I was on fish in a weed bed 10’ from shore during one tournament. A competitor boat saw us and actually cut us off by going between us and the shore, 5’ from us. As a kayaker myself, some of you in these comments need better insight on proper boating etiquette, along with USCG law and rule study. Suppose this small feeder creek goes for a few miles beyond the mouth where he was passed by the boater…..do you think the boater should go somewhere else because this guy was fishing in the navigation lane at the mouth?? Let him “claim” the entire creek?? Or should the boater approach at low idle, be courteous and offer to pass with the trolling motor, and continue on up to his favorite fishing area? Harbor freight sells a $20 “plastic welder” that is basically just a giant soldering iron with different head attachments for shaping the melted plastic. I used it to repair some plastic equipment cases for a friend. I just found an inconspicuous place on the edges of the cases to shave off “donor” plastic to repair, cracks and holes. Anyways, I would definitely try something like that before replacing a $4400 kayak. The iron softens the plastic around the crack, to fuse it together, but adding shavings of the very same plastic to it helps. It’s important that you 1) use the same type of plastic and 2) prep all surfaces with rubbing alcohol and use gloves so that you don’t introduce oil’s that would prevent adhesion or fusion. You might also want to keep a cheap little fountain pump handy that you could hook up to the battery and use like a bilge pump in an emergency.
I have a bag of plastic shaving from when I drilled two holes for my transducer wiring. I hope I never need it but I figure it couldn’t hurt. I also made a keel guard for where his leak is. Seems to be a very vulneralble spot

I grew up fishing Spadra Creek on Lake Dardenelle. Caught my first six pounder there, as well as my first eight pound bass. Lots of fond memories from nearly 50 years ago! Always fun fishing with you, Jay!
Cole there is a product called seal all. It is a great product. It dries clear and super tough you can drill it . I used it on an aluminum boat and it held for the year that I had the boat. You might consider it. Works on steel aluminum plastic glass etc. Hope it helps. Love and Respect.
You did the smart thing. People are crazy now with road rage and hate videos everywhere. You did right just keep cool keep fishing and move one. Good job.
I graduated in Old Town, ME. Every boat they make has an index card with all its info and goes into a giant record room. Best of the best. Hard working and prideful. Heart of the town. Patriots.
It was good to see all the things that can happen while tournament fishing. I hope you never forget to be better prepared with hydration next time!!! Heat stroke is so serious and not worth it! I enjoyed watching and those fish were pretty nice.
Oh Cole…..😢 I really feel like if you hadn’t lost the time to boat repairs, driving around the lake, and your kindly bass boat buddy, you could have won that one! Your fishing was impeccable! Good job anyway.
@@dehuizhang188Not everyone is a hardcore fisherman and I doubt the guy on the boat was being malicious. 100% understandable to be frustrated but to fight a guy when he really didn’t do anything wrong is really immature. Cole handled it great I mean I’d probably get frustrated to but you gotta just let them pass and move on with the day.
Cole, kayaks are made from a heat formed plastic which means a home depot bucket it the right type of plastic and the right color to MELT your kayak back together. Use a hot iron bar and a small propane torch and your in business. Good luck.
The character you showed under pressure was admirable. You maintained your cool and pulled out a great limit. My guess is the guy in the bass boat caught little or nothing. Keep on doing what you do. God bless!
Hey lad, go to auto parts store, buy black RTV oil and gas resistant, can cure under water as well. That area will never leak again. The tensile strength is far above what our kayaks are made out off. It will last longer than the boat.
Thank you for your posts. Hey, Y'all planning on doing a big ole feature on the huge draw down of Lake Conway? Could be cool to see the effects over the long haul. Thanks again.
yeah man im in the camp where you dont own the river. you dont know if you were gunna get the fish or not before he went through, chill and calm is the way.
I'm glad you enjoy tournament fishing. Not something that I was ever interested in doing. I always fish to eat, and I never have time to do that even. But I love to watch you having a decent time fishing. Better luck at the next tourney.
Cole the Conqueror! What a crazy day. Love boaters, they can literally motor to any place on the lake, but want to pull up on us. The patch looked big on screen, but look into plastic welding. Also they sale plastic keel guards, that you might be able to use for that hole on the outside for an additional layer.
