That ending caught me completely off guard. It was one of those scares that shut down my nerve system completely for 2 seconds.
I never knew this game existed until today. what a strange game....
I just remembered the feeling of playing a videogame where you have no fucking clue what you're doing, it was in more than one of the old games.
It's because every game now has a 2 hour forced tutorial.
OH MY GOODNESS!! Thank you for posting this. Finally after 15 years I can see how the game is supposed to be played out! Finally I have some closure! The relief... I can now die happy *raises gun to head*
Did the designers really think it was necessary to give the bee that many hitpoints?
i think it was a wasp
this was one of those games that disturbed me to the point I couldn’t even eat for 4 days straight. A weird game, indeed.
Thanks for the upload! The death animations are really unimaginative - to be honest, I'm even surprised that they didn't use this "the protagonist's head gets bigger and explodes" animation in the scene with an eel.
Oh my god, so this game DID exist! For the longest time I thought I imagined it... then I googled "amiga game giant blender" and ended up here.
10 years later, but it was a candy floss / cotton candy machine, not a giant blender. You get the candy floss stuck to you, then when the stick comes down a second time you can jump on it to escape. That's why the next scene is at a fairground.
@@sparxies Oh wow... a decade-old reply! That's really something lol. I honestly was wondering whether I imagined this game or not but I had no idea what it was called or what the sequence was. But hey, these keywords worked I guess :P
@@aquana Time flies! Yeah, it's not completely clear what it is, I've seen other people mention a blender too. Anyway, hope you've had a nice previous decade. See you in another 10 years!
GOOD LORD that little girl with the knife at the end scared the crap out of me! LOL
I could never get past the football girl. I remember it came with a novella that I enjoyed immensely. also, I first saw this game as an interactive phone-in section of a Saturday morning kids show called 'motormouth'. ah, memories.
the fucking lawnmover ..
this is one of those things you wonder how have you never heard about, then again most of these old amiga games have faded into obscurity
My uncle got an amiga when I was only 5 or 6. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. He was kind of a game geek and was into Shadow of the Beast, Blood Money, and this game. I thought it was as pretty cool game up until the garden level. Then I had nightmares for 10 years.
God I hate endings where you literally accomplish NOTHING.
Exactly, this game have nothing to accomplish. He fucking died by a devil women.
@@Meyohimeyoi wtf so you get through ALL THAT, which looked super frustrating to say the least, and then you die anyway because one of the doctors was a literal demon in disguise? i'd be pissed af.
@@seraphik there's a meaning behind it . Look at the face of the "demon" , the hairstyle , the knife ... its the little girl that got eaten by the baloon earlier . It means that you're still in a dream .
So yeah it must be frustrating but after a game like that there just couldnt be a "normal" ending
Technically in all games you accomplish nothing..
Remember watching Motor Mouth in the early 90's (Saturday morning TV show for kids in the UK) and this game was played by kids who rang in and (apparently) used their touch tone telephones to move the character. Surprised now they even showed this!
Still haunting my dreams today... damn hard. Wished I could a got further, think the football girl was the end.. :-) But great Idea!
The most weird thing on that game was the latency of the controler! xD
I had this game and it came with a book with a backstory which was used for a security code aswell. The game is almost impossibly difficult, I wonder how many times this player had to reload state!
So all that work and memorization. Blood and guts. Pain and tears. Novellas and guides. For the ending. And that's the ending. WHAT A REWARD.
Also, how in the ASS would anyone know to pick up the eel and use it as a weapon?!
anyone else besides me from the UK remember this game being featured on the saturday morning show "motormouth" as a phone in feature where as i remember callers controlled the character using a touch tone phone as i remember to kill the bosses to win prizes, ahhh memories
Anyone else from the UK remember a Saturday morning show called Motormouth? They used to play this over the phone!:D Crazy times!
I remember seeing this shown at the computer show in London and being very impressed with what they had going on with the great graphics and animations but also the game itself from a design point . It possibly doesn't seem all that great to some now but it really was bloody impressive to behold back then and personally I think it holds up very well visually. Tricky game but by the player you wouldn't think so. Great playthrough
My cousin played this game when I was around 10 years old.. good to see it on here.
Very neat idea but terrible controls kill the fun!
yes, this game was a frustrating trial and error. I gave up pretty fast.
and the end,...this epic epoch was with a lot of imagination in the computer games...
If I played this as a kid i would've had nightmares from the death scenes. Also, it's bullshit how much you have to hit that hornet with the eel. I bet people got stuck in that part because they didn't think that was the way to get past him and stopped.
The phrase "like nothing you've ever played before" is so over-used; this game actually deserves it though.
THanks, Ashens.
