You are a very cool guy. I got in to watches in January 2024 after breaking a NH36A movement not knowing how to change the date. Upon trying to learn how to fix it I fell into the rabbit hole of watch collecting. Initially I bought Solar/Quartz and automatics due to hype. I had a chance to get a BERMI hand winding watch from StimpsonLondon and it changed the whole game. Whenever I hand wind it I was feeling like creating bond with the watch ( Just like the way a shardbearer would make the connection with his sword in the stormlight archieve seires) . I love the ticking sound the and sound of winding it( I put the watch near my ear when winding). It marvels me how the watch itself work. Energy stored via winding/rotating the crown slowly released onto the watch mechanism so it could run smoothly. But when the energy has been exhausted the second hand will stop. This make me remind one day my beating heart also going to be stopped and the fact that life is short. So be wholesome and enjoy life. People who wore the vintage hand winding watch is probably dead by now given most companies who made hand winding watches are now defunct . Everything is impermanent and inconstant. This makes me feel at peace. In Buddhism contemplating about impermanence is called the perception of " Anicca" impermanence and It is extremely good for mental health and peace of mind. I have 12 hand winding watches now and It will only increase as I love them. Thanks for reading. May you be well and happy.

I have explored the thought process behind the idea of the sub collection. Yes, have a main collection of warches which you wear and flip if you want. But having sub collections of watches you rarely wear but collect works for me. I have a 10 box of casaio vintage metal, a 10 box of g shocks. 6 Seikos. All aside fromm a curated 6 watch box for the watches I wear. Seems a lot but I cant part with any of the sub collection watches but rarely wear them, but its ok somehow.

In my experience, i am into fashion etc and own automatic watches very beautiful ones and take care of them as i wear them all the time , my plan ans ive been looking into it , when it comes a time where they scratch over time etc , have thr casing either replaced original or modified, same thing with the bracelets and Crystal sapphire replace ot original or modify it

"Built In Belfast" is very cool and less generic than "Swiss" or "Japan" made. The SW200 movement is a very reliable and relatively cost efficient.

Hey Bob, iI thought was interesting that you mentioned the back letters could be an S or E. I also see what could be the letters C and F? when you actually opened the watch there's letters inside of it if you stop your video on (13:05) you can see the letters what looks like an E or F with the S showing? Not sure if that means fast or slow?

I own this watch, it's a beauty. Too bad the yellow dial reference has been sold out for the past few months. In spite of this, Radia deserves more mention. Thanks for the review.

The tuna is such special and iconic watch I got the baby tuna with the penguin textured dian instead and it's fire but not perfect mine has a slightly misaligned bezel and under magnification the tip of the hour hand is slightly bent upwards otherwise it's good I got mine on the 4th of July sale on Amazon for $299 and it averages- 3 seconds a day on the wrist and that slightly beats my Hamilton.

If they made an Aqua terra with a closed caseback i would buy one

My wife bought me one for my b-day and I absolutely love it. Photos and videos do not do this design justice. In the sun light it's truly stunning. When I had the bracelet fitted to my wrist the watch tech explained how the bezel works while diving (everyone should know this is a diver first) and it was then that I appreciated the large triangle at the end of the minute hand. Initially, I too thought it was a bit much. However, underwater the diver will easily see how much time has elapsed from the start of their dive based being able to quickly locate the minute hand and the location of the bezel triangle. This is all about functionality.

it's just a bummer stowa uses display case backs, those don't belong on a tool watch in my opinion

Brilliant video which really helped me, especially the basic points such as thickness and weight at the beginning. I want a Christopher Ward but with 7 inch wrists I am going to look at the C63 in 39 or 36mm versions with extra strap options.

The auto wind on the 400 is terrible. I love the watch but 5 day is not realistic. I purchased two. One for me and one for my dad. Same issue on both and we are both very active

Hi Bob, just wanted to thank you for your breakdown, especially on the movements. I was trying to determine whether or not a local seller had a very good fake, as the rotors for the Field Khakis seems to vary quite a bit. Turns out this fella just has the H-30/H-40 designed movement and I was pulling H-10/H-21 images on google. Appreciate it!

Soo… what are some 1000 - 2000 Euro range watches *not* being Rolex or Omega copies? And ideally much more interesting looking than those, too? Is the Grande Diva by Davosa the only worthwhile mechanical watch for around 1000 Euro being just beautiful to look at, as long as you’re ok with the flood of synthetic deco stones? Is the Davosa Apnea Diver the most desirable convertible watch (from wristwatch to table clock) for its price right now? Is there an open case back alternative to the Ball Pocket Watch? What’s there to become really excited about when not having millions of Euro hoarded?

I was listening to a watch smith speak one day and he said if you want a watch that's pretty on the outside get a rolex if you want a watch that's beautiful on the inside get a hamilton.

Hmmmmm. I wonder if we're getting the whole story here. What's being described is what I'd expect after a watch took a severe knock, perhaps dropped onto a hard surface and landed on the crown. If not then the other possibility is something foreign has found it's way into the balance, in which case taking the back off and using a squeeze ball pump around that area might do the trick. Sometimes the simplest fixes are the most effective

I'm usually one to seek out "variety" for my collection. A new purchase requires something "different" in order to appeal to me. So one would THINK a variety of materials, including bronze, would catch my interest. But while Ti found a home with me, I haven't been tempted by bronze at all. I personally don't think they look that great NEW, and if they tend to start looking worse over time, or at least require some extra maintenance??....no thanks.

I prefer the patina with all bronze bracelet however if someone liked shiny bronze I think probably the easiest and cheapest as well as quickest way to remove the oxidization is with a bowl of clean water and a denture cleaning tablet . Super easy and fast and super shiny . It gets all of the nooks and crannies with no effort on your part . Yeah just screw down your crown or push it in of course set the watch in the bowl of water and plop in the tablet . All that you have to do is keep an eye on it and pull it out when the level of shine is to your liking . It'll literally be like new .

I had a Baltic bronze Aquascaphe. I never really understood the appeal until I owned one. At first I tried to keep it shiny and new with lemon juice. But eventually out of laziness I let it go. And I really enjoyed watching the slight change in the finish as time went on.
