All these references did, was remind me how Final Fantasy IX is still a masterpiece and XIV fails to live up to that level of quality. FF XIV will always just be a "nostalgia" and "memberberry" machine because its an MMO, its hampered in the type of story-telling it can do. If you ask me Endwalker was a disappointment because it was "Anime Waifu wants to destroy the Universe" which is so cringy and it just reminded me what a better game FFIV was, which it was taking all the references from. Until FF XIV breaks out from the shadow of its predecessors instead of constantly referencing them, it will completely fail to have its own identity and story quality will continue to drop as it has across EW and now DT. Doing occasional references is fine, with items and cosmetics is fine but straight up living elements from other FF games is just lazy writing.

My belief is that the third Sphene is her real original body that never fully died / was kept in stasis. Her first voice line is very coarse, like her vocal chords havent been used in a very long time. The fact that there was an Otis in Living Memory separate from the Endless in Heritage Found makes me think 7.0 Spene was just a copy, and that the second Sphene in Solution Nine might be a Plan B copy to execute Preservation's backup plan. I would not be surprised if Pashtarot was the founder of Preservation to hasten their world's Calamity, and that he might have a personal hand in 2nd Sphene's personality + the neo-regulators

Given that the Sundered Ascians are indeed Sundered, I see no reason that there are not other copies or shards of them aren't floating around.

What if.... the Sphene in the final cut scene isn't her backed up memories before she died... but its her backup up SOUL. (slight variant to the memory theory but makes more sense imo) Otis had his soul backed up (with memories) and put in a robot; when they preserved Sphene, they could have put her soul into stasis, like a backup if anything ever happened to the endless Sphene (who may have not known about this). The Otis logic checks out again as we have the endless version and the soul backup version who died. Theoretically, whoever made the new doppleganger Sphene in Solution 9 would need to access this soul backup to create the new endless Sphene. Also, the soul Sphene in Living memory appears to have a body, BUT we know that souls can appear to have corporeal bodies because of how the scions lived on the first during Shadowbringers. Of course, could be wrong but it all lines up lorewise imo

Late to this but here’s my theory to the end: Sphene was the first ‘true’ endless, she was the one where the process was finally made right. It’s only safe to assume that preservation kept a back up of sphenes memory (you wouldn’t not make a copy of your most important files on your computer, such as sentimental things). It’s clear there’s an outside player here and I’m honestly expecting it to be one of our last few ascians, though -why- they are working with preservation remains yet to be seen, even if they are. Why sphene ‘reincarnates’? I think due to sphene being a special endless, I think it’s going to be revealed that preservation used necromancy to stop sphenes soul from moving on when she perished. I think Sphene as an endless was a programme that was balanced out with kindness from her very own soul. Now that there is another sphene it’s possible she’s a programme that exists without a soul because she’s so different from so many other endless. And the sphene we see in living memory at the end is a strange fused version of prime sphene who has somehow gained a physical body, but for all intents and purposes it’s very likely this new rebirthed sphene is dead sphene somehow come back to life.

I like the Preservation theory, more than the Ascian one; simply because I personally feel that the Ascians need to be rested more as a plot device, I have no evidence either way.

Ok so, couple things: 1) It was mentioned in the Dawntrail MSQ dialog (can't remember where off the top of my head) that the simulacrum Sphene's crown is a "special" regulator. I'm anticipating that getting a mention. 2) Yoshi-P said outright that we should brush up on the different convocation members/titles and lore because they'll most likely come up again, maybe not as a primary threat but as a plot device. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them was the reappearing simulacrum Sphene. Thanks for your work!

Always remember that Hythlodeus' recreation in Amarot knew that we would fight Elidibus, and already knew of the outcome. Venat after Emet and Hythlodeus' memories are wiped says she needs to consider who can be brought into the fold. Hythlodeus and Azem are great candidates. Azem must have been told of Venat's plan in order to refuse to help. It's possible that Venat revealed the future to Azem, and from there Azem started to put new plans into motion. It could be from this knowledge of the future that Azem secretly built their own crystal tower, and used their power as an ancient to travel throughout our timeline using their inherent connection to us. It could also re-contextualize the 5.3 cutscene where someone skips the Azem Crystal back to us at the Crystal Tower. We believed it to be Emet, but it could have been Azem. My question is, when we meet Azem, will it be an insane master-plan Azem from a different timeline, or will it be us going back in time to meet them and fulfilling the plan they set in motion? All I know, is the FFXIV world would be a lot cooler if you could look up into the night sky and see all the other reflections. Tear down the barrier, and make a solar system. That's Azem's plan, because it's what my plan would be.

What a great idea for Halloween/ All Saints Wake. Great video. As one of the main officers in my FC, I've had to take a few members to go the Gold Saucer to hang out / process after that cutscene. One member was so freaked out by it they didn't return to MSQ for a few days.

What does the Tattoo on Sphenes Back say? And how was she able to project herself in Tuliyolo during the attack?

It should be pointed out that during the Eden Raids, it's revealed that if a Sundered Ascian dies, the Unsundered would just go looking for a replacement by looking for an incarnate shard of the felled Ascian. IIRC, Gaia even notes that she and Artemis have likely been already replaced by other soul shards of themselves even though Artemis hadn't technically died yet. So it's possible that there's another version of Gaia running around holding the seat of Logrif.
