Minnow Chaser from Southern Minnesota - Welcome to everything fishing!
this Lake in the Heart of Minneapolis has BIG potential! | "On the Road" S1, E2
Such a cool lake to fish! Even for being on the bank and fishing during the hot muggy summer season, we still managed to find some decent largemouth hanging out not too far from the shore!
Minneapolis has an insane amount of lakes to fish and Episode 2 of "On the Road" takes us right into the heart of the big city to Bde Maka Ska lake! This lake is full of pike, musky, bass, and panfish and its size is overwhelmingly big for where it is! I can't wait to fish it again with the trusty kayak!
Thanks for watching!

Bass and Crappie are THRIVING in This lake! | "On The Road" S1, E1
Просмотров 655День назад
Kicking off a new mini series called; "On the Road" where I go around to local(ish) lakes and rivers that I either have no clue about or have very limited knowledge of and giving it a rip! This lake has come up a few times in my messages and comments over the last few months so I figured it would fit nicely in the episode 1 category! Cool lake with lots of potential! Can't imagine that lake dur...
catching Big trout in a Tiny Minnesota creek! (the driftless)
Просмотров 61721 день назад
I gotta tell ya - I never get tired of the SE Minnesota/driftless trout streams that are almost right smack dab in my back yard! The pure joy of pulling out 12 inch trout from a tiny creek with light tackle is a feeling I hope everyone has a chance to experience! It’s fun going after bass and pike, but every so often I’ll get the itch to grab a rod and reel and head out for the next Brown, Broo...
I Found an Abandoned quarry Lake FULL of hungry Bass! (rat lure gets demolished)

Well gosh dangit folks... I guess this is why its always important to be ready for an adventure and trying new spots! I had seen this spot on Google Maps initially and after doing some quick research to make sure it was a public area, I made the trip and boy oh boy was that freakin' insane! It got to the point where every cast I was getting some kind of a blow up on the mouse lure! Awesome bait...
Unbelievable flooding Hits Southeast Minnesota... (2024 Summer Floods)

Waking up and looking out the window at nothing but water was something i'll never forget - what an absolutely crazy last few days! This flooding across the midwest has been a wild ride but I'm glad its finally starting to get back to a halfway "normal" state. Luckily I was able to sneak away and hammer some bass with my ole' man at one of my favorite small lakes - the Megabass Vision 110 Jr wa...
I fished the Mississippi Backwaters at NIGHT while Battling heavy Winds! (kinda failed?)
Просмотров 397Месяц назад
Well we didn't technically fail as we still managed to get some largemouth bass and pike in the boat, but wheeeeewwwweeee was it a brutal day/night out there in the abyss! I really believe it - had the wind not been a raging beast the entire evening/night, I think we would have absolutely crushed it out there after the sun disappeared! The good news is now I kind of know what to expect out ther...
this Grass-filled Lake was FULL of hungry Bass! (frog fishing)
Просмотров 310Месяц назад
The topwater fishing has arrived here in the upper midwest and BOY does it feel freakin' good! Between the frog bite and the weedless senko, it was game ON from the start! Although i'm a bit rusty around the edges on the frog fishing, we still managed to pull in a few chunky largemouth from the slop! Being out today set the tone for the next few months of topwater fishing and I couldn't be more...

Nice! I live in MN and I love fishing
Question: Do you need a "Trout stamp" to keep trout, even though it's not a registered trout stream??...
Yep you need a trout stamp regardless if you keep or not. Just to fish for them requires one! Cheers!
ruclips.net/video/ZAmwiio_WE0/видео.htmlsi=6lS1omG0CHMz9DtR I gave you a shoutout at the end
Very nice lo
Thanks for watching!
I picked up a jerk bait just like yours and I’m gonna try to catch some fish on it!
Which one did you buy?
@@LoOutdoors idk the brand was a rapala
It was a different color though
@@Bait_Blitzawesome! Good luck hope you smoke em!!
@@LoOutdoors it was pretty similar to yours. I’m gonna make a RUclips video on it mentioning you
The Mississippi River in mpls to st paul will offer you all the fishing adventures you will ever need.for any species that you desire
Totally agree! I’ve got a couple mineapolis Mississippi River videos on my channel from the last couple of years… always a fun time!
Used to work at calhoun beach club.iced walleyes overnight for years there.lots of structure middle areas
That sounds epic! Hearing stories from folks like you in the comments brings a lot of light to these places I’m not super familiar with myself! That would be a blast!
another banger! always hammering em, love it! this isnt super far from me either 🤔 may have to check it out 🍻🎣
Thanks bro bro! Yeah, worth a check out!
I like how it doesn’t sink very much because watching the bass crush it is awesome
That’s a good point!!
Minneapolis chain lakes are fire! A couple weeks ago ecoli was found in bde maka saka lake. Nice fishing and stay safe!
Woah! Good to know about the E. coli! Hopefully folks watching this sees this comment before they go there to fish or swim!
There are giant muskies in there if you can find them
I’ve heard that! Sounds like a good challenge next time I’m up!
