In this video I spent some time with the Icom V-80 which I got in a Mystery Box from Main Trading Company. This is a VHF Analog radio and it is one of the most basic radios you could probably get when it came out.
In the video I showed how to program a simplex and repeater as well as save those to the memory. It is important skill to have with any HT you own, is to be able to program it by hand I always thought.
I spent some time hooking this to a few tools that i've started to use, the first being the Surecom SW-102 SWR and Wattmeter to check the power output levels. And then my newest tool the TinySA Ultra, which was used to check for harmonics and to see how clean the signal was.

I have the V80. I have had it for years. I like it because it can take regular batteries so you don't have to charge it. Just buy some more AAs.

I'm really liking it, it is pretty easy to use so far and gives a lot of useful information, specially when it comes to the cheap import HT's. 73! -Kevin