Je suis venus pour savoir la fin après la video de jdg mdrr
They should do a really cool PC version of this with today's best graphics. Would be so good. Love the weird shit in the desert. Longwood gardens hedge topiary style ( Real place you know ) The topiary of Longwood gardens that is.
Memories... It was my cousin's Amiga and we tried so hard to succeed but no chance. Also never got past the girl and of course we didn't even steal the bee's bowl. Terrible controls but the surreal setting and the sounds were unique!!
Herman Serrano: the SALVADOR DALÍ of video game graphics!
I dont know who was craziest: The game producers or the makers. But both of them were COMPLETELY NUTS!
Wow, how... literal. :p And I'm guessing this was before other old stuff like Yume Nikki or LSD: Dream Emulator were even a thing. :?
It could be said that this game is one of the pioneers in the genre of Surrealism, even more so for two important things: 1. Because it came out before Mother 1/Mother: Beggins (Where you would see a lot of the theme of surrealism); and 2. Because Herman Serrano is a true artist of Surrealism, and this helped the game to have personality, and that after this game, the focus on the world of dreams would be a most striking theme to take up again in a videogame.
So, in the end, you STILL die. My dreams never end like that; I'm always triumpantly alive after defeating the monster(s).
@nephildevil ok im just saying respect the work it took to make that game. the mirror effects of the house of mirrors alone were top of the line hard to program stuff, and back then you didnt have as many people working on a project like this as you do now.
I read about this game, it was 14-15 years ago. I'm kinda happy I haven't played it back then, my mind is now twisted enough by playing Gobliins 2 when I was a kid.
this reminds me of lsd dream emulator
I remember this game was from a Saturday morning children's programme. You had to give the gamer instructions over the phone for children at home to watch!
That programme was called Motormouth. They basically used parts of this game for their phone-in quiz.
@@Rocket1377 Thanks!
Haha, love this, tanks a lot ! I remember I once defeated that girl but didn't know what to do next (didnt know you could move into those bushes).
Those Game designers, Not programmers or graghic artists, are jerks. I would've given up after hitting that bee with the EEL for the 20th time! Thanks for posting
woo hoo I'm really excited for this game it's fun to play it
I had this game and I never finished it. So hard!
Wish there were videos online of when this game was on the TV show "Motormouth", and players would shout over the phone line for some one in the studio to push the right button/ direction.
Anyone remember that ?, ive heard the game was another version that had extra scenes in it.
God you make this game look easy. I remember my mom used to play it all the time as a kid and it was super difficult.
Also can anybody tell me the name of the music at the carnival? I can never remember what it's called.
Sobre las Olas (Over the Waves) by Juventino Rosas
Hellwyck Thank you! And thank you for giving me a real answer instead of that annoying Sandstorm meme :)
I have no idea what that is, I find internet memes to be annoying.
(Mario Lanza) - The Loveliest Night of the Year
this is a very kick ass idea, dreams are incredibly trippy, hell I dreamt once I was pregnant and it was a plot to sneak in a Indian baby who's mom was using me for my pizza discount where I worked, this random craziness that dreams create would be the great subject for a modern FPS or any genre really, I'm surprised no ones done it yet.
SMILEY MAN
This game was very good for a DOS game in October 1989. VGA and Roland MT-32 sound.
@KirbyY15 The garden music is a midi rendering of Women's Institute classic 'In An English Countery Garden', isn't it?
how much time did you play it, until you learn the game ?
I remember we played this on DOS for days, but only think we did is to get the ball from the girl in the garden
I remember playing this game when i was a little kid. I would get so scared when the lawnmower came as I was trying to clear the rosebush.
memories..so difficult game and...weird!!i will enjoy watching the video until the end,was so difficult and i was kid...
Was such a weird game... Hard and upsetting at the same time :-)
I loved the clown in the beginning... such a lovely song...
Yep,well the guy was supposedly on the operating table and while he was sleeping he had these "weird dreams",thereby the name of the game. The movie "Jacob's ladder" has a similar story.
I remember when this first came out, it was used as the basis for a phone-in quiz on a Saturday Morning Kids TV Show (Possibly Motormouth with Neil Buchanan)!
Shivers down the spine at the ending!
you gotta love those games. made at times where people still had ideas and originality. you wont find anything like this nowdays, just pixel shaders, ak47 and bump mapping..
WHAT
A
ENDING
...this is one of the best game ever made due to his unreplicable atmosphere...
for some reason i was under the impression this game was unbeatable. i had it for atari st.
I'll post the Game's Plot, from Wikipedia:
The background story is told by the novella. Steve is in love with his attractive fellow coworker Emily. Unbeknownst to Steve, Emily is possessed by a daemon named Zelloripus which was banished to Earth, stripped of most of his powers, and trapped into a female human due to crimes he did to other daemons, which are never specified.
omg..how i loved this game first on C64 and then amiga....
never got any far though...so nice to see the ending here....
