  • We are feeling the pressure to get our off grid cabin 'livable', as the temperatures start to drop and the RV doesn't keep up. Adam continues on the with the build without Kacie, and realizes how hard doing this stuff on your own is... Luckily, we have some pretty awesome friends and neighbors who were happy to offer a helping hand!
    Make sure you subscribe to see our full cabin build!

    The stairs are awesome. You might want to cover your freezer so moisture doesn't hurt your electrical.

    Great job on the stairs! Can hardly wait for the door to be put in. Glad to see Kasie getting around and healing! I had the same type of injury, so I feel for you! Take care and be safe. 😊

    Great job! The two of you are such hard workers! I'm sure it is not only physically painful but also difficult for Casey to not be able to help build her home! We remodeled an old abandoned house and it was difficult, building a house from scratch is an amazingly work intensive undertaking but you are doing great!! Keep up the great work!! I look forward to your videos!! God Bless you both!!

      Thank you! It's been pretty hard for Kacie to not pitch in, but luckily she's able to now. She's getting back to her old self 😅

    The stairs were a highly professional job, congratulations!
    In general, it's nice to see how a project like this can develop.
    Best regards from Europe/Austria/Upperaustia/Marchtrenk

    You don't have to use all the holes on those stringers. They are made that way so you can use different widths of treads.😅

    Love the stairs! I'm thinking they might last a lot longer than with wooden supports. It's always amazing to me how many screws, brackets etc are required for the projects I'm working on. Like I would never look at those stairs and think, yes 80 screws should be enough!!! :)

      Right!? A ton of screws... I think they will last a long time as well. We are thinking of getting another set for the shipping container.

    Are you planning on doubling up the foam board insulation? How is that enough to keep out the cold?

    • @bigskyoffgrid
      @bigskyoffgrid  6 месяцев назад

      We are going to put fiberglass insulation up as well. The styroform insulation was an option we both felt could get us through the winter. Some insulation is better then none lol

    Where is your shower in your bathroom??

    • @bigskyoffgrid
      @bigskyoffgrid  5 месяцев назад

      Great question! When you walk into the bathroom, there are three bays on the right side. The first one is the pantry, the second one will be the shower, and the third one is the toilet.
      We plan on making a house tour video soon!

    well here is the thing you need to get on the power grid and I will tell you why I was born and raised in Montana and I know what winters are like ya you have solar in summer but won't do any good to have winter too many day and week and month with seeing the sun so solar does not work very well call the power company and get on the grid if don't you will not make in this state trust me I know

      Please!!!! They are going to be fine. Should of bought a propane fridge. But they will figure that out later. Power is 10 miles away. If you want to give them a million dollars. They will pay the power bill, Im sure. And you must not know much about solar.

    • @bigskyoffgrid
      @bigskyoffgrid  6 месяцев назад

      We won't ever be hooked up to the power grid on this property. It's too expensive and too far to bring in. We would rather have the freedom of being in charge of our own power.
      The solar system we have set up is just a temporary thing. Once we have our full system done, we aren't expecting to have much of any power concerns in the summer or winter.

      We were lucky and got our power 20 years ago when it was cheaper.
