Played the hell out of it on its PC version when I was like 14-15 along with my dad! But the Amiga music is FAR superior! Thank you for this longplay! ^^
Probably one of my top 3 favorite games of all time (and I played over thousands of them of many genres) and probably one of very first ones that I played as a kid (I watched it being played when I was like 5 yo). One revolutionary classic that never got to be remastered unfortunately (like HD-ed and all that), forgotten jewel I would say. Damn. I would easily pay 50$ for this game if remake was made nowadays. So many memories, such a great story, atmosphere and mechanics.
I wish someone could explain what is going on in terms of gameplay and mechanics in moments of the video... it's not clear how the game is played by just watching the video, it looks nice though
Merci pour cette longue vidéo de Transarctica, jeu sur lequel j'ai passé de nombreuses heures sans jamais réussir à le terminer. Thanks for the longplay of Transarctica, game wich I passed more hours than I should be. Greetings from France.
je ne me souviens pas de ces musiques, mis à part l'intro et le générique de fin, dans la version cd. Les versions disquettes étaient meilleurs comme pour ishar trilogy.
I forgot about "La Compagnie des glaces", so the main thing who came to my mind was the Snowpiercer comic... French people really liked trains and ecological commentary in the 1980s, isn't it?
If you didn't buy the original game with the manual, this game will be impossible to even start.......all Silmarils games except maybe Metal Mutant and Colorado suffer of this (Starblade another crazy game which was almost impossible to finish due to the complexity)
@@halthammerzeit I don't mean you cannot play it. But you cannot progress if you don't know what the goal is. It is the same case as Starblade. I played it for days, visiting many planets, but never got any clue about what to do with the plot (turns out now we found out you had to find a secret planet in the middle of the galaxy).
It has similar concept, but probably both things are based on different sources. The game was really cool. Probably one of the most original strategy games of all time. The only flaw people were complaining about was tedious combat system. Train battle was quite slow. The graphics and artworks were fucking epic. Maybe updated version addressing the combat system would be freaking good. Such kind of retrofuturistic strategy games need to come back. There are too many fantasy and space themed games in the genre and not many ones with some postapocalyptic ideas.
The film comes from "le transperceneige" ( the snowpiercer) a series of french comics...Heavily inspired by "La compagnie des glaces" ( the Ice Company) the longest single author SF series, from which that -french game is basically an adaptation.
Thank you so much for sharing without commentary! Watched my childhood friend play this on PC. Why did you only use the guy on the right to shovel coal? I like the concept and atmosphere. I like the realism. You had to be careful or your boiler would explode.
You have two types of coal, anthracite for your engine and lignite as money. With the left guy you would literally burn your money. You should only do this as a last resort if you run out of anthracite.

half of the video is loading coal since every time the time is stopped, to you almost load no coal. Sure you will save some, but you have to be loading every minute.

Games back then like this were slower for the more intelligent amongst us. It is essentially similar to Civilization or Pirates. Early 90s games are still unsurpassed in quality. People had different mindsets back then and it reflected in art and computer games design.
I never played this game don't know how did I miss this GEM looks like a lot of fun......

Great LP!
One of my favourite games, and one I still play on my Amiga :)
It was a great game.
Snowpiercer before we even had snowpiercer.
I wish we never had snowpisser
I forgot about "La Compagnie des glaces", so the main thing who came to my mind was the Snowpiercer comic...
French people really liked trains and ecological commentary in the 1980s, isn't it?
I was fascinated by this game's visuals back then
Reminds me of Frostpunk! This could definitely use a modern remake!
or a combination of both
The train must survive...
The ambiance is definitely here, but gameplay-wise it couldn't be more different XD
It's not a remake but check out Last Train Home | Gameplay Trailer from THQ Nordic from this week
One of the best game of my childhood !!! Never forget.....More than 1 k playing in 1996 y
Its too bad no one has modernized this.
Thanks for posting this, I've been looking for a LP
Masterpiece ❤ Love it. Ingame music is amazing.
Rewelacyjna gra 😍miałem amige 600 grałem pamiętam 🥰👍
The coal stoker on the right is me at work. The stoker on the left is my coworker 😂 Why am i the only one that has to work?! Lol
These days, we have a frontline manager, a workplace supervisor, a human resource manager, and a OHS inspector all in the same room

Wonder if the film snowpiercer took inspiration from this game ?
It's a french company so probably the other way around. The comic was from the 80's