Have you ever tried using the two oart plastic weld to plug the hole ? Sand it and mix the plastic weld and apply. It cures quick. I also place a couple big pool noodles inside the kayak to help keep it a float in case of something like that
Besides, there was actually a study on bass movement done, can't remember where, but it was over a period of like 2 years. Anyway, one of the observations they made was how unaffected bass were by boat traffic. They will move off the spot and return within around 10 minutes or so. After being caught they went right back to the general area they were caught, however, due to suspected stress responses were unlikely to aggressively feed for about 48 hours. Then they would be back to normal behavior. They also found individual bass generally go to the same seasonal spots year over year even when caught in tournaments and dropped miles from that spot. They hung around the drop off for a period of around a month or so if needs were met, but slowly made their way back across the lake and by the next year they were back in their spot.
Flex tape Cole!!! $15 for a roll and it works!! Don’t get me wrong the water proof JB weld is great stuff but after you put it on go over it with a piece of Flex tape!! It works for me and my Jon boat!! 😊
13:25 - I had a 2" gash in the bottom of my Pelican Bass Raider last season, and I was able to fix it with West System 655-8 G/flex Epoxy Adhesive. It's a phenomenal product that I think would work better than JB Weld.
Great video! That's the way to stay with it! You came so close to the third place mark. Can't wait to be with you the next time! Loves and hugs to your sweet family. 😊😊 I'm proud of you Cole! Good job. God bless all here.
Nice job. AS far as your cameras overheating, maybe you should make a small sun shroud over the rear cam, you should also get get an Arctic Air Sunshield Hat to shade your body cam. Congrats on your limit.
Cant tell you how many times I've had days like yours. Glad to see you power through it. I really don't think I would have allowed that guy to go by me without giving him an earful. Total disrespect and unsportsmanlike.
Not a smart thing to do lol Your out in the middle of nowhere, big boat little kayak , guess who wins . I have both a Bluesky 360 pro , SW125 and a nitro bass boat , what he did was go buy slow in a public waterway . Nothing wrong with that in a small area , you don't own the water .
While that suks to have happen you still have to remember no one owns the water. Every one has the right to go and fish where they want. Personaly when i see someone fishing a spot i try not to bother them and will move on to a different spot. To me that just common curtisy wich alot of folks seem to lack now days.
Yep, there are those where they'll crowd you ought of a hole too. Which if you have those types, when they ain't looking, hook a fish throw it out and that'll be enough for them to see you reeling them in, where you live them away from where you'd prefer. Be careful some will shoot at ya.
There have been so many times that people in boats, jet skis, kayaks and even paddle boards have disturbed my fishing when I was in places in my kayak that a boat or jet ski would have to really work at getting into. Being courteous to another fisherman on the water should just be a standard behavior. I have even had boats that seemed like they were attempting to swamp my kayak with their wakes. Come on people, be better than that. This isn't complaining, it is observing how some people can behave poorly. Cole, even though you had some adversity, you worked through it like a champ. You may not have won the tournament, you are winning in life!!! Go home, enjoy your family and get ready to leave some fish with sore lips on the next time out!!
Omg..I keep to myself , as much as possible, but that douchebag, I would’ve lost my shit. Apologies for language. Love y’all’s channel and much respect to how you handled the situation!
Cole, just a suggestion...get flex tape or the spray. Believe me it works. Or keep 2 kits of the patch you used. As you said, check your kayak the afternoon before and get it all ready for whatever. It's great to watch your videos.
Im so glad you stayed calm with those rude guy's in the bass boat, a friend of mine who was a guild on Wiess lake in Centre Al.ask some pleasure boaters to quit circling his boat and clients while he was on a guilde d trip, they laughed at him and made another, well Sam Heaton run them down , jumped into their boat, beat them with a boat paddle and is still on the crappie fishing channels on Outdoor Channel and Pursuit Channel.. He's a good man, just doesn't take lip from smart mouths!!!
The guy with the finest crappie/bass boat ever made and he has to paddle his invertible bubble boat around trying to look like he is having fun with no room, no stability, no speed, geeeeeez, just lay it on the window sill and slam the window on it ! When using anything that needs to stick to your plastic boat , scuff the area so the epoxy has something to hang on to. like 60 grit sandpaper by hand, scratch it in a cross hatch and it will stick.
