Roll spaming is different than intuitive dodging... I could dodge by pure reflex in Bloodborne, DS1 and DS3. I never spamed roll like an idiot, then From decided to add shitty delayed attacks and it sucks, it just kills the flow of the fight for me and this shit combined with input reading and AoE attacks just screams artificial difficulty... From is out of ideas, they're starting to get lost with their game design and it shows, and the modern gaming industry is so garbage that Elden boRing still won goty LMAO (not that it means anything anymore, remember when Overwatch won?)
"Devolved" sounds like dumbing things down. And it really is for Me. I don't get the hate of reloading guns, it adds to the dynamics and strategies in combats. New Pump Shotgun animations feel like a nerf gun. Removing Devastator was also absolutely uncalled for.
Spend 70 bucks to be extremely stressed out. Radagon to Elden beast is complete bs.
Honestly this is how I feel. It’s a pretty game. Beautifully designed. And then the bosses… Either cheese them or get one shot yourself. I genuinely don’t see how some enemies can be defeated on a pure melee build. I use ranged attacks which are considered “cheesy” by many but there’s a reason. I am not spending 5+ hours learning every single cue so I can parry one out of 5 hits and get a good hit. There’s no sense of urgency or progression. Either cheese or be cheesed. In some cases it purely down to simply having a build that a boss is naturally weak to (such as Radahn getting destroyed by rotten breath on faith builds). And if not.. well too bad. Come back when you’re ludicrously over levelled 🙄

Yea, as always i disagree with literally every point in the video, but the only one i want to point out is the Godrick wind move... that is the only move he makes that movement for and it has more wind up than every single move on Midir in ds3 that isnt his phase transition kinda thing, it's incredibly dodgeable, though i do agree the godskin noble puff up move isn't, so i suppose i agree with one point.
The developers said why fix what ain't broken 😮

I’ve been playing this game for a few days, currently around level 40, still far from many of the bosses from this video, but already I think my most enjoyable challenge will be the first defeated boss Mounted Tree Sentinel, right at the very beginning, which I wouldn’t have believed if someone told me that at the start. I can't say the game is bad, but it's overhyped over the roof and I can't get why.
Maliketh is one of the only ones who "jumps around like a spider monkey" and hes balanced by the fact that he has really low health I no everyone has their own opinion but all the reasons u said are just difficulty enhancements which i actually enjoyed compared to the likes of ds3 bosses which i killed so quickly i barely got to appreciate them

4:10 perfect example bro. And it’s plastered throughout the game. It’s lazy. Yet if you voice criticism about it you’re told to get good by the FromSoft sexual. I love these games but I will never say they’re perfect. They aren’t. Elden Ring’s bosses are honestly the worst part about it
Every humanoid boss on two legs is just delay attack delay attack delay attack, hit you with an aggressive combo out of nowhere and keep you in a stunned animation. As soon as you heal the activate any ranged attack and spam you. Every human boss feels the same. It’s boring and honestly infuriating the things I’ve seen with my two eyes during this game.
I also don’t understand how unique bosses have so many variants for no reason. How did Morgott survive getting killed as Margit? How did Mohg survive getting killed in Shunning Grounds? Who the hell is Godefroy? How did Radahn survive getting killed in the festival then show up in the DLC as Consort Radahn? There are 2 variants of Loretta (+1 in DLC). There are 2 variants of Astel. I could go on. Is no one actually dying because of Destined Death or what? Is it because they’re demigods? Because we definitely see some of our favorite NPCs dying at the end of their quest (Millicent, Alexander, Diallos, etc.)
i hate defending these, i agree that this is bad boss design repeating them but... margit was a projection from morgott to protect godfrey because morgott suspected the tarnished was gonna whoop him, mohg is another projection i dont remember why there though. godefroy is just inexcusable lmao. festival radahn is killed but only in body. as shown by ranni and godwyn a body alone can be killed as well as a soul only, we killed radahn's body at the festival and miquella put his soul in the body of mohg. loretta is another projection.

That’s Bloodborne for u not Elden ring. By far Bloodborne has the worst bosses design in fromsoft history expect the DlCs. the only saving grace for Bloodborne is the Aesthetics and parry mechanic

it simply doesn't switch that fast for me. I've got no idea whats going on. I switch to a another weapon, click to fire, then nothing happens.

I dont want to have a bunch of random explosive hitboxes thrown at me that i have no way of knowing about if i never had encountered them! There are WAY TOO MANY AOE, one shot, weirdly timed, lingering hitboxes! oftentimes what you're seeing is NOT what you are experiencing! It's also bad enough that i have to manage stamina, attacking, AND ROLLING, but i have to also identify whether i can jump over it or dodge it?! I'm honestly having fun on literally EVERY OTHER PART of elden ring BESIDES THE BOSSES! They don't even have any real gimmicks like the first Dark Souls did! In fact for a group of people who scorn players for cheesing this game, the only times i actually die in it is when the game ITSELF decides to cheese me witch some one shot, AOE, crowd control crap! My only openings to attack end up being when my Mimic Tear distracts the boss!

I want to throw my controller into my TV every time when I create space between me and the boss, I heal, and they IMMEDIATELY punish it.

