Ishar 3: The Seven Gates of Infinity is a 1994 role-playing video game developed and published by Silmarils for Atari ST, Atari Falcon, Amiga, Apple Macintosh and DOS.
The player takes the role of Zubaran (or imports a party of characters from another game in the series), and is tasked with hunting the dragon Sith. To this end, the player must cross a series of gates that lead to different time periods. Each period, like the islands of Ishar 2, has its own climate and type of landscape.

WHy did PC not include the world music? It's pretty good!
1992 MS-DOS limitations, mostly conventional memory, but also speed. Dungeon Master PC also had music only on the start screen. Ishtar was already pushing it with ambient sounds (birds, wind etc) + sound effects. OS, mouse driver, sound drivers, and the game executable + the entire memory used to store samples, images, and for calculations couldn't exceed 640kb. If you needed more memory, you had to swap it page by page, 16k at a time, with EMS, and this still couldn't be used for the game's executable. To run music loops and sound effects you had to have interrupts hooked, or run timers - in a single thread environment. Those marvels were running on 286/386 CPUs. Just a testament to the insane programming skills of the day.

It has similar concept, but probably both things are based on different sources. The game was really cool. Probably one of the most original strategy games of all time. The only flaw people were complaining about was tedious combat system. Train battle was quite slow. The graphics and artworks were fucking epic. Maybe updated version addressing the combat system would be freaking good. Such kind of retrofuturistic strategy games need to come back. There are too many fantasy and space themed games in the genre and not many ones with some postapocalyptic ideas.

Why is this game I never played having more beautiful painted graphics than other dungeon crawlers of the era? I have played eye of the beholder, dungeon master, lands of lore, but this one background have more interesting fades/color hues, also there are background that don't seem to fit the grid gameplay at first, very arbitrary but beautiful like the mountains,. but seem to work

I've known about this games for YEARS and only now have I started playing it and honestly it's now one of my favorite rhythm games ever. I lost my mind at stage 2's mash up.

I am 15 min in this video. Two things I noticed. a) Jousting appears much easier and it looks like broken if you can so easily take all these territories like that. b) Did I miss the part where the player bought armies? Or does the game automatically buying armies for the player?

please realize that most of these gameplay videos on youtube are done by guys who are very good at the game or they are cheating with emulator and savestates, etc.
@@kangarht Why would anyone cheat on a strategy game? It didn't even cross my mind. I play strategy games since 1987, I never cheated once in a strategy game.
@@Trusteft youtube gameplay videos are like this, this is not played for fun, but for the sake of the video. if you know the game very well you can always see that they are too good, for how hard the game really is like in your case.
