Reupload of my full Transarctica walkthrough from 2014-2015. I had previously recorded a full playthrough in German counting 30 or so episodes. These seven videos show you all the important steps you need for winning the game.
Transarctica aka Arctic Baron (1993) was one of my most important and personal projects. I could never finish it as a kid and even when the internet came around, search results for this game were almost nonexistent. Nobody seemed to know how to beat it, or maybe nobody cared given that the game is so obscure.
Be warned that there is a copy protection in the game that will spawn an unbeatable pack of wolves if you use a corrupt version. The wolves will appear either mid-game or right before the end and make it impossible to proceed.
Transarctica is based on the French dystopia "La Compagnie des glaces" and pretty much every "trains in snow" setting you've seen since then goes back to Georges-Jean Arnaud. Despite this, the original novels never got much recognition and have not been fully translated to English.
Arnaud's novels and the game remain relevant as our real world also faces the questions of climate change, greenhouse effect, and resource conservation. I mean hey, we could always nuke the moon and drive around in armored trains with giant machine guns if all else fails.

Thanks for putting this up! Silmarils made interesting but completely incomprehensible games :) I played through Maya on my own channel a while ago… both that and this are open-world simulators from before the time we really knew how to make open world games, dumping you into the world and then just expecting you to get on with it. It’s great to have you explaining what’s happening, und dein Englisch ist sehr gut verstanden :)
Just for accuracy (cause it's naggin me ;)
Anthracite is a "black coal" - the better one . It burns at higher temperatures,
so you normally need less of it and you need it for certain smelting and forging operations that require high temperatures.
Lignite is actually the "brown coal" - the worse one. It provides less heat and I think produces more waste.
Why they use the worse coal as currency in this game, I don't know.
Maybe there is a piece of information in there somewhere that explains it ? :)
And the other fireman for lignite is in the game so you can actually use lignite-money if you run out of anthracite-fuel of course.

Consider this analogy.When you want to make your home warm using some oil burning fireplace, you don't go out and buy the most expensive jet fuel. No, you buy the cheapest fuel available. In the game, you don't need special, high value train fuel to make your home and porrage warm. Simple lignite will do the trick.
Sorry about the sound mixing, it gets better around part 3 or 4.
Transarctica is ancestor The Frostpunk, I hope one day make it remake, The game musics is beautiful.

Found You again. A comment as You suggested in "About". Where is Ethan Carter, Ryan, Soma, Dune? These are the ones I recall. First time I also found You through Transarctica (Company of Ice, yours French Book translation, as I remember). Thanks to that I saw other games mentioned above, and ones that I do not recall. Good channel that for some reason is not as popular as it should be, oh well.
