Flight Duration 3 Rocket Crafter - V2 for 1.21 release
Now that 1.21 has officially been released, this is an updated version two design of my flight duration 3 rocket crafter that fixes some of the things that broke in the original design as Mojang tweaked the timings of how the Crafter worked.

System 13 - something was missing!

Thank to viewers who commented both on RUclips and Discord to help find an unstackable item filter to that fitted well into the System 13 sorting concept. @gules3971 pointed me to the Miazuma games pre sorter which fits well in the design, but takes two silo slices even if it does add book or potion sorting. In this video I show a very small silent 1 wide tilable multi item sorter, and how to use it as part of a system that grows witht he player to support from starter bases to the late mid game. Dropper Based Redstone Super Smelter (work in progress)

Short one, but its really a work in progress for an idea for using droppers to distribute items for a super smelter (as opposed to minecarts or even hoppers as seen in other designs). Note quite finished yet, hence no tutorial or title screen for the video. Main challenge is slowing it down to hopper speed so can hide it in with a build more easily.

Your minecarts are empty
Thx very cool system and compacte
Me again - I fully get that this video is a year old, and you're under no obligation to help me, but I've noticed a small bug with my build of this junction - when it's completely full (i.e. two minecarts waiting on each input lane) it will occasionally let two minecarts enter the junction at the same time, depending on how the clock lines up. I was just wondering if you had a world download or a .schematic / .litematic file I could look at to see if it's something I've completely buggered up - the repeaters are all 1 tick except the clock, which are 4 ticks, right?
More likely you found a flaw in the design given how you described the issue. If I was designing this again I'd use the piston and trap door trick I learned from one of inspector talons videos (I think) - as it can let mine carts stack and still only let one through on a pulse.
ruclips.net/video/b7Dr9twU1oo/видео.html
Unfortunately I'm still paying Baldur's gate and not doing Minecraft Redstone currently, so not likely to post an update on that build anytime soon.
@@elhedran Ah, thanks for the update. My planned use isn't particularly high volume, so it should be fine, but if I decide to convert my minecart return into an actual rail line, I'll take a look
I'd just like to say that this is incredible, and I'm going to be using this in my mines from now on.
I got this furnace working with the 32 stack, but my chests do not want to split at all. I can reliably split chests when not in a build, same world, but the ones on top do not split. They're even in the same chunk, so there's no loading bias going on. Any ideas?
Nvm I figured it out in mere seconds after this comment. Placing chests together with shift click will separate the sides even if it registers as a double chest, so you gotta place them on place-holder blocks so they join "naturally." What the hell, Mojang!
this along with the new rail snapshot could make long distance rail networks so good, i've already modified this system to hold state so i can send a "director" cart ahead of a player ridden cart
Is it important to have all the cauldrons in the same chunk?
Any redstone can break if it isn't idle when one chunk it's in unloads and another doesn't (e.g player leaving the area). This is mostly seen in sorting machines. I like to have it in one chunk so I don't have to think about that when using the machine. But so long as you are always happy to leave it idle (by not taking the last lava out is it) it is fine to have it over two chunks.
fantastic job :)
im ahving a bit of a problem here how do i send u screenshot? The firework cradfter is not crafting the fireworks .
There is a discord link in the channel description.
@@elhedran ok i will ask there after i build a raid farm thank u
nice, thank you for that
Cool build.
I did exactly how teach and the additional cos I’m on bedrock, but I still had to put 1 repeater on 4 tick. Now with one more change, that one with the repeater, I could solve my problem. Thanks a lot for real
Awesome tutorial, one suggestion would be to start the tutorial from where the inputs will be and have a demonstration of what the size will be like, in my example i needed the inputs to be flush with a wall but couldn't figure out where my starting point should be from where you started the tutorial
Regardless, thank you for your work! A great and underappreciated design
When the gunpowder runs out and there is still more paper, it fills a slot with paper. How do i prevent, or did I just follow it incorrectly
It should keep one slot with paper. The design in the video is for java though. Bedrock requires an additional bit of redstone (see video description)
@@elhedran i have the same problem though im on java
nvm fixed it i had the comparator behind the rocket crafter not in subtraction mode
Can I remplace the composter for a crafter with 1 slot clicked ?
Yes
Having problems with the actual firework crafter spiting stuff out what should I look for
Make sure the fireworks crafter is facing down into a barrel. Also make sure the fixed signals from the outer non-crafting crafter matches what is in the video. Unfortunately it's hard to work out why something is wrong without seeing it so most of what I'll say is check the video. Also, this was done in the Java edition. The description has done tweaks that may help with bedrock, but bedrock redstone is not friendly to more complex builds.
On PS5, can someone assist me as i am unable to get the items to spit out the paper side, after doing the change in the description. DM/discord thanks
Sorry, it's hard to work out redstone differences without seeing what was built. All I can suggest is double check the build and maybe post some screenshots of what is built on discord (link via channel)
Great video my man I’m using that system for my Nether Super Smelter..
Great design still in 1.21, Thanks!
Perfect tutorial. Thanks you so much !
Thank you so much for the tutorial and including a fix for bedrock players!
Amazing contraption. Nobody else handles underflow and overflow. Good job.
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for the video!
Awesome build! I'm running into a problem where the main crafter of the rocket overfills with paper if gunpowder is not present. the only primary difference between our builds is at 5:49 in your video. The lower redstone in the glass stays lit, unlike the upper Redstone dust. It's most likely my fault but I would really appreciate any tips!
If you have Discord or PlayStation I would love to message you to find my mistake!
Thanks for the fix Elhedran!
@@andrewghanayem2220im having this issue too, what was the fix
@@jeremshAre you on Bedrock? He put a screenshot of a necessary addition to prevent paper overflow cause Bedrock Redstone has issues not present in Java.

