    This is really interesting. You're the only person who said that they are skipping for regular force members not reserve forces. Personally I don't understand why they are doing it for some occupations and not others. If the Armed forces want more people to join, then they should not limit people with just degrees under their belt. I make more with my job then I get paid as a REG member. People come from various backgrounds and skills. Some people are faster some are slower than others. Good luck getting people to join. I won't be one them :)

    So I got a specific case of me signing a contract for serving as a NWO in return for subsidized education for ROTP, is there a way where I can switch to serving in a reserve when my contract ends, and what are the ranges of working hours that I can negotiate like from lowest hours to highest hours for the whole year?

    • @PrairieSailor
      @PrairieSailor 2 дня назад

      Yes you can transfer to the Reserve after your contract is complete. The minimum hours with the Reserve is one evening per week, usually 3 hrs. Maximum is 12 days per month. Reserve hours are highly variable depending on your unit and role. You can also do short term full time contracts with the reserve ranging from 13 days - 3 years.

    Ok, so you pass the aptitude test at a level that is acceptable for the job you want but youre a mature student and are missing some of the mandatory credits for the undergrad or bachelors program. Is the GED/CAEC accepted? Or am i required to chase those very specific highschool credits?

    • @PrairieSailor

      I’m pretty sure GED/CAEC is accepted.

    So far in my recruiting process I have found the only way to get anything done is to actually go to the recruiting office in person. Phone calls go nowhere, emails are not replied to, the online application program of the forces website is broken to the point it wouldn't even let me enter my primary phone number. If your serious about joining the only way is to get down to a recruiting office.

    Is there an age limit on the program limit...what about prior service members

    • @PrairieSailor
      @PrairieSailor 4 дня назад

      Age limits is 17-56 years of age. Prior service is not an obstacle as long as you do not have a negative release item.

    Hey! Love your channel. I am currently going through the process to serve as a reserve infanteer, with the hope of going special forces one day. I was wondering if you think reserved members have a smaller chance of making it into special forces, both for selection as well as once they pass selection? Is it a much harder road from reserves to special forces vs reg forces to special forces?

    • @PrairieSailor
      @PrairieSailor 4 дня назад

      Good question. My only basis for comparison would be the Naval Tactical Operations Group, which is not special forces, but is competitive to get in. Reserve members from my unit have been selected for NTOG, so to me it does not seem like a disadvantage.

For direct entry, is it possible to get waivers on not having the needed civilian work experience, are manageable lifestyle diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, okay? For paid education programs-is it possible to do accelerated degrees instead of a 4 year program? Is it possible to workout and gain pointers for civilians from PSP fitness facilities? What are your personal and career plans looking ahead?

    Is it difficult to find and/or maintain a serious relationship while under contract? I hope to start a family while I'm still in my 20s but stability is a crucial part of that. I'm not sure how or where the CAF stations its members as I am in the early stages of joining.

    I will be heading out shortly to begin BMQ as a reservist. I need to take my computer along for my civilian job. Is there wifi available or do i need to create a hotspot with my data?

    • @PrairieSailor
      @PrairieSailor 11 дней назад

      You will have limited access to your computer. It will be locked in civilian lockup for the majority of the time. You will likely only have access to it for a few hours on Sundays. The wifi is poor quality and you will likely need to use a personal hotspot from phone data (which is also not great with Telus). Please note this is my experience at Camp Vimy for Naval Reserve BMQ and it may be different in different locations. My best advice is to plan to not be able to do much work for your civilian employer while on BMQ.

    • @shitboxowner_86
      @shitboxowner_86 10 дней назад

      CFLRS (Quebec) also has shit wifi. So your better off using a hotspot and depending on your staff and platoon you will have 95% weekends off of free time. Although if you have a discussion with your staff there may be Lenience. although it depends on your staff memebers. Theres a lot of "proud, gatekeepers" so be aware man. Also I'm Air force EGS where i had mostly combat eng and armoured soilders. Shit was made for the Army side. Things have apparently gotten easier over time as i was BMQ 2020. And that's before all the new CANFORGES which has stopped a lot of the BS we delt with
