Pumpkins look great. Would you please show the main vine leading up to the stem of the fruit? Thanks
That Rodebaugh fruit is a beautiful beast. Looking good Doc. What Wolf seed created that monster?
Thank you. Andy's 2365
Looking good Doc! Keep them healthy and packing on the pounds!
Your Rodebaugh fruit has fat rolls 😄...love it!
You're a great grower to me. Alot of information comes from your videos like mike and Colorado grower. But was that a banquet? I got to know. 😅
Of course.... Taste of the Rockies in Appalachia.
You have some dandy’s in there doc. Impressive
Nice video ! Nice Kins I'm jelly 😅
Do you know if any of the scale growers are recording their weight data to some program so that we can see an accurate growth curve? I know people were talking about that on Chad New's livestreams. Happy to see everything is going well Doc. Im interested to see what happens with the field pumpkins.
Nick there has been some talk amongst a few scale growers to make this happen. It'll happen.... just a matter of time.
Looking so good. Thanks for sharing, heck of an accomplishment so far!
Your pumpkins look wonderful! ❤
Beautiful pumpkin and melon.
Amazing grow sir, keep those babies rolling💪🏽
Those are looking good!
Great video boy it looks like a high wind would truly destroy that thing now that it's grown so high
Thank you. Yeah weather is my #1 worry
Absolutely great video a lot of people will benefit from this.
94 pounds! lol
Please tell me how do I stop all the tershearies (sp)? I am running around cutting them out like mad!
Really learn a lot from your videos, you comment about roots popping out..how wet do you keep ground?
Good question. I try to stay 1-2% below saturation. So if my probe shows saturation at 30% I then shoot for 29-28%.
@@docrodebaugh thank you . I bought a probe this year, same as Nick K has, he ran at 55 last year... it has done nothing but rain here in WI..had 5 dry days and my probe is at 57..so i have to contemplate watering for 1st time this year and at what level i am shooting for.
@@ThePumpkinClub, Wow that is incredible. Yeah one of my Wisco buddies has had his wettest season ever so far.
Great information Doc! Thanks
Thank you
This is extremely valuable stuff. Thank you doc.
Thank you Nick. I hope it helps folks to know what I check and how I think.
Great video Doc! I made a list :)
Thank you Steve
I did in fact learn some things, thanks Doc 👍🏼
Thank you. Keep doing the solid work. I dig your channel.
Great video!
Thank you
Don't lose your scissors under that Pumpkin you won't find them till October
lol, that's right!
Nice job Doc
How much work is a watermelon? Looks like an awesome side project!
I'm still learning Nick, but so far it seems to be a fun grow.
Side project? Lol. It seems like a primary obsession 😂
How are you pruning your 150 sqft plant?
Beautiful! I tell you what...I think you might be spying on my patch cuz each of your last 3 videos you've mentioned something that makes me say hey that's why my plant looks like that (today was mutated secondaries)...thanks for the help you don't even know you're giving me :)
Hello Doc ... great videos. I have learned a lot from them. Question: How long do you wait usually after pollination before you take the peddles off the female?
I remove most of the petals off 24hrs after pollination. The firmly attached area next to fruit is allowed to stay for another 3-4 days. It eventually softens up and comes off with ease.
@@docrodebaugh Thank you sir.
I agree non sense... every afternoon I say that I might actually use other more New York language :)
Looking great!
What is green board ? I used to drywall houses in the 90s green board was a term used to describe Drywall that was moisture resistant in the bathroom. But what are you calling Green board? It can't be Drywall.
Good ear Mark. No, not gypsum green board. 1" foam insulation board. The same stuff a lot of folks use to top their pallets for fruit transport.
@@docrodebaugh OK so not truly a green board just a foam board OK nice yes I still have one good ear left and I think one good 👁️? 😂
Looking great down there sir
Trying to catch my buddy in Massachusetts.
Dang looking good. I got one pollinated over the weekend, but often my first one doesn’t take. Went firm 35 to 90 in three days. More fruit to come but I might be behind haha
Getting fruit to set in the heat is tough. Hope she takes for you.
dude you are killing it this year. big things my friend
Thank you for the kind words. Lots of season left; have to keep my eye on the prize.
Team doc!!! I also have a stem that looks similar. Almost like a hole not a split. Whats your game plan on doctoring up that stem?😂
Good question. When the stem splits early in the fruits life I just keep the area dry and let them scar over naturally without any direct intervention.
@@docrodebaugh thanks.just let her ride then.. I wasn’t sure what to do I been cleaning with alcohol and throwing sulfur fungicide on it lol
Interesting how you are having the driest June, but up here in Wisconsin, we have one of the wettest May/June that I can remember. If you haven’t watched my recent updates, I am basically trying to grow one of my pumpkins in a swamp at this point.
I've been following the Turner grow. Your ground is beyond saturation sir. You could run an airboat across that patch.
@@docrodebaugh Thanks for following along! I appreciate the humor (e.g., talking as if you are the cat) you add to your videos.
Great Video 😊🎉 I subscribed to your channel 🙏
Glad you like it. Wait until you see the the next one! Lots of changes.
@@docrodebaugh Definitely 😁 I'll be looking forward to it 🙏 Thanks Doc..
Is that a sacrificial pumpkin in the pot?
Yes , I let it bloom with reckless abandon to evaluate insect pressure.
Nice tour Doc!
Thank you sir!
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for bringing us along on your journey.
Thank you for watching. With any luck there will be some good fruit to show off at some point.
I may have missed it. How far out is the potential 150 fruit at? Thanks!
It is not out there very far.... 12' maybe.
@@docrodebaugh great! Good luck! Hopefully another 1000lber for your 150 square foot plant!
Rats nest 🪹 love it 😍 looking so dry? Why may I ask ?
Great question Bubba. I always let the patch dry just a bit just before burying to keep compaction at a minimum. Moisture sensors had me at .27 pre-water with a spike to .33 after and finally settling at .30 (my patch sweet spot)
@@docrodebaugh interesting 🧐
Love the videos keep em coming
roooof baaaanns
Doc plants look great. I hate you had that hail. But definitely looks like all 3 have set.
I think the odds are in my favor. Hail happens.
Looking good doc. Question for you. How long before you know if the pollination took place. Im Dap 8 right now and its growing slowly. Im juat worried because the day after i pollinated we had a heat spike and went from low 80s to 101 degrees
Good Question. So I take photos every day of the fruit at the same time from about the same angle and distance. Beyond that I observe the coloration, luster, and nub health. All that added together gives me a good idea of growth and health of the potential set.
Looking good!
Thank you Pete.
The "Hell hole"!😆🤣🤣 looking good buddy!
Should I let the sun on the crown of my giant? Should I cut off the vegetation near it? I have questions.
I keep my crowns covered and remove excess vegetation from the area. Airflow is everything in my grow.
@@docrodebaughhow’s your flow ? Flow matters !!
I wouldn’t sun my stump. heat equals greater chance of disease
You sure you’re not growing a bunch of Korn? 😅