Awesome, will use this rather than my makeshift one! Thanks.
Fabulous video as always. Really enjoyed your clear explanation and reasonings for your builds. Thanks for sharing.
You missed a super obvious improvement. Also, the sound is off.
What improvement did I miss?
I agree with Canale, this is revolutionary. I've designed linear minecart item pick-up and deposit system for all my AFK farms on my SMP Realm, and I'll definitely be using this to transfer items to our Nether auto-sorter. This is absolutely perfect. Thank you for this; it's brilliant.
can you please show us the redstone for the quewing machine in the nether
ruclips.net/video/b7Dr9twU1oo/видео.html this is what I use now, might not be quite the same as in this video though
@@elhedran Thank you
I have built it (Stage I) on Java 1.12.2 and it did not work at the beginning. The observers were picking up no activity from note blocks. All the inserted items got stuck in the first dropper, the attached redstone clock was going on/off forever but that was all. I have solved it by replacing all of the note blocks by redstone lamps. Now it works like a charm. I really admire this elegant, flat and scalable design. Thanks for that.
Who's got the link for the showcase video?
Great system, the modular design makes it great to evolve as the player advances!
That's a nice use of observer as an indicator when the sorter is running. Alternatively, if you're in experimental/snapshot version, you can also use crafter as indicator. Similar to observer, crafter also has blinking texture when it is powered. Got this idea from watching Xisuma in his Hermitcraft 10 Ep. 1159 (at around 5:48). There he put crafter on the floor as indicator when his storage systems are running. And because the crafter texture is similar to plank, it looks nice and subtle with his plank flooring.
I built this in my survival world, but it seems like whenever I add too many items at once, the filler items move through the hoppers. I'm using 20/21 paper per hopper depending on stackable/unstackable, but the first two hoppers don't seem to consistently hold the 20 items. As soon as the 20 paper moves through, the whole sorting breaks. Any ideas what might cause this?
The first two slices (unstackables) also should have a different repeater setting for the lower repeater. It also would not deal well if built over a chunk boundary and was half loaded at any point. If all the repeater settings are right and it isn't a chunk loading issue then it must be something I haven't thought of. Worse case scenario is that there is something changing the in block update, update order between the to dropper and encoding hopper, the both fire in the same tick but the dropper needs to update first. If you work it out let me know please. Full transparency, I'm not using this in my survival world at the moment, and if I wanted an encoded multi item sorter would now look at cart based multi item sorters.
I also don't believe I tested all orientations and rotations for this build, I didn't think it would make a difference at the time, but it's a possibility I'll have to check. Can't this weekend as busy with away from computers but will check that next week.
ok, definitely works in all orientations and mirrors so that won't be it. Again, let me know if you work it out.
@@elhedran Thanks so much for taking the time to look at it! Based on your previous reply, I just built a chunk loader and it seems to be working now! I had extended the storage to be 30 slices thus crossing multiple chunks - one chunk was just outside the spawn chunks. It hasn't broken since the chunk loader has been running!
Queria um desse mais rápido
Not a lot of chests for MIS though
True. But if the player is happy to build a chunk loader, they are also better to use a cart MIS.
What if I build it in 2 chunks? my base where I can put my storage room is on the border of chunks
Good question. Most of the system is fine to back up a little, so as long as you don't spend a lot of time close to 10 chunks away, it will probably be fine. If it does get a lot of items backed up, some items may end up skipping the location they are meant to sort into. If it backs up even more (chests worth of items over an hour) the elevator will clog up and need to be unclogged by hand (e.g. items removed manually from the droppers)
Or put another way, it will break in minor and easy to fix ways.
@@elhedran and if i build 2 chunk loaders? Is that a solution?
@@bencekiss2341 if you are going to build a chunk loader, there are better designs out there. Also one chunk loader will fully load 9 chunks, and load chunks enough for this design over 25 (5x5) chunks. But if you are going to add a chunk loader it's enough to have one and to trigger it from the signal changes on the elevators.
