Its surprising how deep the lore goes for many weapons but its never shown ingame.
I still hope that one day weapons and armor get flavour text.

I wish we were given a replica of one of the three city state leaders weapons as a reward for reaching the highest rank in their respective Grand Companies, along with a replica of their outfits and an item to unlock their hairstyle. 😢