Fish the Canal between isles and Calhoun (Bde ma ska) in the spring. Big crappie spawn and once opener hits fish those canala with big baits ans you'll catch monster pikes ans bass. You might get a musky in the mix. I fished it hard this year and pull lots of 4s and 5s. Also shorefishing.
No kidding?! That’s awesome! Yeah, I need to go back and give it another go!
also, you got me saying "Thanks for playing" any time I catch a fish now. Said it after every crappie last weekend haha.. Such a windy weekend tho.
Hahahaha this is awesome! LETTSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOO!
What do you do for work brotha. I live in Plymouth, and i'm between like 5 lakes. Medicine, Bass, Schmidt, Eagle, and Fish lake. Fishing isn't as good here for me as it is in southern MN as far as action goes, but there are some beasts out there.
I’m an underwriter for my day job! Also, yeah, part of the “on the road” series is really trying to digest some of these places around us that have major potential. Some of these places are real potential gems and others are duds. Kinda cool trying to find new (to me) waters and bringing everyone else along for the ride. Southern MN is severely underrated when it comes to fishing action - no doubt about that!
Big Muskie’s can be caught and pike. But yea need to get out there. No motors or gas motors allowed but trolling motor or kayak would be good. That is in the middle of a chain. Harriot into that lake into lake of the isles
I’ve heard there are some nice sized pike in there forsure! Really truly can’t wait to get the kayak out there and do some more exploring!
👏
🤘
Lake Calhoun
You were in my backyard brotha!!!
Ahhh you kidding, eh?! I thought of you when I was up there but didn’t think I’d be able to fish between work stuff! I’ll be back up there soon - I’ll let you know when I’m planning on going up!
Grass carp are invasive in north America. They eat up to their body weight in vegetation a day. Those aren't legal to let go regardless of what water body. If a game warden seen that it wouldve been a heafty fine in the least.
🤔
Banger video🔥
Hey man thanks! Nice chatting with you yesterday!
So the U10 isn’t as stable?
I’m not sure how well the new U10 is, but I had the F10 before and it was absolutely NOTHING compared to the unlimited in terms of stability. I heard the U10 is pretty good though!
When I lived in MN, I used to fish either the cannon or the Zumba’s with my canoe. Both had shuttle concessions that would provide a 12 mile expaerience. My fishing partner Larry and I I would very frequently have 60 fish days.
Sounds like an epic time! We all need a fishing partner like Larry!
cant stop neddy!!
fantastic idea for a series brother! great vid, love to the dog as usual😊😎
Thanks for watching man! Appreciate you tuning in!
I run the Berkeley little green Perch bluegill fish bass hit em especially when spring spawn is on
Oh no kidding!? Awesome
What brand yak is that
NuCanoe unlimited
First like from me 😊😊😊
Right under the 35W bridge on the Minneapolis side is the best spot for carp and catfish. There is a picture perfect eddy current that can produce massive carp.
I’ve seen that spot! Looks absolutely killer!
Ever catch any musky below lake zumbro? There’s a video on RUclips of a guy pulling a musky out of the river in like Hammond, probably upper 30s low 40s
Not caught, but have seen and lost a couple! They are few, but big in the zumbro!
Great fish! I love trying new waters. Keep them coming!
Thanks for tuning in! Agreed! Selfishly this new series is just as much for me as it is anyone else! Ha!
I'll give this one to ya, West Jefferson Lake, locals call it Little Jeff. Just between Cleveland MN and Madison Lake, It's the Lake I fished my whole life, and just got a Hobie, and was catching monster crappies out there about 10ft deep last week. Was hitting bass on my drop shot withfatheads, and even got a 26in northern. But there is a dock there that is sand bottom, and 15ft deep at the end of it. Some of the best shore fishing ya can get, and it's even better at night cuz less ppl and.. the walleye come out to play, well.. during the spring time anyways.. and not little guys.
Woah! Hey thank for that tip! I’ll add that lake to my list!
Wuh-SEEEE-Kuh* just FYI. Happy Fishing!
Good day on the water. Glad the Bladed Jig was gettin some good ones for ya.
The legend himself! Bladed jig was forsure the DEAL out there!
Nice job man. Fun way to catch em
Thanks man! Agreed - insanely fun! Haha
Hey that’s my hometown. Always have had good luck on Clear Lake. Gave me a good laugh listening to you pronounce Waseca
Ha! Yeah I figured I was saying it weird! I’m sure it won’t be the last place I flub either 😂 - thanks for watching!!
@@LoOutdoors Just give ole "Wayzata" a go. haha. I work in the medical device industry in reimbursement here in Minneapolis and our companies street is "Wayzata Blvd". when I call these insurance companies they all pronounce it differently and mostly mumble it haha, but then again, only a Minnesotan would really know how to pronounce it.
Busy lake
Yeah, quite the number of people out there! Definitely a few awkward moments throughout the day trying to let boats pass and trying to fish sections of bank
haven't been on that lake for decades, glad you had a good time! looking forward to more on-the-road content
Thanks for swinging by! Definitely more of this stuff to come!