I'd patch it from the outside, with some fiber glass cloth and resin that way the patch would never fail, cheaper than a new yak, and with two under 3 years old you might feel a little bit of a pinch, now and again.
Yes . Gator patch . Fiberglass reinforced resin patch . They are amazing . I patched a lightbulb sized hole in my yak . They make keel gaurd patches too to protect the keel from getting holes .
There’s a guy name Stevie night that is a reaction channel and he lost his son a couple months ago. I wish you guys would give him a shout out. It’s a very sad story.
Always take Flex Tape along! Yeah, their commercials are cheesy and corny, but their tape is the real deal, and can save your day, or even your life! Great job keeping your cool with the you-know-what that absolutely couldn't resist running the big motor right through where you were fishing, too. Stuff like that is exactly why the phrase my wife hears out of me the most is "I hate humans." Stay Safe!
Get a PTEX stick at a snowboard shop to fix the hole. That's what we used to use on skis and snowboards. I hear that works better than JB Weld. Just light the PTEX stick and let it drip on the hole or crack to seal it up.
I fish for crappie and catfish mainly and I keep everything legal to keep. I had caught a nice largemouth while crappie fishing once and threw it in the live well. A bass fisherman seen me and said "hey, aren't you going to throw that bass back?!". I said no, why would I do that? I caught it and I'm going to eat it. Same way with hunting. If I shoot it I'm going to eat it.
have you looked at keel guards to cove you hole? or contacted oldtown to have them fix it? OMTC i think ( not sure 100% ) has lifetime hull repairs if you buy a kayak from them. they are in arkansas
Great video, you need to carry some sorta bilge pump. Catching fish seems to be the least of your issues. Dang when Murphy moves in to your world he really dumps on you, and here I thought it was only me. Step back and take a deep breath...
I have a spot like you found going in to that narrow creek. With a log across the channel under water. Most people just stay on their big motor and go right over it headed back to the bigger water on the other side. I always stop their and land about 4-5 fish on my way in there. 💪🏻😂
Get the kayak fixed. We don't have to worry about it the next time. Don't be a hillbilly gave me weld that don't work for everything. You know you could probably get that flex seal. Probably help and stay in place
Jay I have been fishing from a kayak for over 30 years with the same kayak. Had to patch a number of times . I have found that boot glue is the best patch you can get .

Cole there is a product called seal all. It is a great product. It dries clear and super tough you can drill it . I used it on an aluminum boat and it held for the year that I had the boat. You might consider it. Works on steel aluminum plastic glass etc. Hope it helps. Love and Respect.
He could also try some flex seal!
Great job Cole, you hung in there throughout. God bless you guys
Patriots.
Awesome!!! I love my kayak and can’t really picture myself in anything else!
Keep pounding! Cole good 👍 job. Rude bass boaters.
I admire how Cole handled that. Can’t say I would have been able to do the same. As the old saying goes. Never Give Up
I would of started fighting the boat guy lol😂
Handled what? Some pretty lame whining on his part. Does he own that water?
You wouldnt do sht bud. Youd be all passive aggressive like the loser who runs this channel
That was a lot of fun. Thanks for taking us along
God bless!
Educated guess?? You must have saw something no one else did in this video.
i have the same kayak, i installed a bilge pump just for that reason, thought i saw your bubles coming from your patch
Hey lad, go to auto parts store, buy black RTV oil and gas resistant, can cure under water as well.
That area will never leak again.
The tensile strength is far above what our kayaks are made out off.
It will last longer than the boat.
"We don't need no shoes. We just need four more bass." Love it! Nice content! Glad I stumbled upon your channel. I will be watching more!
I appreciate you showing the real story. We all go through these kind of days but you stayed come and collected through it all.
That’s what you get when fishing public water. It’s aggravating but just because your fishing that creek doesn’t mean it’s closed to everyone else.
Way to keep fishing 🎣!! 👏👏👏
I'm glad you enjoy tournament fishing. Not something that I was ever interested in doing. I always fish to eat, and I never have time to do that even. But I love to watch you having a decent time fishing. Better luck at the next tourney.