I didn't play ER but, I'm looking at the sheer amount of bosses and thinking "no way all of them are good", while getting DS2 flashbacks.
Sekiro will forever be the king of from soft games for me. Elden ring just feels like it doesn't give you the tools to deal with enemy aggression. It's almost like they had one team design the bosses and a different team design the player mechanics without either team communicating with each other. Overall it just seems like everything is inconsistent and disconnected. The biggest thing I hate is that parrying isn't even worth it with bosses because critical damage is ass. I also realized just a week ago that enemies read inputs if you are locked on, the moment I just started using free cam it got so much easier. All of this together paints a picture of completely artificial difficulty and it feels cheap, disengaging, and poorly designed. I feel like they spent too much of their time focusing on making everything pretty and spent too much money in the budget on getting George R.R. Martin to write the story and even that ended up being too vague to be worth it. The only reason people like this game and defend it is because it's pretty and good for roleplaying. The gameplay itself is a massive failure in my opinion.

amd is cheaper, very good open source drivers, more vram, and i don't record shit so i guess the answer is pretty obvious
Open source FFMPEG VAAPI-AV1 encoding is also pretty good on the latest AMD GPUs, so recording isn't even an issue anymore. Only ray tracing is an issue on AMD now.

It's not just the bosses that are poorly designed, the player combat and gameplay itself is poorly designed as well. As usual FS put all their resources into visuals, level design and music and left the combat development and gameplay polish as an afterthought. They don't seem interested in really innovating on the Souls combat and the fanbase seems more than happy with the shallow and clunky combat experience.
I got all the endings and haven’t beat the game since but still play the first half all the time. I find the bosses and areas just a lot more interesting. Maybe I’d like to fight mallets and Godfrey too but fuck I don’t wanna go through the mountain tops of the giants then jump around farum azula to fight the fucking godskin duo to get there. So I have fun with new build up to morgott and maybe do dlc but it’s a real shame that the game tapers off this way
I think if some bosses just did less damage then it would be more fun. I like learning movesets but this game makes it so annoying when any mistake is an instakill. Do you want me to grind for more vigor? Not fun. Do you want me to not put any points to damage stats so it takes forever to kill a boss? Not fun. I should be able to have a good chance to walk into a new boss and get them first try without using a cracked build by playing smart and figuring out their movesets. But no one can just expect some of the attacks these bosses do that just one shot. Really ruins the experience for me if I have to figure out a boss by dying constantly instead of just having a good fight . I should be able to get hit and heal and remember that attack for the rest of the fight. I did this with Bloodborne a lot and have a decent amount of bosses that I got first try, I dont care if it was technically easier cause it’s more fun and still undeniably challenging. I have it plat btw I’m not shit just think things could be more fun.

Nvidia uses propietary technologies like dlss and g-sync and i know that both companies put propietary firmware in the gpus that is separate from os drivers and is always present on the card but at least you can be more free by choosing amd because they have fsr instead of dlss and freesync instead of g-sync. And freedom is what matters most to me that's why i chose amd even after Nvidia made the Linux drivers for rtx cards foss
its weird to see all these videos about elden ring boss critique videos from when the game released. to me, ER bosses are vastly more interesting and nuanced than what i fought in DS3; SotE introduced some of the best fights in the game, and there are still arguments about this stuff. im glad the general opinion has shifted to the favor of giving elden ring its fair dues, though.
I think early criticisms are more valid, since when people get used to the style of gameplay, the frustrating bits can just be ignored since the boss just dies before the problems become noticeable.
@@doompenguin7453 i don't agree, tbh. so many of the videos from 2 years back have straight up confident misinformation about how bosses work, because players didn't figure out how to properly confront a fight and failed to adapt. i dont believe in that being the fault of the game.

hey doom penguin ik this is a old vid but how do you run your games with the horizontal bars on the screen?? Is it a widescreen monitor? and if so what monitor is it?
The aspect ratio of my old monitor was 21:9 ultrawide, with a resolution of 2560x1080. If you watch a video with this resolution on a standard 16:9 screen, it will display with black bars on the top or bottom.

Force aspect ratio to 21:9 and select whichever is the highest resolution available.

Because I was using the one of the most busted builds possible in the game at the time I made this video. If I was using a UGS with no buffs like I usually do in other games, I would be practically tickling the boss and the boss constantly running away from me would be unbearably annoying.

The bosses don't jump around too much(Except the last one), some of the overworld(mini-boss) enemies on the other hand... I seriously hate that Red wolf.
While I do agree with your point about bleed builds trivializing a lot of the difficulty about this game, and the lack of mobility options available to counter hyper mobile bosses, I have to disagree with a lot of your points. For startes, while yes, some bosses like Godrick have annoying AOE attacks that are not fatal but impossible for some builds to react to, other AOE attacks such as the Godskin Noble are reactable. I feel like enemies input reading your healing is a great way of reminding the player that many of these bosses are demigods that are actively trying to kill the player. Yes, other fromsoft games found different ways of increasing difficulty while still keeping the gameplay engaging, but some bosses lack that quality of always trying to kill you. This is why I'd argue that while Elden Ring doesn't have the best boss design of any fromsoft game, it certainly doesn't have the worst, and it definitely has a boss design that would fit it's style moreso than Bloodborne. Elden Ring is about fulfiling the power fantasy about becoming Elden Lord. It rewards players for fighting smart by using the weapons, talismans, and armor the game provides, but also rewards players who choose to use nothing but a buckler and dagger.
