These river Smallmouth couldn't Get enough of this Bait! (spring kayak fishing)

It would appear that the smallmouth bite is officially here in the central/north midwest! Even though season is still closed in Minnesota for bass, pike and walleye, that didn't stop me from heading over the border again into the cornfields and cow pies of northern Iowa! You want to talk about an area of land that is "slept on" when it comes to fishing.....? In my opinion Northern Iowa takes that award - Soooo many great lakes and rivers to explore around the top part of the state that it's almost kind of overwhelming trying to piece it together!
The bite was good today and the Northland baits were absolutely killer for these hungry, spring smallies. It won't be long before the spawn begins and we are up shallow chasing these bronzebacks!

Same! I’ve been hearing about some minor white bass runs here n’ there but nothing major yet. Those are the best freakin times! Dude Iowa is legit! Highly recommend heading over the border and breaking in some new spots!
