I'm waiting for them to fizzle it because earlier there was a scene where a gentleman was performing an activity of simulating disembowelment with their shirts still on so it's obvious you know wasn't real as a picture shows you'd run out of actress really fast😮
Bunch of crap

I personally liked the Ninja in the Dragons den. When I was young I travelled by bus over 30km to the city to rent this movie on VHS many times, and then next day to return it.

So cool to see her perspective on different types of forging and hear his wisdom on traditional katana forging. Great video! Thanks for sharing
الو سلام ❤❤❤❤❤😂🎉🎉🎉
So, it is a Japanese version of a rondell dagger.
These are teo very humble and respectful masters of their craft. Not afraid to compliment the work of others with completely different methods.
This kid had been on forged in fire and won so many times he incredible, these smiths can’t do what he can in hours they take weeks
'Twist' pattern was done in some Anglo-Saxon and northern European blades and knives around 7-12th century, which is why you see them in Viking Age swords, spears and such. It was a mix of a wrought iron and carbon steel to create contrast with each other (Probably strength too), which people at the time called 'serpent' in the blade, like a viper. It was usually in the back of the blade or the middle. The pattern changes once you grind it down as well. There's also the 'Turkish Twist' with similar process, but I know less about that.
The amount of respect he has toward different methods of forging is amazing.. that you man is lucky to be learing from him
This would be a perfect learning sword for my red eared slider

He watched and had a lot of respect for the non Japanese blade smiths. That was cool to see.
If your wondering with a hydraulic press its pretty easy to accidentally make a cold shut if you move the billet too far
So glad the youtube algorithm got me to this channel
That is faux Damascus! Pattern welded steel! Real "DAMASCUS" came from India, almost 2000 years ago, called WOOTZ. How would you feel if I called a skillet made of cast iron TAMAHAGANE?
Great interview and what a cool twist having him tip the wrist and share his knowledge
Mori-san is both insightful and respectful. I can tell he's a true master of his craft just by that. He notes the differences between his own techniques and those he sees and gives fair credit for things he likes. I can only imagine the quality of his work.
You should react to Kyle Royer’s work. The man makes some of the most beautiful Damascus pattern blades I’ve ever seen
On my bucket list, travel to Japan and get a Katana forged by an old martial arts expert on ancient swords or samurai or ninja.
I think most every guy worldwide wants a real katana - just for what it is - a absolute beautiful peace of craftmanship, perfection and art. Not for use - just to look at it and admire how beautiful it is.
Yang tercepat pasti menang
I like how practical and straightforward he is in the evaluations of the modern technology used. None of that "Blasphemy!" reaction I've witnessed from some purists, who merely admire and/or collect swords, but neither make nor use them.
I agree. You have some of those in this very comment section. I'm one who defines a katana by form, build, and function, not where it's made, who it's made by, or even type of steel as long as it's functional, though certain steels highlight the artistry in the making than others, JP laws on the matter be damned. On the same note, a spadone is a spadone whether it's made by Del Tin in Italy or some Longquan or American forge that knows the stylization behind it. I take no issue, however, with identifying swords certifiably made in Japan as nihonto.
I think that the way a katana is forged is what makes it to be a katana. Damascus Katana doesn't sound right. It's a damascus sword with a katana's shape, but it is not a katana.
This is so cool. I hope you guys make more videos like this, reacting to other blacksmiths.
I wish I could buy a hydraulic press at Walmart. That would be awesome.
In the end, Yari was replaced by bamboo spears.
The reason we forge weld at a lower temp is not because it becomes brittle, in fact the hotter it gets the closer to liquid it becomes. I generally start when the steel appears to sweat and if I waited until it sparks on its own it is burning the carbon off.
The metal used by Japanese swordsmiths has too much carbon anyway, so sparks are welcome I guess.
Hmm well sounds like what carrying a firearm her in America should represent.
Well here they would each cost about the same.. maybe charcoal being $20 and $10 in gas but doesn’t cost $640 in charcoal or $64 in gas for sure
Traditional katana forging gives a soul to the sword .
True
MaashAllah
