What’s your philosophy on shade cloth? I’m in NC, I’ve got a 30% shade cloth up, temps are in the 90s. I was thinking I’d keep it up until the heat backs down below 90. But it seems like you just have it up to shade new growth and you’ll take it down once the roots/leafs establish? Thanks for any insight and good luck
I use shade primary for heat sensitive foliage. Sometimes that is a genetic thing and sometimes it is do to a heavy nitrogen load. I know it helps preserve foliage but it can limit photosynthesis. So I try not to use it.
@@docrodebaugh makes sense to me thank you for responding. Most growing methods are anecdotal and I been seeing this said a lot, “pumpkins do not need 100% sunlight so you can shade it”. Correct me if I’m wrong but, yes shade it if your watering system and overall plant establishment can’t maintain itself (aka harsh wilting everyday). But the best case scenario would be a uncovered plant thriving in most weather conditions. Nitrogen bloat is another issue. Thank you again
