- Apidya (Amiga) All Bosses (No Damage, Hard). Apidya is a pretty good shoot 'em up on Amiga (old computer). The setting of the game is very interesting, in two words: it's a Bug's Life. :) You control a bee and you have to destroy other insects like Caterpillar, Mantis, etc. But some bosses have a very grotesque design: a rotting rat (!), giant fish and a pretty creepy girl's doll / teddy bear. Anyway see it for yourself and enjoy this boss run. Boss list:

The worms bursting out of the rat corpse in the sewer is the rawest boss I’ve seen yet

This one brought a real breath of fresh air into a spaceship-dominated genre. The creepiest and therefore best bosses are the pike and the rag doll in my opinion. In fact, the doll is in itself creepier than the fish. But the pike wins in terms of creepiness because of its size, erratic movements and, of course, the music.
This makes me sad because I'm seeing this without sound
Last I checked,the maggots were the creepiest

3:51 I gotta imagine Pike would drive anyone nuts if you dont have much patience. It dangerously closes you into a corner for extended periods of time and you gotta rotate all the way around it just to get back to its weak point.
Its basically the games „big ship“ stage ala Stage 3 from R-type

Looked it up, and I have to say: That's pretty disgusting. But I like it when the developers back in the day went totally crazy with the level design.

I believe it was inspired by R-Type - Level 3 which also was trial and error as you fight a giant scrolling spaceship.

Okay, what the cheese with that ending.
There was literally no indication that this was a sword and sorcery fantasy game, then in the final cutscene "Wait, the Bee was actually a knight, and he kills an evil wizard to get a potion for his wife?" But there was modern stuff in it. Like robots and the Pepsi can and who would build a cyborg clam? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!

This game has a story in the same way that fighting games have stories. Yes, they're there, but... yeah. What you see is what you get. Just embrace the insanity.
The reason is that the devs are weaboos, essentially.
The game is German yet has a Japanese title screen and faux-anime art style. And most Japanese shumps have the same schtick of having a backstory very loosely related to the gameplay.

The games theme is all over the place. And the doll is nightmare fuel
So is the heart mutant.
Its actually kinda sad to me that this doll was thrown away and treated like garbage for an unexplained reason and it really isnt it's fault for looking scary in the end. But still this is just my opinion on that boss
Yeah, I kinda wish she, and the other bosses, had an in-game lore or something... Otherwise the game feels a bit underwhelming

Wow, talk about some serious WTF factor...and I love it...dat rat boss! At least the designers of this game gave us something new in the side scrolling shooter department. I'd have liked to see a full sized human enemy as the last boss tho, that bee was a bit anticlimactic. Nice gameplay btw.
グラフィックの気持ち悪さ、ボスの当り判定の変な部分、部分的に爆発するカマキリ、聴かせる音楽、ものすごくバランスの悪いゲーム。
でも昔のレゲーはこんな雰囲気もあった、素晴らしい！

The team who make this is R-TYPE big fans, the Japan shooting game which contains grotesque alien creatures as enemies.
I think that floating heart thingy in the 4th stage was heavily inspired by a boss from Gynoug, which also had some pretty freaky bosses for a shmup.

This is the coolest Amiga shooter I've ever seen!
Total headcannon, but my story on the Forgotten Doll boss is that she was once a little girl's cherished toy, and enjoyed a life of games, picnics, tea parties and bedtime snuggles, that little girl loved her and the doll loved her back.
But children being children, eventually the girl lost interest in the doll and discarded her into a river, where she eventually ended up in the sewer. Now abandoned and alone in the darkness, rotting in cold, stinking filth with only loss, betrayal and hatred to keep her company, that doll lies in wait for a victim to take it's pain out on.
You can hear that sadness in the music...
I got a boss run suggestion for you: Gynoug. It's got some really disturbing bosses that look amazing. Eerily enough, the boss known as Orrpus bears an uncanny resemblance to the Heart Mutant from this video.

Nothing beats Chris Hülsbeck's Turrican 1+2 OST
It would have been easy to make more "normal" stages, especially with some of the assets in the last level such as the Giant Wasp and the Bat. The Wasp could have been in a tree-tops level and the Bat could have been in a cave or cavern level. I think the people who made this game just put a game together with whatever sprites they all ready had at their disposal.
Those snails on that bass were just jamming to the music

The drugs in Frankfurt must be really great. This Frankfurt-based studio, whose Japanese name, depending on the kanji, means either silkworm (蚕子) or oceanic trench (海溝), is now defunct but made one heck of a horizontal shoot 'em up while obviously on a wild acid trip.
For an Amiga game,this is pretty good.
The soundtrack is awesome, like a progressive stuff.

Pike boss is the creepiest IMO due to his ginormous size (takes up the entire damn screen) and the fact that the battle takes place in dark underwater depths.
