WooHoo! It's great seeing other POTA activators giving the higher bands a shot in the VHF contests. I'm chasing the 6-Pack award, so I strategically operated from a POTA 3fer, LOL. A better antenna for 6m (I just used a speaker wire dipole) is on my list for the June VHF Contest too.
I really enjoy 6 meter specially from the park. I've been lucky to be out at the park during openings and its awesome. I'm really going to try and get something together for 6, 2 and 440 for the June VHF contest and go out to K-1000 again for that. 73! -Kevin
@@WQ9FHamRadio I picked up the Elk Dual Band Log Periodic for 2m/70cm last spring and it's fantastic. The VHF club out here did a 6m moxon build that I missed last year. I'm going to see about maybe doing that to help with 6m.
Thanks for the tip! I've had a few Heil headsets over the years with varying levels of success. When I POTA since I record my activations I usually just use the speakers, at home when I do SSB I listen with Bose Noise Cancelling headphones and have a Heil PR-30 Microphone I use. Thanks for watching! 73 -Kevin
Thanks! Working a pileup sure can be fun, the first time I got on the receiving end of a pileup doing a POTA activation it was such thrill, and now 300+ activations later it still is fun! I've got a video scheduled in 2 weeks, I had a 90 minute pileup on 20 meters from a park and ended up working over 200 QSOs in that time. Thanks for watching! -73, Kevin
Yeah the 991a muffles it a little bit but the difference between the DNR on the Yaesu versus my 7300 was night and day. I try not to use it all the time but it really makes a difference to pull out some difficult calls sometimes. 73. -Kevin

Kevin I recently added a Heil PMD6 headset to my POTA activations and it is a game changer having both hands free. Give it a try.

The noise reduction on my 7100 tends to muffle the audio a bit much. I rarely use it because of that.
