    Do you know if the lower intake from a 3.4SFI could be a direct replacement for the lower intake from a 3.1SFI?

  • @josephrobertson7609
    @josephrobertson7609 День назад

    I swapped my valve and springs from the originals to the valve springs and rockers out of a 95 so that I could get the extra lift. Would I torque those down to the 3.1 original specs or the 3100 specs. And what would be a good cam I can’t seem to find any decent ones I would like a choppier one. The car is ran at higher rpm’s very very frequently as it’s a derby car motor

    I’m looking for a aftermarket intake for my 7a motor. Will the 5A intake work somehow with the 7a? Of if anyone knows where I can find an intake for the 7a?

    • @modeverything1
      @modeverything1 День назад

      I'm guessing you have the 307 with the 7a heads and not a 350 with the 7A heads? If you have the 307 the only aluminum intake that would work is the factory A5 intake or sp2p Edelbrock. If you have the 350 you have a lot more options.

      The only intake that would be a direct bolt on would be a Edelbrock sp2p but I don't think it will be an improvement over the 5A intake. ruclips.net/video/LIO1LCSfiYE/видео.htmlsi=xtxNHQ27dpl0Keq1

    Hey, new car guy here just got a 2005 Pontiac grand am gt and was wondering what was some good starting places for this car, also where’d you get that muffler it sounds awesome🙏🏼

    • @modeverything1
      @modeverything1 День назад

      The muffler/resonator you can find on Amazon or Summit racing, or possibly local performance shops, if you have one nearby! I would start with making sure the maintenance is up to date first before modding (brakes, filters, fluids...) Then, I would probably say a performance muffler. After that it all depends on what you want to spend or how fast you want to go. I usually start with hptuners so that I can get rid of some of the torque management built into the pcm and firm up the transmission shifts so that it is not so lazy. I will try to get a short up soon of the completed exhaust setup!

    3400 & 3500 both motors are JUNK. The 3800s were the ones you want best motor ever made. I had a 2004 monte carlo with the 3400 when I say that thing was JUNK it leaked oil and everything I had to keep adding oil at least 2 times a week and eventually the leak just got worst and the motor locked up on me running completely out of oil. Them motors were known for that.

    I liked your videos on the 3.9 engine. I had a problem with my 3.9. The front 3 cylinders were running extremely rich. The front right piston had the valves hit it. One of the 3 codes was the runner control and it failed and would like your opinion if you think that might have caused the problem? Do you have a video on removing the engine from an Impala and replacing. I very much prefer the old V8 that were easy to remove and work on. My wife helped and she was in the Blazer engine compartment helping. Don't know if you have ever worked on airplane engines they are a lot easier and you always start with a clean engine. Good youtube videos have really helped. Thanks again yours was one of the best. David Muhs

    Are you planning on actually making this fast or is it just a daily that you fool with? If your planning on actually making it quick I would pull the 3.4 and put in a 3.5 or 3.9 from an impala or g6. Also are you gonna rebuild the transmission or just put in a junkyard unit? If you are going to be rebuilding it, I hope you make a video series on it as there arent many videos about these trannys

    • @modeverything1
      @modeverything1 2 месяца назад

      Mostly just a daily that I'm making faster. As for how fast it depends on how carried away I get 😆 I do have 2 LZ engines right now, and have older videos on the 3900. I am still figuring out some things to do the swap since only one has been done, but they didn't share any information (milzy motorsports) and I believe it ran on the vvt pcm.

  • @deanfarr3249

    I hope that engine build works for you. Them stock 3400 motors were trash. My dad bought me an 04 monte carlo I got about 5 years out of it it uses and leak more and more oil as time went on. It's going to scrap. Stay away from the 3400s. 3800s are the best. That's my advice to people when they consider buying a good used GM car.

    • @modeverything1
      @modeverything1 2 месяца назад

      3800s leak oil too, as do most engines that are 20+ years old. I would take a 3400 over a 3800 all day.

    • @deanfarr3249
      @deanfarr3249 2 месяца назад

      @modeverything1 all depends on how you take care of them too and keep the oil changed. Most common reasons why oil leaks especially on 20+year old cars is the oil pressure sensor and rear main seal goes bad.

Since there's no work inside the motor, and no tune, I could swap just for a bit better throttle response. But other things demand my money right now. Just get 350b heads ?

      I think the combustion chamber on the 350 heads is too big for the 307 bore, but i believe 330 heads would work

    would this work with a 98 grand am gt? im trying to find any performance mods before deciding to 3400 swap it as im not sure if it would be a bolt-in swap or not.

      3400 would be pretty much a bolt in swap. The 3400 56mm throttle body would be a bolt on for the 3100. I would wait to do the 65mm throttle body until you have large port heads/intakes of a 3400 swap.

    I live in Poland and I have a Pontiac Grand Prix 3.1 LE from 1991. I would like to ask you about two things. There is oil collecting in my intake manifold, and the spark plugs are a strange color, they are not black, but the upper electrodes of the spark plug are white. When the engine is hot, it shakes slightly. Ignition coils, cables, plugs are new. I also installed a new timing chain. Compression on the cylinders is equal and amounts to 190 psi. When the engine is very hot and has been left for about 20 to 30 minutes, it runs erratically after starting. After 10 seconds it calms down and everything is fine. If my stop is shorter, for example 10 minutes, then everything is fine. Could this be a problem with the piston rings? I'm asking because after removing the PCV valve from the valve cover, the engine smokes a lot from this hole. If the valve is installed, everything is fine. I also checked the vacuum pressure on a warm engine. My meter read -17 inHg. I will be very grateful for any help. Greetings from Poland. Adam.

      Hello! Did you happen to replace the ignition module too or just the coils?

    • @supermolibden5037
      @supermolibden5037 3 месяца назад

      @modeverything1 Hello. I also replaced the ignition module, no difference :(( What should be the ignition advance angle at idle speed and a hot engine? I have another question about fuel injectors, because the original ones for the 3.1 LH0 engine have ...888 at the end of the serial number and I installed injectors from 2.8 engine, with the number ending ..536. Everyone writes that these injectors are interchangeable, but is it really so? The engine still shakes at idle, or maybe the fuel dose is too low?

    Curious how it would sound with my setup, 304 SS, a 200 cell cat and dual super HP2s🤔

    • @modeverything1
      @modeverything1 3 месяца назад

      It would probably be louder than this, the factory cat cuts the noise down pretty good.

      It's not too bad, it might be a little louder without the subfloor and everything in the back.

    Good choice on the intake Offenhauser port O sonic (Mondello posi flow) is a great intake. My 488 pulls hard this season and its a kids toy compared to this.

      @@modeverything1 I hurt it bad. Motor is good but broke the drive shaft, trans housing and now the pinion seal is leaking so diff needs a inspection. It hooked damn hard. The shaft was stuck in the shaft loop and the yoke in the trans and they got into a fight.

      I believe it's an old Mondello posi flo. It's an Offenhauser super sonic casting.
