I went with the lowest preload settings as well. I also dropped the triple trees one inch down on the fork tubes. Big difference. I have a 31 inch inseam, but weigh 230 pounds. I now find it more of a challenge to get on the GL1800 than the VMAX due to the tour pack and backrest, so I have mount from the right side by putting my right foot on the peg, standing up on the peg and throwing my left leg over with that knee bent. You have to keep your weight centered over the bike while performing the maneuver.
I had a Honda sport tourung bike, I had the same issue, never felt comfotable not being able to have both feet firmly on the ground. It was the best handeling bike I ever owned, sold it and wound up with a Yamaha Raider. Like your channel.
Hello Jeff thank you for uploading. I have just watched The Missenden Flyer The most Powerul Cruiser Bike Ever! Sorry I cannot send you a link I am not very savvy with RUclips. He is an English guy whose content is very good.
I have this model of motorcycle and i'm not touching the ground so well. There's another issue, not only the inseam. My inseam is 32 and i have thicker upper legs, the problem for me is the seat width. Is there any lowering kit for this model?
Appreciate your Videos man, still can't find a blacked out 2nd gen even close to me. Decided to try a V Star 950 to see if cruisers are my thing at all after years of sport bike riding. The full couch status with platforms is nice but now I want a V Max even more now. I know the V Max is not a sport bike but would still like to be able to lean a little steep sometimes. Are you able to go around normal right turns say over 20MPH? Can you get all the way to the edge of that wide rear tire when leaning?
There is plenty of room to lean this bike. And the tires are made to lean really far as well. There is a curve rated at 25 MPH near my house, and I often take it at 45-50 MPH because I can lean it so easily.
Dude, at your size/weight, the thing is even MORE of a "ROCKET"!!!!! What a "BLAST"!
That is the truth!!!!
It doesn't even know I'm on it. 😎
