    Why are longer hook lengths better because the hook will be further away from the feed or am I looking at it all wrong?

    • @winningwaysbasics
      @winningwaysbasics 2 дня назад

      A lot of fish you will catch on the drop, with maggots falling through the water - so longer hooklengths will help with this 💪🏻

    How do you store your expanders during the day once you have opened the plastic bag they were stored in overnight?

    • @winningwaysbasics
      @winningwaysbasics 2 дня назад

      Just keep them in the bag, stick a small amount in your bait box of water and replace them every so often

  • @gordonblack7646
    @gordonblack7646 4 дня назад

    I'm lucky with my chinese take aways in that I get extra sources in little baby plastic pots with really good sealing lids. I use those, I fill a couple of pots the night before, pop some water in, lid on, in the fridge and the next day, perfect expanders and then I freeze what I don't use. I aad any extra smells to the pellets just before the water goes in.

  • @stewartmercer19
    @stewartmercer19 4 дня назад

    Sod the man made puddles...bollocks to that. But. I had to put some input in. The maggot feeder on proper waters like the Soar, Trent, Nene, Derwent, Erewash, upper Severn. is top bollocks that's my area of 60 mins from home. can even get up Sheffield and go on the Dove... But. it needs some patience. These are places where you need to be as soon as the bloody weather changes and we get some sun and wind.. Trout, Grayling, Bream ( fighter harder than puddle carp), Chub! Barbel!!! . Get on the Rivers. Obviously listen to Andy!!!! His timings are cool. You have to keep the bait going in. I'll batter him on a river though.... and Jamie!!....pfff. No POLES... as in Fishing gear, not... And, it's about having fun, but, working out stuff, I can't stand 90% of the stuff you show, but you Andy and Jamie are really, really excellent stuff, It's stupid but... yeah its...yeah, can't explain. It'll come one day, catch a fish on a bamboo rod, some dodgy hessian string and a safety pin Like Robinson crusoe or having to survive from a 1975 survival kit, it will...... it'll come... stupid as f*ck. but they'll have a go. And it's enjoyable, pathetic rubbish...yet...The pair of them are like 'Top gear'..complete and utter bollocks in their little competitions, nothing like what they offer will be remotely involved with anything regarding the real World. But, just in case. These two clowns will make sure.... Love ya both.

  • @dannyboy7715
    @dannyboy7715 5 дней назад

    Do you rekon most of the maggots leave the feeder by water pressure when feeder hits the water and falls through the water column?

    • @winningwaysbasics
      @winningwaysbasics 5 дней назад

      Bit of both, you will get some falling through the water column which is why the longer hooklength can be really good.

    • @pleasantville4529
      @pleasantville4529 3 дня назад

      You can control (to an extent), the amount of maggots that leave the feeder before it reaches the bottom, by packing the feeder. This prevents the maggots from escaping too quickly. By varying the amount you put in, you can control how quickly they release.

But, there's been tremendous advice from the members, so, following your video, it's given me confidence for the commencement of our matches in 2025. Cheers buddy.

      Not so much on open matches, but most clubs you get a real mix. Some will even have different leagues within the club for newer and more experienced anglers. So if you can find a friendly local club then go for it and see how you get on. Can always upgrade kit as you get into it and to suit the venues you are fishing.

    Thats spot on. I fished club matches on our local canal in runcorn, and they were every weekend, with a midweek open. i fished every club match and started creaping up the page until i started framing, then i entered the 400 peg opens on the canal and the difference was unbelievable. Top anglers from all over the region showed up........... and i started beating them with my local knowledge............. but that was on my own stomping ground. It gave me the confidence that i was a good angler. i progressed to rivers and fished nationals, winning div 2 national section medals twice. but starting at clubs with a 10 pegger was the base for my knowledge.
