Every motorcycle oil which fulfills the Yamaha request API-SG / JASO MA or higher can be used in the Vmax 1700. I doubt that you find a conventional oil that has this specification! I use Castrol POWER1 RACING 4T 10W-40 or 10W-50 in my bikes which fulfills API-SN and JASO MA2.

really like your videos.I own a 2016 all original. With due all respect, I think you should ride your max with a bit more rpm, It seems the rpm in your videos are around 3000 rpm or lower, which it can be very detriment to your engine. The lowest rpm I ride is 3500-4000rpm. This way I assure all the gas has been burnt in the chamber. Ride safe Jeff

What's the best fuel tank range that you've gotten from one fill up? I hear that stock is not "too" bad, but if you flash the ecu and open it up to breathe a little more the MPG's take a dive.

I totaled a shaft drive 700 Honda Sabre. Like you said, I didn't care for the jerking but it definitely wasn't slow off the line.

I do this with all of my motorcycles and don’t like it so much doing it with the VMax, it’s just so heavy so if you happen to get past straight up and it starts going over it’s hard to catch. Think I’m going to use this block of wood method from now on. Not that I can’t do it the other way but the wood method is just safer.

It needs a 6th gear for sure. Love my vmax

You know.. you could just get down on your knees, grab the handle grip and lean the bike over to center to check the sight glass. Thays a minor gripe. Same with the break reservoir. Both can be accurately check, off the bike.

Don’t use a tender with that battery. Lithium shouldn’t need charging unless you have a parasitic draw then you may have to charge it every so often but even then I would never use a battery maintainer on any lithium battery. Full charge does nothing but shorten the life of the cells.

THERES ALWAYS DUST/DIRT ON THE BIKE ESPECIALLY IF ITS LEFT OUTSIDE COVERED, TO ELIMINATE ANY DAMAGE ON THE PAINT WHILE CLEANING THE BIKE WITH ANYTHING, I WOULD USE THE ARMORE ALL WIPES BUT FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING I WOULD BRING OUT MY GOOD SIZE AIR COMPRESSOR AND USE IT TO BLOW OFF ALL THE DUST/DIRT OFF AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. I DO AGREE NOT TO USE WATER TO CLEAN MY BIKE, BECAUSE NEXT THING YOU KNOW YOU END UP WITH A ELECTRICAL SHORT DOWN THE LINE BECAUSE WATER GOT INTO THE ELECTRICAL PLUGS , AND SITTING WATER CREATES RUST IN YOUR ELECTRICAL PLUGS. I HAD BAD EXPIERIENCE IN THE PAST WITH THAT ISSUE, AND I LEARNED FROM IT. THANX JEEF FOR SHOWING YOUR TECHNIC ON HOW YOU CLEAN YOUR BIKE.👍

How is the comfort on cruising some distance?

Love the Vmax. was about to buy one in 2019 but Started seeing the Triumph rocket 3 so I waited. Bought My rocket 3R cause it was just so Comfy and nice. Only thing I didn't like about the VMax was how those intake rams ride right in the inner knee's. was Very Uncomfortable for me . I had an 06 GXSR 1000 and got smoked by a Vmax back in like 2011. That was good buy. Enjoy it 🤘🤘

Hi Jeff, great vids about the vmax. Do you happen to know where the connector is to use for pulling codes? I've heard it's not a standard OBD II style but is a smaller 4 pin. But I'm unsure of it's location

Really nice video, Jeff. I'm a shaft drive guy too. I've been riding for over 50 years and been spoiled by the reliability of Yamahas and Hondas. My first motorcycle with a shaft drive was my Honda Shadow Aero. It's a 2006 and had always started first time, every time. It's very comfortable for my wife to ride with me. I had been ready to buy my grad bike; the Arch KRGT-1. However, I've tried to get more than a form email back from Arch through their website to no avail. So, I've decided to redefine my choice for my dream bike and am considering the Yamaha VMax. If you have the opportunity to see this comment and the time to let me know what you think about owning your VMax, I'd truly appreciate it. As we say in Cherokee, wado or thanks.

High number of gears shows that the engine is crap. The VMax would be ok even with 3 gears. Those kids who cry for 6th gear have no clue.about what gear boxes are needed for