Any idea to make stage 1 work in bedrock?
No, sorry.
Got it working on bedrock. Need an extra observer for each dropper slice. The observer that is facing the note block (in the Java edition) needs to be facing the redstone on the glass at the end behind the two noteblocks, and then add another observer between the observer you added and the one pointing to the dropper. So the top layer would be: Observer face down (at the redstone), observer pointing in, another observer pointing in, dopper pointing in, dropper pointing up at the storage barrel.
Looking at 1:09 when describing this. Sorry it's confusing :/
Getting anything that is designed for java, on bedrock is very impressive. I need to try this.
Unfortunately this didn't work for me - or at least not consistently for sorting a lot of items. It is possible I misunderstood @xsublight's approach though. I found that with a full stack of items in the input, it would get about half of the items into the right chest. This makes sense given within a game tick, block update order is random in bedrock - and this design relies on the item moving into the second top dropper, and then that dropper firing, and then the hopper below it being updated, all in a single game tick. In java it is pretty easy to manipulate the block update order. However that doesn't mean it can't be made to work on bedrock - but I very much expect that locking the hopper will be part of the strategy.
💞Wow💗💗💙💗💗💗💗💗
great system! I'm definitely trying it soon!
Beautiful execution! the simplicity is mind blowing. I was in the middle of making my own sorting system based on other people’s designs when this design showed up and the only reason I haven’t torn the old one down and built this one is that my sorting room is on the border of two chunks. Well done sir!
I've updated the world download and schematics to include a non-stackable items sorter in the last silo slice before the push-based multi-item-sorter. Super simple, although I may not have found it without taking some inspiration from @Diche_little and a pre sorter design he shared with me. I'll look to doing an update video soon.
this is dank keep it up i always hated the minecart noises thank you
Is this how the mail system works on the Hermitcraft season 10 server?
No, Tango and Etho use a set of chunk loaders in the nether activated by the minecart. It's more complex, but ensures the mail gets there sooner (the design in the video would wait until normal Hermit activity loaded the chunks). There is a chunk loading approach on my channel, but still isn't the same as on HermitCraft. Still a little slower in my channel as I wait for the cart to be allowed back through the portal, Etho and Tango break and dispense the cart to reset the timer.
The approach on HermitCraft is better.
Meanwhile me with 300 allays
A bucket of water would break the shulker emptier, but that is why there is a filter at the top of the elevator. This design does still need better pre filtering. Non stackable items should be separated out before the push based multi item sorters along the bottom, but I haven't worked out a good solution for that yet.
Maizuma Games has a really tiny presorter that separates nonstackables and shulker boxes from sortable that might be fairly simple to integrate. Excellent work on your ‘normal player’ sorting system! I know what I’ll be building in the future!
@@gules3971 I think I know the one you mean. Not quite hopper speed when sorting unstackables but hopper speed for stackables. I've got an idea for a hopper speed separator, but will see whether Miazuma's fits better. An advantage of the Miazuma design is the shulker separator can be swapped for a chiselled bookshelf or brewing stand given shulkers are already separated in system 13.
Yes, I think the Maizuma one is the one to go with, only with a chisled bookshelf instead of a shulker (so last silo is unstackable, and second last column is books, or potions if using a brewing stand). The fact it isn't quite hopper speed when dealing with unstackables shouldn't matter, would need something like 200 unstackable items in a row (or possibly more) in order to get it to back up across the entire silo sorter before it impacted the dropper elevator. Not sure who would rock up with an inventory of 200 unstackable items and expect to put it in a sorter. I'll think about doing an "optional extra" video some time - but almost certainly going to use it in the one on my survival world
If Mojang ever allows us to fill and empty cauldrons from dispensors, it'll be the start of infinite power.