People get killed by trains trying to fish off that very railway bridge every year. It’s almost as dumb and sad as the clowns who insist on ice fishing 50 feet from open water and end up falling through and freezing and/or drowning.
Thanks for the statistics. Maybe someone watching this will see your comment and think twice
Nice vid man. Unfortunately when you pull the fish into the boat and they flip around on the bottom and in your equipment they are getting injured. Maybe try pulling them in and thumbing or grabbing? I see this a lot and maybe guys don’t realize the damage and injury to fish. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the note and for tuning in! I’ll be more mindful of that!
New fisher! Good to see there is some cool spots. Ive tried chesterwoods on the docks. No real luck. Hope as my experience grows ill be able to do this.
Definitely good news knowing all these spots aren’t going anywhere anytime soon either! Haha. Thanks for tuning in and feel free to comment or message me on IG/Facebook if you have any questions about the general SE MN area (including Rochester)!
Is this Root River?
Yep!
i'm got consequences for the "rest of the day"
Knock off garbage 🗑️
LOL. A 12-14 inch trout is NOT a "HUGE" trout! LMAO! I've fished almost all the trout streams in SE Minnesota. Chatfield, Spring Valley, Lewiston, Lanesboro, Rushford, Forestville State Park. Whitewater State Park and many more. My largest Brown trout was caught near Red Wing, nearly within the city limits. A nearly 25-inch German Brown in a creek smaller than the one in this video (pulled out a one hell of a "nasty" snag with my 8-foot light action rod. With the "HUGE" trout I catch, I gave up on ultralights 15 years ago). I've had 100 plus trout days easy (5 hours) on the South Fork of the South Branch of the Root River South of Lanesboro (a small Rainbow behind nearly every rock)! You want to "try" and catch a HUGE trout in that area? Try downstream below Forestville State Park. mostly West of Chatfield from the Cement bridge on the blacktopped road, below the State Park on the Root River, all the way to Chatfield! Lots of 2,3 even 4-pound German Browns, I'm sure. How good are your Night casting skills! "HUGE", LOL. German Browns are Night feeders. Also, Main Branch, Whitewater State Park (possible 5,6 even 7-pound Browns. Stocked, old, worn out "Brood Stock" from State trout hatcheries). Another very good creek empties into the Root River just above (100 meters west of, upstream of) the hi way bridge (52 S.) heading out of Chatfield. Have some kids? Try the small creek (Dueche, spelling?) that passes by the State Trout hatchery just off the hi way coming into Lanesboro from the West (you can also tour the trout hatchery while there, have a picnic, lots of shade). Tons of "put-n-take" HUGE trout up to 14 inches. LOL. Try a small "Rebel" crawfish crank bait? I've fished that area for more than 30 years and in my opinion the South Fork of the Root River South of Lanesboro is the "TOP" stream in the area! There's a 4- or 5-mile stretch that is outstanding. There's nearly 15 miles on the South Fork of the South Branch that has outstanding trout fishing! Or do you Really want to catch some nice trout? An hour South of Lanesboro (NE Iowa area). 14-22-inch trout, all day long!
I don’t know if I’ve ever been insulted and given great spots all in one comment before. Lol! I appreciate you tuning in to this one and to be totally frank, “huge” is very subjective to each person. Maybe my big is your small and your small is my big - it’s all in good fun either way and nothing should ever be taken too serious on the internet in my opinion- your spot breakdowns are super helpful though and I know anyone who checks the comments on this video will appreciate the tips! Absolutely awesome!
@@LoOutdoors Get yourself a Large paper back map book for Minnesota that's called the "Minnesota Gazette" I believe. Maybe 20 dollars at a bookstore or Walmart? It's just detailed maps of the entire State and it will REALLY improve your trout fishing. 25 years ago, me and 2 friends fished trout almost every weekend and a couple of the pages in the map book with Whitewater State Park and the area around Lanesboro were nearly "worn out" by all our usage! By using these detailed maps in the book, you can really figure out these trout streams. Instead of accessing these streams where everyone else does (overfishing) and walking forever......You can figure out where you can park on a country road. Cross a farmer's field, walk down a hill to the river right where you want to fish. Most farmers don't give a shit as long as you're NOT blocking a field drive and tearing down crops, fences and littering! Here's a tip? For rainbows ALWAYS fish the FAST water. They're in there. It might look unfishable, but those Rainbows will be in there feeding on aquatic bugs. Why........Oxygen. That fast, roiling water is full of oxygen and with that, BUGS! Plus, the trout don't have MUCH time to strike your offering as it rushes by! It's either now or never for them and if their hungry they'll usually GRAB it, or it's gone by. Hit every rock, the pocket behind it even if the rock is completely submerged! You can't see the pocket, but it's still there! I'm going to do some research on my computer for you, and I'll send you some more detailed information. Road numbers and such so you can fish "my" old spots? I'll send more later.
What BIG fish! LOL.
😔
