the river Deveron is a spate river, its source being the Allt Deveron and the Blackwater. They meet at Dalriach Pot, just to the north of Cabrach. The catchment area for these two rivers and the Deveron is circa 250 square kilometers or 96 square miles. Go on internet maps and join all the hill tops together encircling the two rivers and the Deveron down to the bridge just west of Huntly. A quick calculation assuming 1/2 inch of rain using USGS site results in 111,520,305 cubic feet of water or 3.16 million cubic meters of water flowing down the river....just with 1/2 inch of rain. No amount of dredging is going to stop this river from flooding its natural floodplain. the river valley was formed as the last ice melted 10000 years ago. As our planet continues to warm (the causes of which are debatable....man made or natural causes?) its going to get wetter. Farming practices will inevitably have to change and adapt to these conditions. As they say the only thing that is constant ....is change. water.usgs.gov/edu/activity-howmuchrain.php

Great video again Nichola I had the same problem with my powerwasher with the pull cord breaking so last year I bought a new Honda with a battery and ignition and now I just have to turn the key.
