's good just to get some roots growing and working their magic in the soil.
🫶
Is a greenhouse & porch cover in the future???😊 great video!
Indeed! We will be working on the porch and the roof this summer! Hopefully, a small greenhouse/ seed room this summer/fall as well.
I love how Adam is work and Kacie adds the fun in this video. You gotta love it. Disco! Yes 😁
Oh my! You have a Tree serial killer on the loose. Call the horticultural FBI. Let me know how that turns out!😄 I like all the hard work you've done
Tree serial killer and tree butcher... I have a lot of trees to clean up this year!
You clean a spark arrester with a propane torch. It is shown many times on small 2 stroke Engine repair videos.
Thanks for the info!
I'm impressed with your work.
Thanks! It's been a journey...