This game was so frekkn hard
When I get to the green desert area the ball doesn't come down when I press B. Is there something that I'm missing here?
Well of course you need the flying fish to combat the stone Frog men
Amiga music was just awesome :)
Steve's psychiatrist does not understand how the dreams have been affected, and neither does Steve. He refers him to a neurosurgeon. After dramatically declined health, Steve undertakes brain surgery in an attempt to stop the dreams. Under an anaesthetic, he slips into one more, possibly his last, dream.
I'm not the first to say this (UnrealPerson beat me to it), but yeah, similar to Silent Hill. I'd definitely buy a remake on a next-gen console!!!
And thank you for posting the vid. It was fucking awesome!
Remember when i was about 5-6 years old when this game used to give me nightmares... Most fucked up game ever .
A game worthy of its title.
What happens if you don't actually get all those weird orbs that you need at the end?
I tried playing this game but I had no idea what to do in the scenes. For example I didn't know you could pick up the meat with your body and serve it for the bee in the next scene. You can go to the next scene without picking up the meat... This game is crazy hard or then people had more patience with these games back in the day.. I wonder how can anyone figure these things out on their own??
it's candy floss sugar, not meat
I remember watching this very same video when I was like eight or nine, very traumatic lmao.
the wonderful game,full of creativity
I would've lost patience with that bloody wasp long before killing it. And god damn, this needs a film adap.
@MightyGrape Amen! This would make one hell of a movie. Better yet, I wonder how it'd look as an anime movie--anime effects would make an already surreal game based movie even cooler!
Thank you!! 15 years back I never thought I would see the ending of this creepy game.
I remember I found it in a supermarket's basket next to the meat section and played it on my IBM XT 5'14 disk and CGA screen :)
Funny that more than 5 people have look for it on the internet, never thought so either...
Thank you for sharing this.
lol i have a huge phobia of wasps yet watching this fascinates me
loved this game played it allot back in 1991-2 on the Atari ST
This game is so disturbing and creepy as hell!!!
Merci jdg.
Thank you SO Much. I'm terrible at this game and always wanted to see how to win!
The definitive proof that you _can_ in fact make video games while tripping balls on magic mushrooms :)
Every Day I used to get Dreams,? Some good, Some bad.
I researched a lot on Dreams and finally understood that
"Dreams are UN-fullfilled aims and activities of the day life"
When I searched in Apple Appstore for Dreams, You know what?
I got an app called "dreamed" by Lokesh Hanumappa
This is really cool app which records the dreams and then converts? each dream into a goal which is tracked for completion. This is what I wanted and this is really cool way of maximizing the hints given Dreams.
This is one of the strangest things I have ever seen.
I'd just like to say thanks to the original poster for playing and uploading this. Took me way back.. Now I feel like the character JR Hartley in the old Yellow Pages Adverts. We weren't on drugs when we came up with the concept, just very very drunk. It started with Herman saying "Wouldn't it be amazing if you could just climb inside your own head, when you're ill, and fix it" .Before I knew where I was, I'd filled 5 sides of A4. :) TK
that ending gave me goosebumps X_X
This should be on psn xbox live and wii ware, this looks great!!!
was that just now a giant...cotton candy...maker?
holy mother of christ.
MAN! :D
i boggled on the first seconds when this picture appeared ^^'
I loved it. I played it as a kid. Never realized just how crazy and trippy it was untill watching it now.
Took me about 3754 tries over about 2 years to get to the second bee fight, soooooooooo much trial and error, havnt played this game in over 20 years. I never thought I beat it, but watching the brain fight, I remember getting my fish knocked out of my hand ALOT, so maybe I did beat it once or twice. Im gonna find my old copy ( should still be in its box packed away in the storage closet) and give it another go.
Goddamn. You fucking rule. I could NEVER figure out what the hell to do in this game.
kinda liked this game, but was never able 2 solve it as a kid
I had nightmares after playing this game, when I was like 8-10, creepy creepy.
Please somebody tell me whats the name of the song on fairground(with the bee) in 1:33?
I played this game a long time ago and I've been going crazy to remember the name, thanks so much for providing this vid ^_^
This game gave me weird dreams. Theres definitely something artistic about this game. Acid trip weirdness went into the production of this one I bet!
I just used to watch my old man struggle with this game cos it was too hard for me, I was only about 6 years old haha! Although nothing is as hard as Another World, as far as I can remember! We could never get to the keyboard level!
Thanks for these amazing videos. I mean what other game, has a little girl being eaten alive by a football! CLASS
Beautiful game, i love this graphics.
Such a beautiful game with an awesome ending.

YES! Finally I get to see this ending.
Nice twist by showing the death-scenes at the end.