Positive guy and good for you for handling that really well. My short tempered self would have not been nice.
I also place a couple big pool noodles inside the kayak to help keep it a float in case of something like that
We need to try it! Thanks for the tip!
Lighten up, Cole, that guy wasn't going that fast.
Fr
❤keep up the good work my love support and blessings always 🎉
You saved your day! It was a struggle with all the obstacles. Nice to get third
Just wanted to say I Am so proud of you. Just like the old saying when life gives you lemons make lemonade. Thats exactly what you did.
Thanks Meemaw!!!
Unbelievable! Way to grind! Most would give up.
Great video! That's the way to stay with it! You came so close to the third place mark. Can't wait to be with you the next time! Loves and hugs to your sweet family. 😊😊 I'm proud of you Cole! Good job.
God bless all here.
Nice fishing Cole.
“It’s not a destination, it’s what you learned along the way.” You’re a trooper cole 💪🏼
😂😂😂😂
Not a smart thing to do lol Your out in the middle of nowhere, big boat little kayak , guess who wins .
I have both a Bluesky 360 pro , SW125 and a nitro bass boat , what he did was go buy slow in a public waterway . Nothing wrong with that in a small area , you don't own the water .
Hey, I think we've all had days like this. You did a better job keepin your cool than I would've! Strong work and nice castin!
Good that you kept your head down and not give up, congratulations
Dude that was super fun to watch!
Flex Seal FTW lol You def handled that guy much better than I would have.
Omg..I keep to myself , as much as possible, but that douchebag, I would’ve lost my shit. Apologies for language. Love y’all’s channel and much respect to how you handled the situation!
Nice come back man. Love the video!
You have a great attitude and spirit about you. Great job!
Cole, just a suggestion...get flex tape or the spray. Believe me it works. Or keep 2 kits of the patch you used. As you said, check your kayak the afternoon before and get it all ready for whatever. It's great to watch your videos.
Your video shows the boat coming before you catch that fish..
I remember patching canoe holes on the Buffalo River with chewing gum. In cold water gum becomes as tough as J.B. Weld!
You handled it like a Pro
I'd patch it from the outside, with some fiber glass cloth and resin that way the patch would never fail, cheaper than a new yak, and with two under 3 years old you might feel a little bit of a pinch, now and again.
Yup. Always patch from outside
Yes . Gator patch . Fiberglass reinforced resin patch . They are amazing . I patched a lightbulb sized hole in my yak . They make keel gaurd patches too to protect the keel from getting holes .
I love this channel great job guys
A grown man not knowing how to properly patch a kayak absolutely blows my mind.
Fr😂😂
I fish for crappie and catfish mainly and I keep everything legal to keep. I had caught a nice largemouth while crappie fishing once and threw it in the live well. A bass fisherman seen me and said "hey, aren't you going to throw that bass back?!". I said no, why would I do that? I caught it and I'm going to eat it. Same way with hunting. If I shoot it I'm going to eat it.
That boat set the mood for the day.. of course anything bad that can happen.. will.. nice fishin though
have you looked at keel guards to cove you hole? or contacted oldtown to have them fix it? OMTC i think ( not sure 100% ) has lifetime hull repairs if you buy a kayak from them. they are in arkansas
Great video, you need to carry some sorta bilge pump. Catching fish seems to be the least of your issues. Dang when Murphy moves in to your world he really dumps on you, and here I thought it was only me. Step back and take a deep breath...
Way to show your Class and do the right thing. Good example to others how to fight through adversity.
You did great. You caught alot if fish. Still a great time.
Nice brother
Thanks amigo!!!
Over all you pull it out even when most people would have called it the day💯💯💯💯👍🏾
you are still a class act, i would had been a little peeved by the way that dude acted. I know i probably would not had extra JB Weld to fix kayak
I'm proud of you dude. You did good 👍
Get you some stuff called quick steel just clean the spot and apply it in the crack and it shouldn’t leak any more
Wow that guy! You kept your cool very well.
Jay I have been fishing from a kayak for over 30 years with the same kayak. Had to patch a number of times . I have found that boot glue is the best patch you can get .
Definitey got to try that! Thanks!
