- I cannot say this enough - the Mississippi backwaters are absolutely AWESOME! Ive come to love the place over the last few months during open-water season, and this was one of my first times ice fishing it - boy did it NOT disappoint! The perch were endless and big, the bluegill were big, the crappie were decent - I mean does it get any better considering the terrible weather conditions?!?! I can't wait until the ice gets better out there so I can head out with some minnows and tip-ups and try for walleye, pike, and whatever else wants to bite!

Great video ! We’ve been patiently waiting for good ice up there but being 4 1/2 hrs away we need it to be a little colder for us so we don’t drive for nothing. Looks like you were in some serious water by the time you quit 👍👍👍👍

I came for the ice fishing, (Which was great!), but I think I spent almost 1/2 the video mumbling, "Throw the stick! Throw the stick! Please throw the stick!" lol
This made me lol! I know, in the video it seems like I’m totally neglecting her the whole time but to be honest, half the time she stood there looking at me like “dad come on what are you doing?!” Was because I had just thrown a stick and she was waiting for me to throw it again haha. Shes a ball/stick chasing monster! Thanks for tuning in!
@@LoOutdoors Oh, I completely get it! With the cuts the way they were, I could tell that the sticks were moving every time, and every time I was mumbling that there was a fish on your line. I wish I had a dog tame enough that I could take fishing with me, but my little mutt would be gone as soon as I opened the car door! lol
@@andrewthomasonI definitely got lucky with her while we did our early-puppy training days. It’s been alot of work getting her to where she is now, but she also has a natural sense of calm and collect that I got lucky with getting! She will stay in the bow of my kayak all day and remain “chill” while I fish - my other dog I had could NEVER! Lol

You know that’s a great question - I often get messages about taking people out and I was just kind of thinking, instead of trying to go out with a handful of individual people it could be kinda cool to get a group together so I could still fish with folks and help with any questions people may have without stressing about meeting up with people nonstop and timing issues. You got me thinking though…. Be on the lookout for an update on my RUclips “community” tab - I’ll throw some ideas out on there when I get something put together!
