The IC7200 is one brilliant radio and now very collectable. They are brilliant on CW with great inbuilt filtering. They are built like a sh1t house brick.

This humble VHF only Icom radio has a time proven rock solid front-end rejecting strong signals from outside the amateur band (Check QST and ARRL testing on the receiver performance of most current and older handhelds) and it is therefore the perfect intermod free emergency radio to take along with me on my lonely hikes especially close to FM broadcasting mountain tops...! That MFJ SWR and WATT meter is just the same as the KP-O DG503 MAX it is the same meter under a different brand!

I see in the box to the right of the frequencies it says OFF. What does that mean? What is OFF?

You should be able to unlock it so it opens up all HAM and GRMS by pressing the PTT and # then turn on.

Great video! I just got my very first G90 this past week. I've been using it a lot at home and love it. I really want to try doing a park activation with it sometime soon. I just need to come up with a better antenna for that than what I have right now.

Thank you for the video! It's a decent analog radio. Not quite as sensitive as a superhet, of course, but it gets the job done locally. Feels good in the hand, excellent RX audio. By the way, I could also hear your KXI-41 weather station (162.500) on it all the way up in MKE when VHF propagation was good:)

My XYL found this video for me, looking for a nice POTA site to head to for my birthday weekend. The only thing is, I'm not sure if this location is a 4-fer. It is definitely a 3-fer, but all the maps I found seem to indicate that the Lower Delaware River National Wild and Scenic River area stops at Knowlton Twp, which ends a little bit south of this part of I-80. Did you find a map that says otherwise?

Bought a second user G90 this week. Amazing intuitive radio. First contact UK to Spain within 10 minutes, 59. Would highly recommend it.

It's a good radio, but stand it next to a Talkpod A36a with identical antennas( either a Nagoya 701, or Retevis equivalent), and watch which stations they receive. The Talkpod gets them all while the Tid does not. 🧐 Fact: the Talkpod has a more sensitive receive section.

Many items have a seal on them and if you break tune seal you lose your warranty. While you can float the stickers and replace them, it really depends on the manufacturer's policies. Perhaps working to identify the parts on the boards. I have the crossed internal swr meter from the same manufacturer and it has a power connector as well but all it powers is the light. I appreciate you taking it apart so i don't have to. We are given one right that other operators don't have, and that is the right to build stuff and put it on the air. Many people choose not to. This hobby is big enough for everyone.

3:03, the software I use is RT Systems. After using Chirp and the CPS, RT Systems is outstanding. Numerous things I can do with RT Systems which cannot be accomplished on the other software packages. Yes, RT Systems cost me $24, very well worth the price. YMMV

Kevin, one of the things I’ve learned in my POTA activations is that I can make 100W radio a QRP radio but I can’t make a QRP radio a QRO radio. These days I only take a 100W radio to my activations.

Kevin: Good for you for being patient and activating this park. This summer (2024) some days with the poor band conditions, activating a park has been a real challenge. On August 14, it took me one hour and 37 minutes running 80W at a park in SE Michigan to get 12 contacts and half of those contacts were park to park.

I hope you’re not carrying that radio every day. I bought one and it is as deaf as a fence post and doesn’t transmit worth a damn. I sent it back and got my money back. What a piece of crap.
